I still changed all of my passwords on important sites -- but I forgot Dropbox, where I was using the same email address and password as the old mtgox one.
If you are meaning to say you were storing your wallet unencrypted on DropBox, that outcome is not surprising.

I figured out what I think is the only possible attack vector. The mtgox leak include an old password of mine, one that was never used on mtgox while the account was active. I would guess the other guy was hacked in the same way, given that it happened when both of us had our computers turned off.

this is one of Bitcoins biggest flaws - most ppl are to dumb to know how to secure their wallet / computer and when their funds are lost or stolen they lose faith in the bitcoin system.
This doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoin. It has to do with not being able to secure your own computer and avoid stupid mistakes. It's no different from their Quicken Data File, the passwords on their online banking sites, and spreadsheets they have in their My Documents folder that contain personal or private information.
Securing their Wallet is no different, and it isn't the Bitcoin GUI's issue if someone can't do that. Can it be made better, sure. But it has NOTHING to do with Bitcoin itself.
Perhaps someone could market a secure USB device for noobs that does everything for them - encrypts and keeps their wallet safe while housing their core Bitcoin application used for transfers. $$$$ .

Unfortunately, it requires someone to first believe they are susceptible to being hacked; that they have current anti-virus and anti-malware installed on their broken operating system, and that they aren't dumb enough to install obviously hacked software like GUIMiner_Cracked.

Though you could get yourself in a mess trying to use multiple wallets if you aren't careful.
It might be best to spend your coins from your wallet (e.g., to a wallet on another computer or to an online eWallet), archive it, test the archive, then delete the wallet so that bitcoin will create a new, empty wallet that you would use exclusively going forward.

What system do you have? Windows? Anybody heard of any trojans or hacks on mac against bitcoin wallets yet?
I don't know of any bitcoins lost as a result but there was an incident where DropBox was not secure for a period of time a few days ago.

Anyone storing their wallet on dropbox unencrypted, *AND HAD THEIR DROPBOX ACCOUNT ACCESSED* during that time, would be at risk.
The problem is that the only way to know if your account had been compromised was by receiving a notice from DopBox saying so.
If the wallet was grabbed, not only are any coins in the wallet at risk, any future coins received (over the next 100 transactions, if the wallet uses the default address pool size) would be at risk as well.
In other words, if you happened to use DropBox to archive your wallet, unencrypted -- treat that wallet as if it were compromised. Move your coins to a new location (e.g., an eWallet provider, such as MyBitcoin) and then create a new wallet.
