Me too. They let you get to know the person posting better. That can be hard in technically oriented forums like this sometimes.

If you like their post or if they help you out with anything it's a lot easier to read their sig than to PM their possibly-full inbox.

Whats really annoying is when a newbie comes on a forum and tells people they are doing it wrong.

I'd agree, but I'm pretty new too  Wink

Yeah honestly people begging for Btc is just annoying. No one is just going to randomly donate you bitcoins.

Thanks for the info Newbies... I must have imagined all the donations I've received for my contributions to this forum.  Oh and I never asked for them, people are just kind when you are helpful.

agreed, earn your coins!

Done that too, thanks.

Stop sounding like my ex wife and I might put some coin in your address! Oh but wait I don't know what it is?
I hope for your sake my signature doesn't sound like your ex wife.

This thread has motivated me to add a signature with my bitcoin address in it.

Well I got a few sensible replies, then everyone went all silly.
I think you might be using the wrong tense in that sentence?

Wooahh, sorry guy/gals, you've just torn right into me. I've heard from external sources this would be an aggressive forum, I didn't realise things were that bad here. I guess I should of stepped in more carefully.  No offense intended.
Also of is not a verb, just fyi. Angry

I get payments from folks sometimes and if they can't contact me they can just look in the forum or wherever else I've displayed an address.
They can also be seen as a statement, most people wouldn't put their bank details out so publicly, and they certainly show that you might be a knowledgable bitcoineer.  Cool

Hah... torn into you.  Wait until you are on the receiving end of one of my diatribes.

Besides, turn off forum signatures.  Most peoples signatures are annoying as all hell to begin with, I've turned off signatures a long time ago and certainly don't miss them.

Why would you want to get rid of donation addresses?

People go to a lot of effort to provide useful information and some of us choose to reward that information and those peoples' time-sharing with a BTC or two. Donation addresses in signatures make it easy to do that anonymously and safely.

these forums are not aggressive... try reddit sometime. i guess it kinda depends on the community though.

But its kinda standard for anonymous communication. Dont let it bother you that people are able to talk to you without a social filter, take it for what it is...
