I see that nobody isn't talking about Littler. He is just 16 years old, before tournament probably nobody didn't even knew his name, but now this teenager is already in third round what is impressive. He beat veteran Andrew Gilding in 2nd round, next he will face Matt Campbell and have good chance to go further.
Litter is amazing indeed, great talent and his average in the first round (106) was simply amazing; one day this kid will become world champion for sure! Wasn't able to watch darts yesterday, but from what I see, it's incredible how Van Den Bergh lost and Hempel made comeback. Winning first 2 sets, having 3 match darts and still lose the game, sounds amazing.
The funny thing was that nobody gave Hempel any chance after the 2-0, you would have a nice amount of money by betting on him at that time lol. Another sensation yesterday with Aspinall being kicked out by Evans, we already had a lot of surprises this world championship.

I have a dartboard in my house that's just gathering dust, can anyone explain to me how the scoring works here and how to determine who wins? I'm trying to impress my friends when they come here this New Year or before the New Year to celebrate and have a drink with me and eat some food. Does the scoring goes higher the closer you are to the bullseye or the farther you are?
okay, let me explain the rules to you so that you can have a lot of fun with your buddies on new year's eve each player has three darts, which he throws at the target in immediate succession. depending on the tournament mode, the score is counted backwards from 501 or 301. the points of the fields hit by the player are subtracted, then it is the next player's turn to throw their three darts. only darts that remain in the board are scored. only the first player to reach exactly 0 wins: if the player scores more points than necessary, he has overthrown. it is then the opponent's turn again and they can try to win the game. if it is now the turn of the player who 'busted' (overthrew) the board, he starts again with the score he had before his last throw. the 'double out' mode is the most popular. to finish and win a round of darts, the double ring must be hit and 0 points scored. in 'straight out' mode, any field can be thrown to end the round as long as the player reaches 0 points. beginners are recommended to start with this variant first.

the elimination of the seeded players at this year's world darts championship continues apace - yesterday it was northern ireland's Josh Rock who lost 1-3 to Berry van Peer from the netherlands. and Nathan 'the asp' Aspinall was also eliminated yesterday - he lost to Ricky Evans in three sets and hardly had a chance.

He was 2-0 up in sets, Hempel was in bad shape and not throwing good and even the commentators thought this would be a walkover. Suddenly Hempel scored better and Van Den Bergh missed way too many doubles and eventually even lost. Also watched the match of van Barneveld, one of my favorite players. He looked in pretty good shape, was good at the doubles so hopefully he can get far this tournament.

on day 8, the 'eggplant king', as Dirk van Duijvenbode is known, lost 3-1 to the croatian Boris Krcmar. earlier in the day, Brendan Dolan from northern ireland narrowly defeated his compatriot Mickey Mansell 3-2 in a real thriller, winning the decisive eleventh leg in the fifth set. portugal's José de Sousa lost 3-1 to the swedish outsider Jeffrey de Graaf. in the evening session, germany's Florian Hempel defeated 'dreammaker' Dimitri van den Bergh 3-2 - the belgian missed three match darts in the process... all other results can be found in the graphic What a loss of Van Den Bergh! Didn't expect that Wright would loose but he played extremely bad, his average was only 84 and he missed a lot of doubles also. Will be an interesting world championship as there is not 1 clear favorite for the title. People as Price, Van Gerwen, Anderson, Smith all stand a chance in winning the title again.
For me Peter Wright is one of the most fun players to watch, but yesterday he had very poor game and with such averages it would be difficult to win. Williams deserved to win, while Wright got eliminated early like last year. Currently Scott Williams leading vs Danny Noppert (7th World Ranking), so we may have another big surprise. Agree that there is no clear favorite to win this year

there were three surprises in the midday session on tuesday (day #5). Tomoya Goto won against veteran Ian White - and Ritchie Edhouse lost again after a match dart. the biggest sensation came in the last match of the session: James Wade was the first seeded player to be eliminated. at the end of tuesday, Michael van Gerwen proved ice-cold against Keane 'the dynamite' Barry and demolished the irishman 3-0 in no time at all. 'mighty mike' checked out a magnificent 167 once and excelled with a checkout rate of 60 percent (nine out of 15). KB, on the other hand, only made two out of 16.
