Friends, the market capitalization suffers from huge losses, do you think the "Great Depression" of cryptocurrency will last for a long time? Will you do something until the end of the year, or you wait for growth the next year staying with your portfolios on hold?
The time to do something probably passed some time ago, everyone that is still holding his coins does not have many options, you either sell your coins and lose money or keep holding and wait for the recovery, and since I do not like the idea of losing money I have no option but to keep holding my coins even if the price will not improve in years.

I think there is no other way, except waiting. If you are able to bear huge loss then you can sell all your crypto currencies at lowest price. I am waiting from last 8 months and will be waiting for 8 months more. I am continuously monitoring market, it is moving towards stabilization.  Hope it will recover.
There is no point in selling now, everyone that is thinking about that should forget about it because doing it now will mean that you will never see the money that you invested in the market again so the only choices we have are to trade or to hold our coins but trading when the market is moving the way it does will give you even more losses.

when price drop to $6k a lot of us thought its the bottom. now that its $3400, some also thinks its the bottom. it would have been been great if you have sold while the price is higher so think about it if the price sinks to $1500 later.

ETF should be should have decided approvednor not.
I think ETFs aren't that influential at this time. well, however, everyone might have thought the ETF would refuse, or delay the announcement. well, but for some people, holding back might be a very good thing for now. well, maybe because the price is already at the bottom.

First of all this isn't a great depression. Don't fall into the trap of people who don't know anything about Bitcoin before 2017. This is just the most recent of a series of crashes, that are part of the cyclic nature Bitcoin's market.

I don't think we'll see a serious decline again. As the fall from $6000 to $3500 was from the Bitcoin Cash war that I guess just panicked the whole market. I think we might be looking at a $3000-$6000 price for the next half year. So what am I doing until the end of the year? I'm buying. I started buying for the first time in just over a year the day it dropped under $4k last week. Bought some more this week. The only thing to do is either buy more at these incredible prices, or continue holding if you don't have money to buy in now.
I agree with you and you have good strategy, but I think that there is more factors which cause Bitcoin crash beside Bitcoin Cash war. Bitcoin Cash war is over, but bear market is not over yet.

All you can do is to spend as little as you can and try to buy some more. That should be anyone's plan fro 2019.  2019 will be lifetime opportunity for all that joined crypto in 2017.

Unless something changes the price will not drop any further but I doubt it will go any higher neither.
It will probably stay between $3800-$4300 prices and not move any further down or up between those prices.

We just need to hope for the best and dream a day where a rich whale says its enough and buys a bunch of bitcoin all at once. A single person (or even a group) buying 50 thousand bitcoins all at once would mean a lot of money for the market and the price will go up soaring sky-high.

So, we can't really expect anything to happen until the year is over but we can at least hope for a savior to come in and change the markets, without a drastic thing like that happening there is no chance the price will move. However 2019 looks a lot more bright even on the first month so that is something.

We need enough patience to sustain on this bearish market as we don't know when this will end. Holding is the only way not to lose much of our funds.

I don’t really know how it’s going to be this year, maybe it will keep on decreasing. I have seen people say December is bull, but I think they are all just some Bitcoin enthusiasts trying to get people to keep on holding. I don’t see any reason why I should hold crypto while whales and other investors sell theirs and make profit and I’m losing. Bull run might be next year or even next two years. I still have Bitcoins though, and not only that, I have altcoins too and I’m not bothered about the price falling.

I also hope we can get a bigger price before Christmas, i need some cash money before Christmas and at actual bitcoin price i need 0.09 BTC at least to have enough for what i need to buy. If people will not sell now for such price i think we can have 1BTC=6000$ before Christmas.

Hope not, last month is where almost need cash. Hope the price will pump a bit this holiday season like the usual.  After having rise to $4k+, here we go again at $3800. People with weak hands will thought again that it will continue to fall. Hopefully time will come they will change their mindset but seems impossible because they keep on repeating the same mistake and they are also one of the reason of decline.

This last month of year or December already comes and we don't know when the cryptocurrency again will increase the value but for sure it will happen. But I hope 2019 will be good as new year to us and to the market to start again and have hope.

this depression may last until next year if BAKKT is not launched, since they are not yet licensed, but if BAKKT is launched and some ETF is approved, then it will be the end of that depression. Of course this is just my opinion because I am not an expert and I am not a psychic. Do not take my post as if it were a financial advice

Why do you think Bakkt or an ETF would end the bear market? Traders might pump the price a bit on regulatory approval, but the launch of these markets isn't a guarantee that lots of institutional money is waiting to invest. Institutions are also capable of shorting the regulated markets (assuming they can source the BTC or ETF shares to do so).

To jump in here, BAKKT pushed back their launch date by 6 weeks due to, as they say, high client demand. I guess they weren't ready to get going with all the demand they have. At the very least that speaks well for its effect on bitcoin, since BAKKT has to buy all the Bitcoin used in the futures trades. An ETF should have a large effect on price, especially if multiple ETFs get passed, that alone over time will likely bring in millions more people with thousands of dollars to invest. With BAKKT being the first actual Bitcoin exchange on Wall St, I think we're gonna see an ETF approval by end of 2019. Let's not forget a few other Wall St firms (fidelity, nasdaq, maybe goldman sachs) should have bitcoin services up in 2019. I don't think these things will end the bear market, I think we've reached the bottom range of the market now, I think Wall St slowly getting into Bitcoin next year is not what will end the bear market but is what will start the bull market. I don't really see any more intense panic selling happening below $3000s level, so now I think we'll see sideways trading but still with decent volatility and then those things next year will start the bull market.

2018 is most certainly like the great depression, it is making me depressed and probably many others as well. At least there aren't any stories of suicide, or none that have hit the media yet. Lets hope bakkt will turns things around

Now it's a bad choice to sell, and holding will be better as a way to avoid losses and become an opportunity for future profits. I am still optimistic that the market will rise, and I will be patient to wait for his recovery.

Our market still moving up and down,  we expect recoveries but isn't in the instant way.  It surely we can't see bull run this year and it could be better not to expect it anymore. It is just a huge satisfaction for me seeing crypto market recovers from dips and ATH might do hard to shown again.

It is a roller coaster ride and it is due to its volatility that it keeps moving up and down. So nothing much to worry and also it has started to recover well so all eyes on 5k levels first.  So this subject line which OP mentioned is now not much relevant as it is not going to fall more now from here it seems.
