What makes a coin dead? I would say when it has no active nodes, no trading volume and no development, in that order. Anyone have a different definition?
Majority of the projects or coins you mentioned are just replicas of the open source code that is available and they are in to make money when they can and shut when they reach their target, make sure you understand the risk when you are investing in anything that is not listed in the top ten market cap.

My second question, why does CMC still list these coins!?!?!?
If you are shelling out money then they will list, first they will shell out money to an exchange to list their coin and then it will be listed in CMC, money talks here.

The reason why they have dead coins or the coins from high to low and comes to end because the team will leave their own coin without noticing the investors of the coin.  Dead coins means also the project is not potential so the investors don't have any interest to invest to the coin and those people who are have already investment decide to invest they decided to sell to not making lose more money

For me the only reason why I can say that it is a dead coin only if there are no development at all wherein devs abandoned it that there is no updates even on their social media accounts. These kind of coins will just be a pump and dump coins that if you are a long time holder for sure you will lose a lot.
As long as there is still value, it's still not dead.
There are some coins that will just pump and dump, and then it will become officially dead.
That's just normal in crypto, we cannot eliminate scammers here, therefore we have to be smart in choosing the coin to invest with.

When developers decide to quit on the project based on their internal affairs or lack of proper development roadmaps then am sure that coin is goiing to feel the effect Also i think coins die if there is low volume of trade for that coin and since there is low circulation few people know about the coin existence and therefore low usage

What makes a coin dead for me is, no trade volume at all, 0 buyer on the exchange, listed coins only on dex exchange which is why the trade volume is low and else.

Listing coins on CMC is not that hard imo, you can listed your own coins in CMC if your coins meet all the criteria from coinmarketcap.
Sure, the lack of demand and supply, and accordingly, the volume approaches to zero. In fact, this situation turns into fear and causes to loss.
There are certain reasons for the CMC, but they are probably not being unlisted afterwards.

Volume that does not exist, request is also empty other than that the team cannot give him good hope so that the coin can die ... Many coins do not have volume and always decrease and CMC removes them from the list because they do not function at all.
That would end up to those coins that aren't even contributing good to the community, it definitely be delisted. Besides, what is the used of being listed in CMC since nobody have to after this shit coins. Giving a slot for new one much be better to consider rather than to be full of worthless coins.
If this is indeed the case, this question certainly will not arise, because I see that the main point in this thread is the question about CMC that does not delete all coins that are considered dead, that means there are some coins that are considered dead but are still registered in CMC.

The coin died because the developer released responsibility for the coin so that nothing could be developed from the coin.
CMC has a list of thousands of coins, it is difficult to delete them one by one because not all coins that have a small volume are dead coins, sometimes developers pause their coin development so it is necessary to approve the cmc party and developer

I think when coins are not more developed by team and when coins have not more trading volume and people are not interested anymore on that coin and team abandon it.

I think a coin dies because of the small volume of the coin or the little trading activity on the coin, and for a long time the coin will be at the bottom of the CMC list, so the coin will die.

There are some coins that has been the project or team being paused thats why they haveno activities but it doesn’t mean that they are dead.still listed in CoinMarketCap because maybe there are agreement between the dev and the cmc so we hve nothing to do with that if when they will delisting those coins, but about others well after those issues comes out about how CMC manipulate the volume of some coins then its for them to explain whats going on inside their site

There are many coins which are gone dead after the ICO finished because of not in demand for the people while the bear market came. I know one is PGL which gave me more profit in the year of 2017 in the bull market. But, later the coin was delisted from the several almost all the exchanges and also from the CMC because of not more or less or even zero trading volume. Recently VZT is also going to be delisted from the Liquid exchange because of no trading volume at all.

The risks faced for this matter are indeed sad if the coin dies and does not function. Choosing is not easy, so avoiding junk coins is also difficult, but this is a risk. What is certain is that now we have to be able to get up and look for potential coins and there are already many coins in exchange and it's worth developing.

This situation has also happened to me. When tokens are distributed, they are not listed on exchange sites. All of these promises are fraudulent and populous, they banned the member on telegram and not update project information and go to the moon ads. Unfortunately and unlucky if you encounter this situation
many experienced such an event, they were the project founders who were not responsible for the price of the tokens that had been distributed so that there are now a lot of scattered garbage tokens.

absolutely right and dead coins are coins that the owner did not develop so they could lose their value too, so those who will buy the coins also don't exist

Firstly, listing on CMC nowadays is not that hard, they require at least listed on 2 famous exchanges. And yes that what makes a coin dead, no trading volume and no development but the main factor for this is when the team leaves the project.
