Collateral loans primarily cater towards people who are into altcoins, which are a bad investing themselves. Nowadays if you don't speculate on alts you probably can't get a loan. Not that different to loans with collateral really.
What the OP is doing is accepting less liquid collateral (probably with a higher percentage of value then most loans secured by altcoins) which will increase the potential user base that would want to borrow.
