Correct, I have no further interest in solidcoins. I'm of the opinion that any future alternate chain needs to bring something substantially new to the table rather than just tweaking existing things.
Please re think that position.  Not on SolidCoin specifically, but any alternate chain.  Sometimes a few tweaks are what is necessary to existing code, and if there is refusal to make those changes, alternate chains must be created to give new ideals a chance.      Whatever on SolidCoin, just please have a more open mind about the next coin that may on the surface not have so many changes, but in the long run could have benefits over other coins.

Yes, please all be open minded. Without quote "dummies" that pay Bitcoins for ShitCoin huge profits are no longer feasible

Actually it is easy: when the block chain fork and the opening of an exchange happens within a few weeks, it is not for feature testing, but to rip off early buyers. Especially if they bring no additional things, but are a one to one copycat of bitcoin. Namecoin at least has this dns feature, and even then it is a far stretch.

If we find a way to take back SC and make it open source are you saying you still won't open an exchange?

+1.  I made the same decision (posted it in the SC Guild thread when asked to port over other BTC Guild features).

A few tweaks may be a move in the right direction, but its NOT justification to fork a technology that only has a small niche audience.  The entire concept of digital / cryptocurrency needs time to mature before it breaks down into competing forks.  What we need is an effective version of merchant processors like what people are already used to with their credit cards or PayPal.  Online retailers are rarely programmers.  Most of them don't even know basic HTML, you can't expect them to integrate Bitcoins into their XYZ software with their own form of confirmation/address tracking.

Unfortunately, pulling that off is a lot harder than changing variables and implementing minor modifications to releasing ForkCoin.

Glad you liked my post Smiley

It's funny that it's even worth talking about SolidCoin at all. Looking at the hash rate total, the entire SC network is just 0.67% of the btc network.

With all those extra miners going back to bitcoin, it's not really making it any more profitable to mine bitcoin at the moment, is it?

I spent some coins buying SC.

Maybe next time inform yourself about a product *before* you buy it Wink

The problem probably lies in the fact that the people behind SC are better developers than public relations people or leaders.

Now that was really funny. Coinhunter is a single person, so in a best case scenario that would be "developer" instead of "developers". And the solidcoin fiasco of the last few days showed us that the rest of you sentence is also completely untrue. Apparently one is not a good developer by taking the unreleased development version of bitcoin, relabel it and the release it without testing.

If they treat other people like they want to be treated, then this whole thing might not have happened. They should realize that without Bitcoin, there would be no SolidCoin, so any changes someone wants to incorporate back into Bitcoin is just giving something back.

You really think that bitcoin should add all those solidcoin bugs?

The market decides which technology people want to use.

Looking at the solidcoin price, the delistings and the close of mining pools I say the market has already decided.

What's it going to take to get IXcoin back on line?
Thanks for the kind words! IXcoin's back online already. I announced it in #ixcoin-discussion a few hours ago.

Is that just Solid Coins or any new version of Crypto that comes out?
Sorry, I edited just after I posted and added "I'm of the opinion that any future alternate chain needs to bring something substantially new to the table rather than just tweaking existing things.". I'm still interested in alternate chains and what they can improve or do differently.

If this is the case they must be truly awful public relations people. The bugs that caused Ruxum to close were caused by the SolidCoin developers. Which particular changes do you think makes them good developers?

BitcoinX, that might also have been due to SC Coin / bit parking selling their entire stake at once.

What are the chances that the people heavily invested in SC coin just pulled out into Bitcoin and subsequently into US dollars, thus further driving down the price of Bitcoin?

Fair enough. Another explanation could be that they want to commercialize the whole platform and get some big players involved. Of course I'm just speculating.

As it stands, it's a bit pointless to invest more money in hardware, regardless of which kind of coin you prefer to mine.

A public apology of some sort needs to come out of those people, it's getting a bit ridiculous. If they have communication problems, then they should hire a publicist.

You are confused. SC doesn't have any better technology than BitCoin, they took the BitCoin source and make some random changes they didn't fully understand. The DOS attack is proof is their lack of technical skill.

'Those people' got removed them the open source client was written. Coinhunter was mentally unfit to lead this project and his constant lying about BitCoin wasn't doing anyone any good. Apologies don't mean anything, the bad people are not in control any more.

Depends a lot on how you define viable.
If you consider bitcoin to be viable, SC had a vague chance.

I want a list of anyone who thought solidcoin was going to be a viable currency after the first week and I want to make sure those people don't run with scissors or try to hold public office.

CoinHunter, for one. Smiley You can find the rest pretty easy, just look at the people bitching at smoothie and I. Smiley

Even DoubleC indicated he did not want to support a fork of the solidcoin client with an exchange.

No new buyers, bad news makes price go down.

I called it and people mocked me saying I was wrong in my predictions.

Where? Which people?  I want a list.
