DOUG was a good show to grow up to... This is just total crap and it's going to make kids think it's okay to be bi sexual when they grow up.

Personally if I had kids I would hope they were intelligent enough to ignore all the hype and make up their own minds on sexuality. If they decide to just believe in mass media, Id much rather not have them as my children.

Are you sure the problem lies with us? Smiley

MLP is awesome in a lot of ways. Its efficiency in filtering out the brainwashed is a really exceptional property. A very wide range of dogmas trigger on it, making it one of the best, if not the best user-filter the anonymous internet has to offer. And it's not just that. The themes focus so much on cooperation that talking or writing about them reveals crucial parts of one's mindset. The "Elements of Harmony" (including honesty, loyalty, generosity, kindness) and similar concepts are woven deeply into the show; deeply enough that they should come to mind when talking about it. Broad statements against such a show, or its fans, alienate people for good reason.

Anyone reflecting on the topic should notice that there is no objective argument that adult males should watch the typical Hollywood crap, but not MLP. Many socially accepted movies are stupid, shallow, dull, pointlessly aggressive and support despicable morals. To complain about bronies more than about their fans is absurd.

Scientifically speaking, interaction with MLP is a personality test that has very few false negatives. See someone acting against bronies in a hostile or very confused way, and you know he's been trained to not think from a neutral view-point. In short, he has been brainwashed. It does not matter whether some social norm did the job, the result is the same. But even if someone talks on the topic without obvious prejudice, usage or omission of the cooperative themes gives good hints on that person's perception. It just really hits the mark. From my personal experience, someone's tendency to accept or enjoy MLP correlates extremely well with how I would rate his social maturity: not prejudiced, and actively aware of concepts like honesty, loyalty, tolerance, and friendship.

I can't tell whether others just want to troll with ponies. But to me, this is brilliant.

Naturally, I tolerate opposing opinions. But I don't have to value them. Wink

This is so totally WTF.... Are your lives really this boring?

Good point, we should be doing exciting things like reading threads for subjects we don't care about and typing up replies in them instead.
