And as mentioned before when betting in play, sending a series of 50 Eth bets isn't going to work.

Thanks again for your feedback. It is valuable for us and we will look for ways to improve that in the future.

I'd rather you gave me a lower limit that was guaranteed.

If you bet 50 ETH or less it is guaranteed not to be rejected for being over the limit.

The max bet size usually increases as we approach the event start time as odds become more reliable.

During UFC in-play betting the odds are often less reliable and therefore the max bet size is usually reduced to 50 ETH.

Yes I understand I can bet 50 ETH to guarantee it goes through, but I want to bet more than that and seemingly sometimes you guys want to accept the bets.   This is not related to UFC only, the same problem is with football too (I posted the exact same thing with the Chelsea v Real Madrid game)

No 'real' bookmakers have this issue, I can bet on Ladbrokes, William hill, paddy power etc and I am never going to have a bet declined like this.  If you're willing to take a 500 Ether bet it doesn't seem to make sense that the limit drops to 50 Ether a minute later, then another minute later shoots back up to 300 ethers, then down to 100, then back to 500. Its awful for the customer as its now down to sheer luck whether the bet is going to be honoured or not. And as mentioned before when betting in play, sending a series of 50 Eth bets isn't going to work.

Been waiting for my bet on Leo Santa Cruz by decision to confirm for about an hour. If the fight starts before my bet confirms, I will get a refund, right?

Can you please PM me your bet ID so that I can look into it ?

If your bet was not confirmed for a long time I assume you used the Negotiate Odds betting option while setting the minimum required odds too high. In that case yes if your bet will not confirm by the start of the event it will get refunded, and you can reduce the minimum required odds to the current odds in order to get it confirmed instantly.

AFAIK your bet will only refund after the match or until the bet is not available. If it confirms while inplay it will still be counted tho

I've just been done out of a bet because of that bet limit issue I posted about earlier.

I tried to put that bet on in play, I placed it quickly but the bet limit changed and by the time that went from 'no bet received' to 'pending' to 'rejected' I'd lost the chance to place the bet again. So about $1500 in profit just went up in smoke.  The current system of bet limits is poor from the user point of view.  Your suggestions last time simply don't work - if I'm betting on a fight with 2 minutes left I can't split my bet into 10 transactions, or use the negotiate odds option.

edit - just to pre-empt anyone else jumping on this.  I'm obviously not expecting this bet to be paid out, since it was cancelled and refunded as per the rules.  I just want to see a better system for managing bet limits so that we're not placing bets in the first place that will end up cancelled.

I'd rather you gave me a lower limit that was guaranteed.  If rather you'd let me I'd have put 300 Ether on if it was 100% going to be honoured, than take my chances with a 500 Eth bet that may or may not be allowed to go through.

Here's a good example of the wide disparity between DirectBet's awful live odds and other sportsbooks. In the just completed Jorge Masvidal vs Ross Pearson fight on the UFC 201 tv prelims. After round 2 the odds were:

5Dimes
Jorge Masvidal -2575
Ross Pearson +1300

DirectBet
Jorge Masvidal -10000
Ross Pearson +440

Minus ten thousand, really? Who is ever going to bet that? And only +440 for the underdog as opposed to +1300. At least they put up both sides in this case, but these horrible live odds are par for the course.

What about https://www.directbet.eu/Event.cshtml?EventID=27867265?

I've just put a 200 Ether bet on the main event but I couldn't place this bet earlier today due to bet limits. Again its not a major issue as I intend to stay up and watch the fights anyway but from a customer point of view I'd rather be able to place bets at my convenience, not making them at 1am because this was the first time the bet limits were large enough.

I just tried to compare Krylov, 4/9 odds on PaddyPower but I can't even bet on him on Direct Bet (though I can bet on his opponent)

It's available now :

And if a bettor does find a rare spot and put a bet in, the odds are moved around so randomly and quickly that even if you rush and send your bet in as fast as your fingers can type in your wallet, it often gets rejected as the odds have changed in the meantime, which ends up costing some coin for the transfer fees.

Thanks for your feedback.

To avoid rejections during in-play betting it is recommended that you use the Flexible Odds or Negotiate Odds betting options.

We explain these options in more details here :

https://directbet.eu/FAQ.cshtml#BetOptions

Try using the Negotiate Odds betting option during MMA in-play. You will usually be able to obtain better odds for your bets because if the odds go up, even briefly, and meet your minimum odds requirement, your bet will confirm at the higher odds. The draw back for this option is that there is no guarantee that your bet will confirm, though you can cancel your bet at any time if you change your mind as long as it is not yet confirmed.

It seems to be very hit and miss with the UFC stuff.  Right now with the Namajunas fight and the Lawler one, it'd be better to bet on Direct Bet than Paddy Power.  But sometimes that goes massively in the other direction.   Combine that with a max bet of only 50 Eth and its really not great.  I love using them for soccer but MMA there is poor overall.

You guys have to get real with your odds if you expect people to use DirectBet to wager on MMA or boxing. I've tried many times as I'm a big combat sports gambler but it's almost impossible to ever put a wager down for a whole host of reasons. Firstly, your pre-fight moneylines are consistently far worse than just about every decent fiat and most Bitcoin sportsbooks out there. Then the live lines during the fights are so heavily juiced it's ridiculous. One fighter looks like he or she is ahead 10-9 after round 1 and the odds jump to -1500 or -3300 or even -10000. Who is going to bet at those sucker prices? And most of the time, even if the fight is competitive, you only put up one side live once the fight gets a few minutes underway- either the favorite or the underdog- not both sides, depending on who looks like they are losing. I have never seen a sportsbook only put up one side live during a fight. And even then the odds are so disadvantageous only a fool would wager at the terrible prices usually offered.

Is there anything that can be done with the issue of rejecting bets for being over the limits?

During in-play betting, the max bet size may fluctuate.

To avoid rejections you have two options :

1) Send 1 BTC at a time (in case of Ether that is 50 ETH). This will guarantee that your bet will not be rejected due to over limit. After your bet is confirmed, refresh the Bet Status page and it will tell you whether you can send more.

or

2) Use the Negotiate Odds betting option. If your bet is over the limit it will be set to Negotiate state and it will be confirmed if and when your stake and odds requirements are met. This is useful during in-play betting when the max bet size fluctuates and you want to wager the max amount.

Please refer to https://directbet.eu/FAQ.cshtml#MaxBet for more details and feel free to contact us for any further information.

Its really not good for the user experience when you're trying to place large bets.  That 500 ether bet was within the allowed limits when I went to pay for it, but it must have changed in the following seconds and my bet gets declined.  Then I'm refreshing the page and watching the bet amount randomly jump between 50, 100, 200+ , etc etc.

I placed another bet at a smaller amount immediately afterwards, but if I didn't have any more Ether in my account I'd also need to wait on the first one refunding.  Not a major issue if you're betting on future events but given we're betting in play that could be a massive loss (for either me or you depending on what happens on the park in that time Cheesy )

I love using your site and betting with Ether but for me this is the one poor part of the service that I simply wouldn't see if I bet on Ladbrokes or PaddyPower.
