To be honest, I still feel like Satoshi is all of us. He lives within all of us, therefore we all are Satoshi.

They're just inside jokes of sorts I'm sure. It doesn't matter who Satoshi is, as he is gone and wants to be alone. It is what it is.

Not to the scoop-hungry bloggers and reporters who make a desperate attempt at getting the big hit. You should look around and there will probably be a "Satoshi FOUND!" blog/news article claiming some random guy is Satoshi.

I have long past begun to ignore such articles.

There's a reason Satoshi decided to remain anonymous.  He didn't want to become a 'Steve Jobs' - He wanted Bitcoin to develop from the efforts of a community, rather than from the mouth of a dictator...

Forever thankful to Satoshi, s/he is a genius for putting this experiment together, but when you look at it s/he basically just put together a bunch of pieces that were already around and possible only now at the time we live in. We all stand on the shoulders of giants.

Like how bitcoin works, satoshi should be left anonymous to everyone. There is an advantage in it and some people don't understand this.

I don't think we need to find out who the guy behind bitcoin is really. It is better off people don't know who satoshi is so he doesn't get prosecuted by federal authorities. If we had a bitcoin leader, it would really contradict the open nature of the technology.

Satoshi is anon developer who abandoned his project just like all the other devs who make pump and dumps.

Bitcoin is the biggest pump and dump in the history of PnDs,

bitcoin is nothing compared to stock pump and dumps. beside that, bitcoin is still here while not many expected that at the very beginning of bitcoin. satoshi most likely left as his side of the job was finished.

Well I guess we give the people a viable and working alternative to PayPal. Something not governed by a single person or a group, who will censor or ban users with lower fees and no charge backs. How does that sound?

Good to me. Paypal is around 100 transaction/sec so that would be at least a 15MB block as a start .
This sound more like Satoshi's view than Szabo to me.

At this moment many of the things Nick Szabo is saying, is the truth. Some people here would gladly dismiss him as being Satoshi, because it does not fit their agenda if he was Satoshi. It is true that we currently have a kind of Civil war going on. Gavin was the previous leader, and now he wants back in. Mike Hearn created the revolution to take over control from the Core guys and Gavin is supporting this.

Nick Szabo might not be Satoshi, but his views and the technology he created is the closest to what Satoshi had in mind, when he or they created Bitcoin.

We do not want another PayPal. Thanks.
The same argument can be used the other way round.  Szabo is quoted Satoshi because he made his position clear and this position fits their view.

Nobody here want a new paypal, then what?

Let people decide who they want their Satoshi to be, if that gives them comfort. We do not need to steer them in a direction we want them to follow. ^hmmm^

What I find very interesting is that it requires a centralized entity in order to direct consensus.

in all seriousness, Chuck Norris aside, I think you guys may be missing the bigger picture here.

Note: When clicking this thread, I thought it was about treating people like money.

Turns out I wasn't too far off.

Anyway, I don't wish to find our bitcoin messiah, I just hope we (the bitcoin community) can learn to handle ourselves. That's what bitcoin stands for, isn't it?

Peer to peer, no centralization. Even when deciding issues. That's the dream.

Man, going into this thread I thought people had finally realized Satoshi is a Interdimensional Time Traveling AI from the future.  Grin

"Can we quit pretending,"people," are Satoshi?"

I do not think people really would blindly follow Satoshi, I think it just became an icon like Chuck Norris (I hate those stupid discussions about how Cuck Norris can do whatever, but people is free to do/say/write whatever stupid thing they want).

Also, well, I think that as humans we feel attracted for guessing games, and this is a big one.

How dare you question Chuck Norris!

Did you know..........?

I quite recently though Szabo was Satoshi but with all the recent Szabo unprofessional post on twitter, it is clear that he is not Satoshi.

In times where there are no true leadership, people will find leadership in the one who bring the truth.  Roll Eyes

Nick Szabo is not a media junky and when he speaks, people listen. The podcast was very informative and many people wanted to know where he sided on this matter. We cannot ignore his opinion because he might

not happen to be Satoshi. We have listened to Gavin / Mike / Wladmir / Peter / Andreas and many other and none of it made more sense, than what Nick said in that single podcast.  Wink

Go back to the basics and put Bitcoin first.  Roll Eyes
