I never thought about it as my posts rarely gets removed from sel-moderated topics. Until I experienced same what most of us did few days ago when one user deleted so many posts in his self moderated topics. I think it doesn't makes much sense why link to topic isn't given.
Yes, there is workarounds, but it doesn't makes task easier when is message that we get msg or topic ID isn't given.

It's probably in relation to the (irony - self moderated thread) about how someone who should know better is crying their posts in a self moderated thread have been deleted. (I wouldn't worry about it too much - those deleted posts don't count towards bpip's posts made Vs posts deleted counting - just the Forum Activity count...

There's quite a character assination going on here in the Forum at the moment.

I just got a pm that one of my post was deleted,

when we get such massages.

Massages can be reassuring...

And that would be bad because... ?

Considering the recent drama we have witnessed here, I would not mind having just a TL;DR version.  Wink

Last two weeks I got same notification through my inbox and two of post were deleted in a self moderated topic, so I did bother to make an appeal of the topic because some days are like that, and your posts will be deleted without a cogent reason's.

What I wanted to moderators is that while is that some post is very formative get deleted when someone that do reports constantly reports a cogent and sensible response from a user...because what normally happens in all this self moderated thread is hatred and disagreement between Mr A and Mr B when they have had a disagreement in the forum.

But that is not the rightful way to show person envy and dislike from my perspective, some people do reports their call mate posts base on a minor issues in the forum.. I will not worry about the link or anything because each of my post I make in the forum I know exactly the boards I make my posts and I know how many response I make in one particular board..

No, you get the same notification even if the topic is not a self-moderated topic or message is deleted by a moderator.

So I guess same notification template is used for both post deletion and topic deletion too. That's why it does not have links.

You can use modlog page with your account ID and will get the topic name and link without need for third-part service.
In moderated topic you cant search it in modlog but I agree with the need of add link.

I can't find a logical reason why it should not be there.
SMF is old Wink

If there's a quote inside the deleted post, clicking the quote usually brings me to the topic. This is definitely something that can be improved (also when a Mod deletes a post). Adding the topic title and a link to the topic make it much easier to find back (without using third party tools).

Another forum I visit sends a short summary every 6 months or so, usually based on some large changes and the rest based on which topics I've been active in. But by the time I haven't visited that forum for 6 months, I'm not so interested anymore. So I don't think it's worth the effort.

I just got a pm that one of my post was deleted, but there is no link to the thread and even not the subject of the thread. Like I have to remember where I posted it like 3-4 years ago maybe even older.

Here's the how the message looks like:

Could be nice if we get some sort of info when we get such massages.

I agree with you there should be some info about the deleted post, but I think this is by design, with some valid reasons

1. Link to the post doesn't make sense because it's deleted
2. Same thing applies to Topic, for example if the Topic it-self is deleted there's no use of adding a broken-link to the topic too.

The reason the link was not added may be that you cannot verify it without using a third-party service.
As for not mentioning the topic link, perhaps it is because it is a self-moderated topic, and this means that the topic-starter does not want you to respond to it, and therefore it is better to ignore it, but I agree with you. The topic link must be added, especially if the topic is related to active scam.

Glad you are still here and I hope you have more free time to continue posting. The forum needs you.

No, you get the same notification even if the topic is not a self-moderated topic or message is deleted by a moderator.

So I guess same notification template is used for both post deletion and topic deletion too. That's why it does not have links.

Suggestion, yes a adding a Topic Subject in the notification would be a great addition.

I saw a user [sorry can not recall his username] who creates SMF patches. He may try something for theymos.

Is it PowerGlove?
Yes, that's him. PowerGlove, you know now 🤓

I love the  op patch.
I don't know if the other patches were added but OP patch was the most useful so far for me and I loved it too.

One thing I do is look at my post list for five days to see if it was recent. After that I mostly say fuck it oh well.
I don't even bother to recall if that is from recent or old. The expression I give is, F**k it!

Could be nice if we get some sort of info when we get such massages.
Like you hinted on the title, a link can solve it. I saw a user [sorry can not recall his username] who creates SMF patches. He may try something for theymos.

A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by the starter of a self-moderated topic. There are no rules of self-moderation, so this deletion cannot be appealed. Do not continue posting in this topic if the topic-starter has requested that you leave.

You can create a new topic if you are unsatisfied with this one. If the topic-starter is scamming, post about it in Scam Accusations.

I post a lot. So one of the most annoying this I can get is a mystery deleted post message.
I can possible spend days trying to find the post. So I give a quick look see and then stop.

I totally agree with you as extra info is also needed when our posts get deleted. I think it's always better to avoid self-moderated threads in first place because they OP can do anything with our posts without any question. However, it's strange that 3-4 years old posts can be deleted as it's not necessary for any OP to delete posts after many years but the self-moderated OP can do whatever he/she wants and there's no-one to stop him/her for doing that.

I planned to start something like this[1] up a couple of months back, but never got to kickstart the idea.

For one the poll voted that they will not be interested and it will be something I may not be able to keep up with consistency, so I opted against starting it up but may reconsider my decision if there is any reason to do so.

Very interesting idea! How come no one thought of it over all these years? It could even turn out to be profitable. I would not mind seeing a couple of subtly placed banners in it.

Cheers, I miss you guys really 🍺😊

Thanks guys,  I know the workarounds but for me it should be logical to get the info in the pm, that what made me surprised, and I can't find a logical reason why it should not be there.

Hoping for a better time ahead and to come back again as in the good old days Smiley

While I agree that info like title of the topic and the user name of topic starter could be useful, we also both know that if you search the quoted text on https://ninjastic.space/search you'll find the missing piece(s) of the puzzle (meanwhile this was already said).

For example, I think that the post you are talking about starts with "Back in the day" and ends with "feeling" and was deleted in 25 October Cheesy

As background info, in case you've missed it, Ratimov has removed quite a bunch of his self-mod topics and all the posts from them.

If the post is some years old there is just 1 option that you have to look for and thats at http://ninjastic.space/ and you will find the topic.
But yes you are right it would be helpfull if we get a link to the topic where the post was deleted and not only the deleted message in a quote.
I was a few times also in that situation that i have to remember where the post was made.
