 thanks for sharing
it was really a good documentary, especially if, like me, you plan to learn a little bit more about cryptography (eg. on coursera courses)
not bad really

We needed the "Snowden" event to open up the eyes of millions of people regarding their privacy.

A natural evolution of ANY technology that protects your privacy or identity like Tor would attract bad elements. The technology does not change the human behaviour element.

The size of government surveillance, was a big surprise to many people.  Angry

"The Web we love have been turned against us. You are more under control, you are less free." Brilliant words from brilliant documentary, now I wonder and can't decide whether we are masters of technology or... slaves of it.

Today the difference between intelligence agencies and police has become blurred. Police pretty much acts like intelligence agencies, they use the same tools and methods, like mass surveillance for example. Not just NSA, but even local police engages in mass surveillance.

just watched half of the video and will watch other half later today. i don't use tor myself especially since it isn't as safe as some people claim it to be. especially the combination blockchain wallet and tor.

I watched this a while ago, a lot of speculation and not enough facts but overall an interesting documentary.

yeah, pretty good film for the beginner, touches a few important points. I would have liked to see it go a bit deeper, and not necessarily towards the nasty stuff either. For example, many universities have reams of files containing published papers and archives etc. that are copyrighted and not for general public consumption, yet they are accessible on the deep web. You just have to know what you are looking for and how to find it because none of it is indexed on search engines.

Also, the military invented TOR, doesn't that suggest to you that they could crack it too? say, force one of the three layers of encryption to be their own, monitored server every time? i don't actually understand how encryption works well enough to say, but, if it can be built, it can be un-built, no?

This is the BBC Horizon documentary Inside The Dark Web. Not seen it yet but have it downloaded somewhere. Horizon docs are usually pretty good though.

Thanks for sharing. I watched it too and it was really well done. Subscribed to the channel.

Is there a place that can give more info on tor and the safest way of using it, and is there anything like a personal net modem o wifi/mifi set up that doesn't require a connection to one of the carriers that you're depending on? No contracts, no being at the mercy of verizon or sprint, etc...but a free or affordable option for net access wherever you are?
