I'm trying to learn to compile it, its just not working for me so good, dunno why. I will offer a standing 5 block bounty for good/clean Windows-QT compiles and will offer a sandbox test of them first. I will update the first post for it later and perhaps a mate will grace us with a compile/recompile!

No pool yet, but there's a couple of us working on P2Pool and I've reached out to Narken about it.
The old QT is still OK to use, I made no changes but checkpoints to the code. I can't guarantee it will work forever though, it was a favor done in thread and not by me. If I never get it to work, you'll have to use the commandline only or Linux versions but for now you'll be fine.

Man don't say that, i like opening my wallet and looking at my doubloons. Why are people not getting onboard with doubloons is what i want to know....grrr.

You shouldn't be forked I only added 4 additional checkpoints through block 5025 hash rate has been pretty reasonable. I am working on figuring out the voodoo behind the Windows-qt bits but its slow going for a non windows user, not as easy as it might seem.
As for the other question, I did premine a few blocks, but no there wasn't a single block larger than any others.
