I also created my own icon, hehehe.
I just add "A", maybe should try it with other letters "B", "C", oops "D" is taken  Grin
I don't know what is the point in bashing other's people work without having a clue about what you are talking about.
The design you are talking about exists since the first hard disks appeared and you can find them in scientific publications dating waaaay back anything you know. It represents the different platters that composed (still used nowadays) a hard drive.

The idea of using this design for datacoin was both accurate and nice.

VisualPharm Data Database Icon:

Absolutely 1:1
Ridiculous  Grin

The main idea was to use typical data icon (I used this https://cdn3.iconfinder.com/data/icons/linecons-free-vector-icons-pack/32/data-48.png)

Our main icon is -

But with text we don't need to add "d". In this case it looks like standard data icon exept colors theme. But in Black&White version (for print) you can't see colors and it looks the same as typical data icon.

The new logo was copied from Metro Style - Database Icon   Grin Grin Grin
100% copy-paste hehehehehe.
Look here - http://www.iconarchive.com/show/icons8-metro-style-icons-by-visualpharm/Data-Database-icon.html
and here (scroll to middle of the page to see all) - http://www.iconarchive.com/show/icons8-metro-style-icons-by-visualpharm.4.html
I think you need to choose a new and unique logo.
It's very easy to copy-paste, but it is difficult to invent something new and better.
Good job for the winner, without own idea he got the prize.
hehehehe  Grin

Look here: https://www.google.by/search?q=database+symbol&safe=off&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Zs2oUsS7Our6yAPslIHABw&ved=0CC0QsAQ&biw=1920&bih=978
It is just common symbol for database, it is used on many schemes.

Hi Zorrosv!

Is it your font or you founded it somewhere deep in internet? Cheesy
