BTW, I just signed up for pool.devcoin.org and I never got the email to confirm my email address.  Is the server sending email correctly?

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. So if I want to mine at pool.devcoin.org, I would just use any bitcoin miner and point it to the pool IP and port?

even at the current difficulty we are seeing 50, even 100 share rounds at pool.devcoin.org so solo CPU mining would probably take some time, it would be more practical to mine with a single low speed card if you want to solo

Given the current difficulty of 57.3, is it practical to mine devcoins with a CPU?  How long would you estimate it would take to find a block this way?

Is there an compiled binary of devcoind for Linux (ubuntu) anywhere?

http://pool.devcoin.org/files/daemons/

you can also find bitcoind, namecoind, geistgeldd, litecoind, & solidcoind binaries there

there were all compiled on
Linux 104 2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.028stab094.3PAE i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

That's great, you get 2/5 share for devcoin developent, in bounty 7:

Okay, I have added advertising using OperationFabulous. Here's my bitcoin address: 12sjCiDCEiqdAKbzfrf91mqGthJ8ddMzd8  Thanks!

Thanks for the advertising and for mirroring.

I sent 40 BTC and provisionally I will in turn get 4 extra generation shares in round 7.  If anyone wants up to 4 extra shares, I will trade them at 10 BTC/share, until block 24,500.  The round 7 receiver file will be made at around block 25,000.

The round 7 bounty file is at:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/bounty_7.csv
Thank you, bounty received.

From the bounty update:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.614316

The basic wiki gets 20 bitcoin, and adding advertising gets another 20 bitcoin.  Once you've added advertising, and just the adsense sidebar is sufficient, post that and a bitcoin address and I'll send you 40.  If you don't want to add advertising, post a bitcoin address and I'll send 20.

In another post:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.654190

to get the second maintenance share, please mirror the primary devtome:
http://www.devtome.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

If anyone else else makes a devtome wiki, you'll get 1/4 of the bounty.  However, we really don't need a fourth wiki, so please contribute to devtome instead:

I have set up i2p tunnelling that in theory should allow people to connect to my Open Transactions server over i2p.

I haven't yet found anyone who uses i2p and has an interest in Open Transactions / *coin exchanges / *coin stock-exchanges to actually make the attempt to connect to it yet though.

For what it's worth, I have gone ahead and created another Devcoin wiki here: http://devtome.usingbitcoin.com/

Well, as O'Brien said, "in a crunch I wouldn't like to be caught without a second backup":

..
go ahead and check it out, It works perfectly from start to finish.

Indeed, I just checked the spam folder and all nine emails are in there.  I forgot to move the spam folder into the main list for that email account so I didn't see that it was getting filled.  I don't know why the email on Nov 26 got through and the recent ones didn't.  I'm sorry for taking your time.

I just tested the entire process, it works perfectly just like you wanted it to

for someone to get an account they have to click login/create an account

then they have to click request an account
and fill out the form

then they get a confirmation email

then when they confirm the email

an admin can confirm the account by going to special pages
Users and Rights > Confirm Account Requests

go ahead and check it out, It works perfectly from start to finish.

Unthinkingbit I just confirmed your test3 account you requested

I tried logging in to it, but I have not received a password by mail or personal message, so I could not log in.

If you are using automatic email, please test it with a gmail account.  I've only received only email from the wiki, on November 26.  Despite clicking the button several times for Test2 and Test4, starting yesterday, I have not received another email.

damn I feel like a loser now that we have to have multiple backup wikis lol Sad

That was part of the bounty:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.614316

The reason for the backup wiki is simply because sometimes the first of anything doesn't completely work or is abandoned, and because independent backups are necessary.
