But seriously, you have a billion DVC?  I know you've gotten a bunch of bounties, but wow, that's a lot of coins.
It sounds unlikely. At 24,660 blocks, 50,000 coins per block, that's 1.233  billion coins in circulation.

Agreed, I was trying to be lighthearted and silly, which can be tough through online forums.

We're all good now.

sweet, that works for me, I think I have over a billion of them, I would love to see the value spike. I refuse to sell them at these low rates, whats the point?

heh, a billion?  Is that a real number?  I recall a month ago when I was slandered on a website for unknowingly "accidentally" withdrawing 6 million, haha.

Looking forward to merged mining.   I'll be about 4-5 days, yes?

2) If Eligius is merged mining, but not distributing I0coins and Ixcoins, then why is Eligius's posted hash rate 300+ and I0coin and Ixcoin hash rates in the 200's?
Maybe he's not merged mining 100% of the pool? In IRC he didn't actually mention it was Eligius, he said he was MM. I assumed it was Eligius as I thought that was his only access to that hash power, so possibly it's something else. Or he's joking around which wouldn't be the first time!

1) I'm not so sure if you heard him correctly cablepair....  He said mine and sell... which will plummet the price of DVC... further...

luke-jr has said on irc that he plans to merge mine devcoins when block 25,000 comes around on his eligius pool. From the conversation I think the plan is to mine and sell them immediately so expect interesting changes in the devcoin value at that point. He's currently doing this with i0coin and ixcoin which is why their hash rate has jumped hugely.

What is the current hashrate of the entire devcoin network?

How do you caclulate the hashrate of the network? Is it "only" a matter of checking the timestamps of the most recent blocks and together with the current difficult rate calculate the hasrate?

If that's all there is to it, I could possibly add some infos into the exchange, as I have all the daemons running, I have access to all the info provided by getinfo.

Done, hashrates of the exchange's supported currencies are shown, the calculation is rather trivial (wont consider difficulty changes during the polling period which is once every 10 minutes). But I did a 4 hour and a 24 hour comparison to give an indication in which direction the hash rate is going.  Interesting to see that SC is showing that high, not sure whether the calculation formula applies to SC too. Sad to see the rather low DVC hashrate.

Rock on!  this info will certainly help to establish your exchange for miners.

But what happens to the funds that are "stuck"? They got deducted from my balance, didn't they?

I think if you were to rescan devcoin the balance would be updated.  To be certain that no one ever somehow copies the transaction and double spends it, you could try generating a new address and sending all your devcoins there.

Quote
Now I will have to increase the withdrawal fees to ensure transaction processing. 100DVC would be an equivalent of 0.0001 BTC (assuming an ex. rate of 0.000001 BTC/DVC). I guess that should be an acceptable fee and ensure no further hinderance in withdrawals.

To stop spam, every coin will have to ban free transactions. So all exchanges will have to increase withdrawal fees on all coins.
