Cryptsy provides API access to our platform with JSON responses.

Security Note: Since implementation of our new security layer, some API clients are getting denied access. If possible, you should program your bot to accept cookies to pass the security test. NEW! We now have 2 public api servers you may use

http://pubapi2.cryptsy.com (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

You may continue to use http://pubapi.cryptsy.com, which will round-robin balance between the two public servers.

Public Methods
Public methods do not require the use of an api key and can be accessed via the GET method.

My name is Paul, and it seems to be many other people's names as well. Accordingly, I have chosen a Mandarin translation of Paul for my user name.

So, we should start alerting Chinese bitcoin and altcoin traders about Bitebi9 and the dangers of Cryptsy and Paul Vernon if they can't / don't read this thread and know about the issues. Anyone able to make a short summary that we can get translated and spread around? I would hate to see bitebi9 launch and tons of new Chinese users get scammed by these assholes.

Cryptsy's Coin Sponsor program gives the ability for a coin to be spotlighted on Cryptsy. To determine which coins are spotlighted at any given time a bidding process is used. Each coin is given a bitcoin address. Users can send bitcoin to a coins address to move it up the list. The top 4 coins on the bidding list are spotlighted as long as they remain in the top 4.

The balance of the spotlighted coins depreciates. Every 5 minutes 0.00034722 BTC is deducted from the address’s balance. If a coin drops out of the spolight position the deductions stop. For this reason the balance of an address on the blockchain can not be used to determine a coins position on the vote list. The current balance of a coins address will be displayed on the bid list.

With the exception of missed apostrophes and one misspelled word, I'm almost pretty sure that the above wasn't translated to English from Chinese, ergo Paul Vernon's its (no apostrophe) author.

INAL, but I seriously doubt the above scheme is legal in most jurisdictions, especially in the US and China.

Crypsty has nothing at all to do with this site.  It's not crypsty's fault that their name is all over it and that the parent company owns the domain registration.  Stop fudding.  If you posted this in cryptsy chat you would be banned.  It's exactly this type of fud that keeps breaking withdrawals.

You know the more I think about it, the more this whole thing is starting to remind me of Garza and paycoin.

DEFINITION of 'Gate Provision'

A restriction placed on a hedge fund limiting the amount of withdrawals from the fund during a redemption period. The implementation of a gate on a hedge fund is up to the hedge fund manager. The purpose of the provision is to prevent a run on the fund, which could cripple its operations, as a large number of withdrawals from the fund would force the manager to sell off a large number of positions.

I withdraw today my funds from cryptsy using NMC. NMC wallet is working, I can confirm that. I lost in price difference but anyway NMC is cheap now and I can wait for a better price to recover.
It was a nightmare with cryptsy, so I'll stay away from them in the future.

People are still using Cryptsy because they just don't know.

Have a friend who has a few antminers. He's been depositing to Cryptsy for months thinking Cryptsy is like a bank. When I told him what was going on it was the first he'd heard.

Need to get the word out so that people know. Threads like this one help raise awareness, and articles like this will help too: http://themerkle.com/news/for-some-reason-people-are-still-depositing-funds-to-cryptsy/

You do realize it took 100 pages of info here + misc extended complaints everywhere to get that site to post that right ?
They already ran a story about this topic (Google it)
Only thing is, the previous story went on and on about how it was just all FUD by Trolls.
And THEN they even deleted the page on it (cache'd by Google)

So we have as i said earlier most guys doing a 180 on it all now.
Which is worth pointing out WHY we continue on with talking about this.

Page 53 one guy was saying why continue posting here ?
Because themerkle had still run that old story (making it safe for investors to go running to Cryptsy)
Page 100 and now they are running Anti-Cryptsy stories  Roll Eyes

People defended Gox right to the end i recall clearly.
I heard unanimously i was a Troll..

' . . . .but evidently they are using Cryptsy's database if users can log in, so they must be related!'
