in January 2019 I put forward the idea in a discord, but no one wanted to listen.  apparently everyone has their own tasks and goals ...  here is my idea - a picture:

we must focusses on the next gen... the today young will be the tomorrow utilisator of UPX coins... console is the right choice, all of us and our sons have a console, not only the new system but also xbox, ps3 i don't know if we can go more back... simple app with wallet integrated, download, run... a little config like password or 2fa, setup the wallet in to the miner and go... to the moon... i am excited

I like your idea Cappex. Game consoles have excellent cooling and they are used around 20-30% of the day, others skip whole days of not using them. The only issue is how to make it run 3rd party app.
I also fully agree that crypto users in 5-10 years will be the today's kids.

Guys, any other ideas for suitable IoT mining devices? (so far mentioned: phones and game consoles).

IoT will be in every thing lol heres an exerpt from an article. Imagine saying Alexa, mine Uplexa it fucking rhymes and everything. Or siri, hey google
 mine uplexa...

7. The Home IoT Market is Expected to Grow to $53.45 Billion by 2022
Smart home devices, most of which are used to automate lighting, climate, appliance, entertainment, or security systems in a household, are already entering homes in record-breaking numbers. As an example, “smart speaker” devices like the Amazon Echo are already in 31 percent of US broadband households as of Q1 2019, up from a mere seven percent in 2017.

Game consoles are great, use one thread/one core, accumulate & secure the network.

I'm not as convinced by the Tesla cars idea, especially since I'm pretty sure Tesla won't let anyone run some process 100% of the time in their cares, while they're still struggling to make them completely safe&secure...

Maybe uPlexa could produce some tiny USB-boxes that you can buy for a few bucks, plug into another device and let it do its thing? This way the only "bottleneck" would be security (will this USB thingie try to steal my info/keys/whatnots?), but heat & stuff wouldn't be a matter or worries anymore.

And USB ports can be find everywhere...

Yea, unfortunately due to halving and everything else i've turned off my miners for now. will be turning them on again when the price increases and some of the big miners leave. How about everyone else?

I turned on my miners to see if the reward is really halved, but instead I'm getting almost the same yield from same CPUs.
So either because of dificulty or something else. Since I'm not selling, I don't care about the price.

@thesudio

What changes do you expect them to notice?

+@tybiboune

Yeah my motive is to aquire enough to run 3 nodes and i only have a single gaming machine with a 1080ti the price is too good right now to pass up lol

I wonder if more little rigs will join up or see if higher hash rate miners leave for other coins. My hope is we grt more decentralized i wanna see upx mining apps for android tvs that activate when its got no display inputs or phone miners that turn on during inactive hours ect coupled with nice guis... i wish i was more programming savvy instead of data entry type layman stuff lol id build it for upx myself

Mining on TVs and tablets can be tricky. None of them is optimized for 24/7 load. Today's TVs are as thin as possible, leaving no room for proper cooling of the chips inside.
That means that you can easily kill your device if you run too many threads and not monitor the CPU temps.
Cheap Chinese TV boxes often heat too much even on their own, without the mining, that you MUST modify their cooling if you want them to last more than a month.

Another topic is security. How would you convince a regular person that the miner in his TV is secure, not spying at him and so on.

But in order for all that to change, we must create intelligent miners for all devices with a CPU, continue being open to people, and tell the truth as uPlexa is so far.

In the past there was a bounty for creating a miner for XBox. Which type of IoT device do you think is most suitable for mining?

I am still thinking Tesla Wink But any other IoT device that can keep cool enough during mining and not burn down should do. But, now is the time to get the systems ready for mass implementation. It is not yet the time for viable IoT mining on other devices than smartphones. But when it is doable in say 5 years (due to technical advancements) everything from the blockchain to the underlying (infra)structure, support etc, must be ready to integrate UPX asap on the devices that are fit for purpose then. This IS the time to get the technical stuff lined up and create some sort of plug and play thing for those devices. And in the meantime building up usecases on ecommerce.

Yeah my motive is to acquire enough to run 3 nodes and i only have a single gaming machine with a 1080ti the price is too good right now to pass up lol

I wonder if more little rigs will join up or see if higher hash rate miners leave for other coins. I agree that more little miners would be the best for decentralization, and fair distribution of the wealth, which as far as I understand is a good part of what QuantumLeaper is all about.

But as someone mentioned, the only current factor of influence on the price is the miners. They're currently the ones driving the perceived value.

As for now, I'd say it's the best time to buy the coin, mining it is only ok if you're not paying for your electricity and if your rig has already been ROI-ed. For the other cases, if you calculate the price of electricity and a % of your rig acquisition cost (which is how miners should calculate), the cost of buying directly will be much less than the cost of acquiring the coins through mining.

If your rig has not been ROI-ed and your electricity is not free, it doesn't really make sense to mine, at least with the usual costly rigs.

Maybe it's time for the IoT devices to kick in? Smiley

What do you think should be the next big step for uPlexa?

On the topic of decentralization and UPX listing on bisq. Here is a resource Komodo released, obviously biaaed but raises great points on what to look out for but since bisq isnt compared i wonder if we can reach out to them to see how they fair against the competition...?

https://komodoplatform.com/decentralized-exchange/

Wow, pretty extensive article on DEXs. Thanks for it, I learned a lot (although I did not understand everything).
Maybe uPlexa team can consider listing to other DEXes than Bisq?

Now here are my after fork mining results: I mine almost the same amount of coins as before.
I cannot explain it, but it's a fact. The only difference is the slightly lower network difficulty.
But it is not that low either.

Has anyone else observed almost same mining results after the fork compared to before it?

That link is really interesting and an eye opener!

About the mining rewards, I'd say it usually balances itself quite nicely, as some whales will leave the network, making the overall profitability better for those who stay.

I haven't tried mining recently so I can't say more, are you still having the same income after some days? What kind of rig are you mining with?

if you believe in this project this is the right moment to run your machines at full speed... we are not focused at the this price but at him future potential.

Mining income dropped with price and now itll be half that, i have been mining BEAM and swapping for btc on binance and buying upx which has been much better returns but beam also had a halving of price recently lol

the mining's difficult is sensibly reduced after the fork but i think the real reason is the pair upx/eth on stex... price fall down and the miners goes to another profitable coins... they are remain are the sostenitor of the project.
i will check my stats after monday but i think that now we obtain less coins than before.

Yes, interesting indeed. What I take away from it is that DEX's are not yet simple enough for the general audience. To much hassle to get from one currency to another, moving in and out of wallets, take to many steps compared to the monetary system we use today. Other then that there, to the potential cryptonewbies there is no sense of urgence to change to crypto. As long as there is no other incentive, like the easy money in the bullrun 2017, they will stay away from it and explosive growth is not going to happen.

That's exactly what I mean: if we are able to generate a sense of urgence to change, growth in crypto will happen far more quickly. And so will DEX's...
...Interesting discussion: anyone more on this?

hi everyone ! happy Forkloween Wink

So, as I was expected, halving didn't change anything to the price...No surprise here! Smiley
What changes prices is hype / crazy BS shilling, OR real good stuff happening.

The real good stuff will be when the coin is getting used, not only mined and traded.

Nobody reacted to my topic 'decentralization/privacy OR accessibility/ease of use : do you think there is a choice to make, and what would be yours?'? Smiley
