Just a quick heads up for all you punters out there.
During the DDOS attack on Directbet a few nights ago, I managed to lose £55,000 in Darkcoins.
Obviously my poor judgement is not Directbet's fault. However, because I was stupidly betting blind because the web site wasn't available I did not have the usual Win or Lose visual cue which contributed to me losing more than I normally would before calling it a night. I had no idea how far in the hole I was.
When I realised how far I was down, I panicked and tried to win it back and ended up with nothing. All before the web site came back up again. Standard big loss tale really.
Obviously I made a huge mistake but I have suggested to Directbet that whilst their site is under attack and web pages not visible it might be fair to customers to suspend betting (or refund bets accordingly). Blind blockchain betting is not what directbet is about. Directbet initially conversed with me about this but have since gone silent.
If Directbet want to be the most professional outfit out there, they shouldn't make it possible for punters to bet blind. A quick check with other online sportsbooks show that most suspend betting if their web site is down. Please keep this in mind should Directbet "go dark" again.
Sadly, this is an otherwise perfect trust rating tarnished for me and I'll be taking my custom elsewhere. One more further word of warning, as far as I can tell Direcbet are not licensed to operate as a bookmaker in the country they operate out of or in their major markets.
How did you manage to do this with the site down? DirectDice or something? If you were sports betting you'd need the wbsite to generate an address to send to surely?
Dice. Every time I tried to generate a new address the site timed out. Every time I tried to review betting history, the site timed out.
Not trying to deflect from my bad decisions but hopefully providing a useful warning to some and also some useful feedback to Directbet.
Edit: just had an email from Directbet saying that dice rolls didn't happen whilst the web site was unavailable during the DDOS over the weekend which confusingly contradicts what they posted on this forum during the attack.
Anyway, I don't wish to air my dirty washing in public.
Bet safely and sensibly everybody.
