I don't know why only American can join the lawsuit.  Apparently that is just the way the laws are written.  Maybe individuals in other countries and do a separate lawsuit.

But still  i have on cryptsy 0.5 btc can i expect that it will comeback to me.

I still have a negligible amount there.

I guess all we can do is keep checking to see if the process of unlocking wallets continues at some point, it seems to have ground to a halt for now with the last announcements on the site and the blog at the beginning of the Feb.

If you are an American customer, you can join the class action lawsuit based in Florida.  There is a chance that you could get a very small portion of the money back.

But why are only americans heared in this case, if it an international crime.
I remember the japanese court in the mT.Gox Case, they contacted all customers to fill claims against the fat dude. This was way more progressive. Just saying.

The american customers are just a fraction and will limit the punishment if the court doesn't take into acount that there are way more customers.

Well, in the end it will turn out like GAW, a slow death.
I think these guys will not get what they deserved. That's why they are doing it.
No honor, so being a public vilain is something they can live with..

I think Mr. Vernon is going to have to be a public villain for the rest of his life because I'm sure that he had customers all over the world.  It may be hard to hide from all of them.
Oh I don't know. Change name, change look, dump the squeeze who can be tracked, with all that money you can get pretty invisible as long as you are willing to say goodbye to yesterday.

Maybe they can do the same with Big Vern.  But if it's true that some of the coins were stolen, then someone else has a lot of the money.

All the coins were stollen... By Vern

Maybe so, but someone needs to find him and figure out where the money is.  That's going to be a difficult task.
yup, finding him is almost impossible now, unless we want to spread to the whole world just to find one guy that could be living and watching this topic anywhere right now Tongue
there's just no way he stopped playing in bitcoin, he could be making another scam company
so the probability of him watching this topic is very high Wink

well we could start a ?kickstarter? campaign to accumulate money for a headhunter ?

Kickstarter is for a new project that needs a funding, not a search team
besides, imagine the money we need to spend just to catch him Sad

If he gets deported but has all of his money in a private bitcoin address, there's still no way to get those funds.  I lost some money, but I don't see how we can get it back.  The government can't just seize funds from a bitcoin account.  That's kind of the whole point of it.  In this case it hurts us.

i think at least something should happen, this divorce crap is really not a priority.
His wife has for sure less demand than the million $ funds he stole/holds on hostage

How did the FBI can the bitcoin out of the operator of the silkroad? They can apply the same technique to him.

They waited until he was using his computer to access the silk road in a library, then arrested him before he could switch it off. He had some Bitcoins on a flash drive, but he had others encrypted ansd they had to do a deal with him to get him to hand them over. He agreed to let them have the Bitcoins on the condition he could have them back (or the money from their sale) if he was found innocent.

I hope they can, but they first have to get the private keys to the bitcoin addresses that hold the coins.  That is the "key" (pun intended).

OK, but is it possible for big vern to flee to China and permanently evade US justice there?
The US does not have an extradition treaty with China. However, sometimes the Government of China will deport American crooks and let the US have them, and sometimes the US will deport Chinese crooks and let China have them. Also, "Big Vern" will have to get a residency permit in China to stay there for long, and that can be denied.
