say i have a computer in one room and also one in another using a router i wanted to experiment with attacks on myself? would this be illegal?

Also, I don't see how you plan to do a "distributed" attack if you run it from a single box...

my parents would be extremely disappointed in me getting arrested by an fbi kickdoor. lol.

What if you are the first one to report yourself, then when they investigate, tell them nothing happened.

If you have a little bit of money, but don't want to buy a second server JUST for a firewall...check out http://www.d-guard.com/
I know the guy who made it. YES, I used "guy"...only one person.

We've tested 2x 2Gb/s and 4x 1Gb/s at the same time on a server with 1Gb/s ^, 1Gb/s v and it blacklisted the IP.
The thing is a little un-forgiving when people try to connect on odd ports like 3389 and 3306. Even if you own the server, it will block you if you connect with the wrong Username/Password.

As a note: real companies like Amazon, Paypal etc do things like this all the time, it's how they're so rock-solid even under attack

i admin i created my own DDOS tool, works well against virtual privte servers, and any home connection with port 80 open Wink.

I used it on my home laptop with a mobile internet connection and bought down my 10mbs connection with it. crazy.

simular to the one anonymous uses for their mass attacks, forgot the name

It's not illegal to attack yourself. Even if you had two different IP's, as long as you own the PC's.

Also, I run this every now and then on my self.

lol id have to remotely attack it? i dont understand alot of it. but it is sending massive amounts of garbage info to block access right? im a very visual person so i want to play around with all this software til i understand better how it all works. my inspiration came from this post )http://youtu.be/GAuiXr8mwOE) by hax.5 which is really old. but i think once i get myself setup i can play around and slowly come to understand how to hack and protect myself. like it says hacking can be for good as well. from what i understand these people are called "white hats?" lol i dont know. im an extreme troll bored, endlessly googling. sry Sad
