Only those who have resolved not to be distracted by market volatility can afford to be patient throughout. It is when you are impatient that the market turns against you; this is not a confirmed fact, but it does happen occasionally as a coincidence.
The experience that the market always goes up when you sell your savings is not accurate, but the sense of anxiousness and haste to sell gives it the appearance that it does.
