Another aspect that drives me nuts about these threads is watching pages of people after the game has started or not understanding a game can not end in a tie. To me this is pure signature or account farming. Would suggest maybe changing the prize based on level of the account.
Jr. members getting half the prize amount to some what limit the multi account aspect that seems evident in the thread.

The thing is that the prize is pretty small anyway (1mbtc is less than 5$) - halving the prize wouldn't discourage them but it would punish genuine guesses. And the hockey prediction can be a tie, albeit rarely, since shootouts aren't counted.
I agree that it's annoying but you've just got to let it fly. It's a small consolation that whatever they stand to win is being negated by the electricity and time they waste constantly F5ing the thread and logging in/out etc
