Man, your chirps just crack me up... I would spend a month in a cave with you and not be bored for a day.  Grin ....That is, if I can chew on the same things, you are smoking.... that would make it even more funny. {Thinking of the movie "Up in Smoke"}

Back to the topic... Nope... it will not work, the closest we ever got to that was the "Euro" and it's failing spectacularly in most smaller countries within the Euro zone.  Sad

I say yes. I think that's what Bitcoin is all about and it's the reason we're all here...

agreed.

Sadly we are moving towards some kind of collectivist system which theyll probably end up calling communism or socialim again if they are stupid enough because they actually want it...

If you talk to stundents all over the planet... and people will vote themselfs into dependency once again because they think you can trust a dude with a stash or a beard  who looks promising to print up health care and schools.. but yeah

Socialism because, fuck it.. sounds good ..

Socialism can work if people are accountable and responsible.

the thing is.. if you would let laissez faire develop nobody would even want socialism.

i think socialism can only work if you abolish the idea of government intervention in the economy.. if you dont want the govt in the business of religion for preserving freedom of speech, you also have to want that in the sphere of money and in general economic transactions

without competition you cant have innovation and if you destroy that feature in so many industries civilization will die because our production couldnt adapt to todays standards... this of course happens slowly but gradually

but as austrian economics teaches us its just a non viable economic system that relies on killing competition for the good of the consumer.

but it really depends on what you mean by socialism

The ultimate fate of humanity always brings is closer together to each other, the internet is a big demonstration of that. More and more cultures are merging with each other and becoming blurred. The next step will be doing the same, but with money.
I agree with this view, the problem is humans are very ego driven and they like all those stupid flag wars, they would fight for their own "culture" instead of trying to unite as one, so it will be a huge amount of effort and problems in trying to make people forget about their beloved national fiats.

I voted for no! Actually it is recommend to regionalize currencies instead of globalize or denationalize them more.

"I don't believe we shall ever have a good money again before
we take the thing out of the hands of government,
that is, we can't take them violently out of the hands of government,
all we can do is by some sly roundabout way introduce something
that they can't stop."

What really blows my mind about this quote is the date, it's from 1984! Talk about thinking ahead of his time, wow! Back then, such a concept as trustless money must have seemed to most a childish impossibility. But not to Hayek, he knew better.

Actually, he is reiterating concepts he had already made concrete in the mid-70's, see my signature link, check out "Resources".

Bitcoin is brilliant invention yet people from our own community are trolling us with: "Bitcoin is Dead" posts everyday. It is hard to believe that bitcoin will succeed when even the core supporters are being pessimistic.

Newbies are not core supporters.

Listening to the impatient whines of the get rich quick crowd is neither healthy nor informative.

So for now we have a great alternative to FIAT - it is called bitcoin. But I am starting to realise that people with too much freedom are starting to do stupid things hence our not so good bitcoin standing.

Holy fucking shit, that's too good! I like what he says about atomic war, too. He believes states won't ever use them, only use them as threat. "In the end atomic war is not a war, it is the end of civilization"
