I think you can delete your personal posts on threads after 24 hours but cannot delete a thread you create yourself and that’s what I thought he meant.
It all depends on the subforum where the post was made. In some boards, you need to wait 24 hours before you can delete a post. So, you are right about that. But in others, you can immediately delete it after submission, and there is no need to wait.

OP, go to settings, reset your account password, but before you type the new password, kindly close your eye and type in different letters from your keyboard. Open your eyes after then and don't cross-check the letters, then submit it and walk away. That's a way of forgetting about your account if you don't actually want to gain access to it.
This request isn't about OP losing access to their account and not having a way to log back in to use it. They wanted to have their posts and history cleared due to, what they believe, is sensitive content and information they posted about taxes.

You can delete your posts manually; Bitcointalk doesn't have a "delete user" feature.
Or did you mean he can edit his post? Because no user can also delete post. But a post can be edited to del and also be reported to moderators for a moderator to delete it. But the post can not be deleted/removed by the user. Or probably it is a typo and you meant can't delete.

I think you can delete your personal posts on threads after 24 hours but cannot delete a thread you create yourself and that’s what I thought he meant.

The reason why is that I asked how could I pay with my Bitcoin and which taxation would be applied.
I got a response from an user as if I was trying not to pay taxes and elude my tax responsibilities.

I’m worried someone can legally attack me and sue me because of financial misdemeanor.

If it is about privacy which shouldn’t be a thing too much to worry for you since you didn’t share some personal details about yourself, I would say apart from using TOR browser you can as well create another account as that is permissible when it has to do with privacy issues

Even if your account was deleted, users on Bitcointalk have post scrappers and everything you posted (just like anyone else) has been scrapped and there is a copy of it. Besides wiping everything you said from the forum, you would also have to ask the creators and owners of those scrappers to delete everything from their records. Glad you decided to stay.
Dude ain't got thick skin... D Pedro spoke to him about his request and he's vexed that he wants his account deleted immediately... I think I sensed great "FEAR" in his actions? If not pride...

I don't think anyone should divert thier interest in whatever reasons why they got registered in here... If that's happening, then it'll be obvious they didn't come with proper motives..

According to the privacy notice, the retention is a bit longer unless one has activated "limited retention" in his profile. For ease of view though, I’ll quote the relevant part of the notice:
Quote
IP-address retention

IP address retention works in this way:
Thing       Normal retention   Limited retention        Retention for guests

Full IP                 6 months        3 months                    A few weeks
Partial IP             2 years           N/A                            N/A
City geolocation   6 years           3 months                    N/A

You can opt into limited retention in your account settings. This will apply only to logs created after you change the setting, and doing so will make it much more difficult for you to recover your account if it is ever lost.
Between 6 and 24 months, the IP linearly loses least-significant bits over time. For example, the IP 123.234.210.221 would lose 8 bits and become the prefix 123.234.210.0/24 approximately 10.5 months after it was logged. For IPv6, the least-significant 66 bits are dropped after 6 months, and then the remaining bits are dropped linearly over the 1.5-year period.

The city geolocation locates you to the nearest large city according to your IP address.

Exception: if you click on a "ping link" as part of a manual account recovery process, the IP log created by this action has possibly-indefinite retention.
Of course there are likely to be backups and such that make snapshot data persist as a backup.

Based on your responses I will decide to stay in the forum and continue collaborating with others and learning new things.
Good thinking. If you are worried about your privacy then always use TOR. You are protected. The forum does not keep log of your IP addresses [though they keep it for one or three months which is a short time].

You are afraid of that? Smiley

Think of me then. Where I live crypto and anything related to it is strictly banned. So what I am doing can be considered illegal. And the forum is all about crypto. Just using the forum might turn my life upside down. But despite every calamities, I am still using the forum.

You did the right thing to give it a chance. If you try hard enough you might find people similar to your case where they were all afraid in the past but now are using the forum without any problem. You might even find people nearby where you reside. So, you are not alone here. Scroll through the threads and navigate a little, and you'll find something that might interest you.

Lastly congratulations, gsus.dev. I wish you best of luck for this new journey.

Well, it's my turn to respond because I am the user, and what I have to say is that he hasn't understood anything.

I have explained tax avoidance, which is legal, but I think it is better if I quote what I said, translating it.

I am trying to find smart ways to use my funds.
<...>
I hope my educational interest in learning more about the fiscal and practical usability aspect in the real world of cryptocurrencies is noted.

My reply:

Well, first of all it will depend, as it is not the same if you have 2,000 euros as 200,000 euros. In the second case I would consult Crypto Spain or someone similar.
<...>
As a summary, and as I have just commented in another thread, it seems that what you are looking for is tax avoidance, which consists of minimising the payment of taxes within the law. None of the 5 points minimise it, so, as I said at the beginning, depending on the money you have, consider consulting an expert in tax avoidance, as no one on the local forum is one.

What he needs to do, as DdmrDdmr has recommended, is not to take things so personally, and I would add that even less so when he has not understood them.

PS: OP has finally understood and apologized, so I'm reporting the thread to be locked.

You create your account yesterday and you want to delete your account and all your post
Why ?
If you bothered to read the rest of the topic instead just reading the first post and hitting "reply" button, you could have gotten your answer why OP wants to delete his account and what he is afraid of.

@gsus.dev unless you shared some personal info (and based on your post history I don't think you did) there's nothing really to be scared of so imho there's no need to delete your account.

I want to delete my account and all the messages and threads I created.

10 activities, 10 posts and 6 merits, yet you insisted on deleting your account, the goodnews is that you can't, even if you deleted all your posts they can be source out using ninjastic thread, you haven't stated any reason for wanting to do such, maybe if i were you, all i could do is to edit out all my posts or delete my posts and then log out the forum, delete my history and also delete the app browser used, isn't that simple.

you got scared.

its okay to get scared.

every country has its own laws.

follow them and there is no worries.

of course if you dont follow your laws about tax you could get into trouble.

As per my knowledge and understanding only the admin can delete you account. It is obvious if your account is deleted your post and activities will get deleted. What I would like to know is why you want to do it? You have merits which can get you a member rank if you work or be active here.

What makes your profile interesting is your merit to post average. You have only 10 post with 6 merits, is this something for you asking to delete your profile? Creating such kind of topic will always result with questions.

It is nice to see that you have decided to stay back and not leaving because of the responds that you got from a user. Un his community, you should try and have a thick skin because there are different people from different background here and you should expect criticism from form members. You don't need to allow that to discourage you from learning and growing, because criticism will help you improve more when you are less concern and move on.

Why did you want to delete post including your accounts?
To me deleting your account by yourself is a bit difficult because you don't have access to do tha, what you should do is to have those post you don't want deleted or alternatively you leave them to serve as a reference purposes to how you started here. What most don't know is how to keep records on how they started forum from little and became larger.

Hello

I want to delete my account and all the messages and threads I created.

Thanks

You can't delete your account. But you can request it to theymos by sending him a pm with reason of you account deletion. If he accepts he might replace your post with anonymous users.

For the individual posts you can delete it by yourself that is easy and for the topics of of course you can't delete but you can edit. Edit each topic replace text with some garbage text or "x" something this and later moderators will delete the topic as well.

if you want to use a script then use this created by someone:

Since you cant delete your account here, and deleting posts manually one by one is a pain, i made a python script to automatically delete all posts that can be deleted, and to edit those which can only be edited (changes subject and message to "x")

Edit:

Based on your responses I will decide to stay in the forum and continue collaborating with others and learning new things.

wow glad to hear that you're considering staying on the forum and engaging with the community. Stay anonymous and stay vigilant never trust unknown emails or messages too.

You have only been using the bitcointalk forum for one day, but your understanding and experience is quite a lot wallau comes from your own self-taught, if you feel you have missed in the post, you can correct the source, your way of writing is neat in responding or thinking with the topic being discussed, it is difficult for a newbie to get a merit especially with a useful post, your post breaks the tradition for newbie, Grin if you can survive in my opinion your account will be quickly established, with your insight.

If your determination is already bu;lat to leave the forum, the way for private messages and topics that you write, you can delete one by one while for replies to other people's threads, you can click Report to moderator at the bottom right of your post and change the password randomly without remembering it, in my opinion it is not the active status of the account but no one will glance if your account has no posts. Hopefully your decision can be reconsidered, and maybe it's the best in your opinion. Smiley
