Because we like gambling too much. Even we may lose any momenta but still we can simply rest fow awhile then play again. It's the nature of human that keeps them coming every time they lose. They come back with the expectation of getting their loss back by betting more than what they lost and such GREED makes them lose more (if they lose again). Even if they win after their loss, they don't stop and keep trying their luck repeatedly which makes them lose in the long run.
That is right, the main reason is the greed of every one of us. We thought if we gamble we can make a lot of money from it and we will automatically rich but we won't because when we gamble, all we will ever experience is regret and jealousy. Regret because of the money we lost in gambling, jealousy because when someone won a game, you think you can make more than that and ended up losing.

And i think one the reason why people become addicted is people have always hope to win when they are loose and hope to win more when they are winning. I do not think the reason for all of them is the addiction. I bet it is the hope to win and the fallacy of winning after series of loses is the reason why people keeps on playing even if they always lose. The call for easy money in gambling is tempting and people were lure to play gambling because of it. Every thing has two responses, One is positive and second is negative. However gambling also give us 2 responses in our life, One is positive and second is negative. As you explain it is negative response on the people who are playing gambling without understand the bad evils and play it and in the end of the result they are crying.
