Did ISIS Really Passed On BitcoinWell, I agree with the former under secretary.
Maybe, they are just stalling the media or giving false news about them making a new currency.
Anyway, if they do use Bitcoin, price shouldve been astronomical by now.
This topic is a distraction.
1. If you've watched any of the reports, you would've seen that most folks in ISIS controlled land is not computer geeks, and many don't even have an education. Many can't probably even read and write.
2. Much infrastructure is broken. Many places you are unlikely to be able to use the internet.
3. They're probably using cash to pay for stuff. As in fiat money.
Topics like these are like grasping for straws. If you do research and see how ISIS have financed themselves, you will understand.
Anyone talking about Bitcoin in this context, and how bad it could be for Bitcoin and humanity, and how much of a terrorist tool it is, is misguided at best.
There was terrorism before Bitcoin was invented. Terrorism is not attached to any particular technology or payment instrument.
Likewise, Bitcoin is neutral technology, and can be used for good and bad. On US highways every day, thousands of criminals drive their cars. Should we shut down the roads, because there are criminals using them? Are the roads a facilitator for crime? After all, if you cannot get from A to B to commit a planed crime, the crime will never take place. Is the solution then to close the road for everybody?
Of course that's utter silliness. And it is just as silly to attack bitcoin and try to put a terrorism-label on it. The only ones having an interest of doing so are the distractors who rather not see bitcoin succeed. Forums such as this is infiltrated with people that are trying to sway opinion in that regard. It's an unintelligent and insulting method of debate.
You also state that if they (IS) used bitcoin, the price would be astronomical by now. That's a statement you need to give a source for, or give us some arguments as to why you think that is the truth.
