Due to Scrypt/GPU mining being quite unprofitable for the last few months I haven't been able to expand or update the website and the thread the way I would like to. Now I'm facing either having to replace a few defective ASICs and GPUs and continue mining for the sole purpose of collecting stats or dump the hardware on eBay and focus on something that makes more sense, like mining good old Bitcoin. Not a difficult decision really.
The original intent of the thread was to evaluate the reliability/profitability/trustworthiness/etc of mining pools (and later rental services), so let me leave a few observations to that effect.
Scrypt mining is obviously not as profitable as it used to be and is largely synonymous with Litecoin mining these days. Some multipools have closed down (Waffle and TMB to name a couple) and there is a couple of solid options remaining that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend: Nicehash/Westhash (NH) and Clevermining (CM). NH can sometimes be finicky due to it being a rental site disguised as a pool, so try them both and see which one works best for your situation.
GPU mining seems to be mostly focused around X11 and perhaps one or two other algorithms that come and go. Again NH would be my primary recommendation here.
And if you're not willing to put in a little more work than just point your rig at a pool - check out MiningRigRentals (MRR). There is a bit of extra effort needed to set up your rigs, update pricing, and keep an eye on downtime, but it often pays a lot better. My favorite set up is MRR with NH/CM as backup pools. And not just for Scrypt or GPU mining but for SHA256 as well.
I will keep the rental pricing page - including MRR and NH data - updated on http://cryp.today for as long as I can. The process is mostly automatic and does not involve my mining hardware, so it should stay running at least until any major changes happen to the APIs on the rental sites.
The revenue charts will stop being updated sometime between now and the end of June. Old data will still be available here: http://cryp.today/old-chart-page
And last but not least - thank you to all who supported this effort.
I agree until i can afford a few A2s or a even a titan or 2 i don't bro with script mining any more other then because i like to from time to time .but mining bitcoins is still very profitable and profitability is a point of view it seems, i have reached ROI with my Three S5 i bought back in Jan of this year which did allow me to buy a used S5 which actually to me was blessing in discuss one blade stopped working after one day the seller sent me another S5 told me to keep the one blade working S5 which i will fix over time.
i think in total i have mined close to 7 bit coins or more with them i have re invested the coins i made and bought more hash etc i think you know the drill. ofc i have nothing to show for it because i spent what i didn't invest, which now i am starting to save, for more miners etc .
