I tend to cry for a long time after loosing big and then take a long rest or maybe go out and have some movie time after loosing big in gambling. After that the next day I make my strategy on how to break even and make up for that big loss. But I always keep in mind that it's just gambling and losses come around it's no big deal, even if I won't be able to break even then also my life won't end here and I'll be having many opportunities in the future too.
Chasing losses is always be a bad thing because it would really just result into more further loss. This is why its important that
accepting losses and move one or call it a day.Dont force nor aim that you should break-even because most of the time
gambling are really meant for someone to lose unless if youre lucky then you would win some.

Overcoming losses wont really be that necessary if you are really not aiming for money. As long you do spend the
amount that you can afford to lose then it wont really be a big issue.

You are on point with your advice. As a gambler, you are well aware of the potential income and risk of gambling. Stressing too much about your loss can really lead to depression especially if it is something that you have saves for a long time or is an allotted budget for something important. I know this is easier said than done, but there is no one else to blame but your self if you are driven by greed while gambling which resulted in a huge loss.

As a gambler, it's difficult to apply "learn from experience" because once you had gotten over your loss and gambled again the cycle would just keep going. At this point, you should stop and ask your self if you can afford gambling with such losses or not. You should also assess your self if you are really capable or even have a luck in gambling.

Always, it starts with your emotion, knowing how to manage your emotion will reduce the risk,
You mention the main point, buddy. Controlling emotion is the key to prevent the risk of a big loss, and avoid more losses after a big loss. However, to manage emotion isn't an easy way, some people failed to do this. But, we have no choice, we must learn to manage emotions in order to make our gambling safer. Even if it is hard, we can try more until we can succeed to control it. Maybe one of the ways is by reading the expert's experience or tips from various articles.  Wink

if you ever lose big money in gambling, you need to accept that and learn from your mistake,
Correct. Accept it and don't be influenced by the temptation to overcome it immediately. We must have this mindset if we want to survive in gambling. Also, learn from mistakes is a must, it is the source to get understanding in solving the same problem in the future.

It is very hard to overcome the big loss in gambling because we will be very sad, and I think we need a long time to calm ourselves down from the loss.
We need to stop gambling for some time if the loss is big, so we don't think about the loss, but we can try to refresh our mind from gambling.
Or we can stop gambling forever because gambling is not for making money.
It's the outcome that no gambler would want to experience, I've experience some big loses in the past and thankful I'll able to overcome it easily.
Always, it starts with your emotion, knowing how to manage your emotion will reduce the risk, and if you ever lose big money in gambling, you need to accept that and learn from your mistake, not accepting the reality will just make prolong the problem and it will cause trouble in our daily lives.

We have made mistakes because we are just human, so let's just accept it and move on, there's lot to do and explore in life, you can't be stuck with one mistake.

We can try to use other jobs that can give us a probability of making money, and we don't have to lose money again from gambling.
After all, it's not suited for us.

Gambling in the first place should not be the way to make money if we are not a professional gambler, and if we have problem like I've mentioned and we have a job, if we will not accept the reality, it will bother us and we can't give our best in performing our job.

In order to overcome a big loss from gambling you need to do 2 things:

1) Take break and try to understand what went wrong. In this stage you will cry like a baby, tell yourself that you a piece of shit and all these self-destructive activities.

2) Understand that shits happen to everyone and it is a very natural think. Truly understand that you are fully responsible for your loss and no one else. Take you loss and deal with it. It has happened you cannot undone it,no one can.

3) Correct the mistakes that you have done and try again. This time you need to put processes which will stop you from doing the same mistake again.

Good luck. Life is unpredictable, shits happen to everyone, learn from them and become stronger. With time you will build confidence because of the shits that you have overcome and you are still here and fighting.

Not pressuring myself to regain losses is what should work first for me. Without the hunger in playing and gaining back your losses, you can overcome those huge amounts of loss.

If you have no will to retain it back, you won't be pressure at least for the moment you have thought of it. So your mind can relax and can focus with things that you have to work for.

How to overcome a big loss in gambling?
It doesn't have to be overcome. It just didn't come to that.

This premise is very bad and predictable in the world of betting, so why support it if it can be avoided, if you read something about game theory, you can realize that the fundamental thing is to always have a strategy that allows you to overcome adversities. So before you start playing set them up.

Let me explain, one cannot say that $ 3,000 is a big loss, we don't really know that until we set the parameters. So the first thing a person should do to avoid "unexpected" losses or "big losses" is to know what your gambling capital is (Bankroll).

Sometimes players f*ck up.  Even with all sets parameters, there are times where he loses control of himself (probably too much confidence that he will win).  So, in that situation the player needs to overcome it since he has his regret of not following his set plan.
Finally:
If you only play for fun, why play for real money! bet with play money.
The one who plays for real fun never complains even losing $ 3000, it's a fun story to tell.

Fun, yeah play with play money but most people wanted fun up to the next level which is coupled with excitement.  Though they do not complain if they losses, often times losing players have the regrets and wanted to take back what is lost.

Rule Number 1: After a huge loss, take a break.
Agree, it is better to take a break once we got a huge loss. We need to make our selves be calm first and not to be influenced by the temptation to recover it as soon as possible. Thinking to recover the losses in an instant way should lead to more losses because of no good strategy and preparation. Also, we need to have a calm mind to play with our best.

Gambling for fun rather than as a source of income also avoids any pressure or stress that may come up as a result of a huge loss.
Yeah, if we can play gambling for fun, it is a good way. But not all gamblers have the same mindset, some of them may consider more on the money. Even if no problem to expect money, but as you said, it will cause pressure in gambling.

Let me explain, one cannot say that $ 3,000 is a big loss, we don't really know that until we set the parameters. So the first thing a person should do to avoid "unexpected" losses or "big losses" is to know what your gambling capital is (Bankroll).

Quote from: famososMuertos
Bankroll or Gambling Capital: You know, it is said, it is repeated over and over, but it is worth it again: "Never use as gambling capital money that you must use for bill payments"

What everyone in the reality of the betting world should know before doing anyBet is how much is their capital, because in the reality of things, for example, $ 20 to play poker and lose $ 10 is a tragedy, because you are losing the 50%, but good banking management keeps you away from headaches, although when the variance or as some like to call it "luck," is not on our side it can hit you hard. But even for those moments, it is only worth establishing a bankroll control strategy.

In reality, bankroll management is the solution before any activity or suggestion, while the good habit of bankroll is insurmountable.

From his example, in the gambling world $ 3,000 may mean absolutely nothing, but as I mentioned earlier it can be incredibly "a lot" for some gamblers o peoples.

Let's see some numbers: in practice how to overcome losses
Some real situations that I have had the opportunity to know, for example in NLH 1000 a player can have losses in a month of $ 42,000 and it is very possible that perhaps at a (BB/SB) 10/5 cash table in just one hand he will lose those $ 3,000. At these levels what happens is that bankroll management is very strict, in fact the key to being a winner is being a player with a deep bankroll, what does a deep bench mean? play with at least 10,000x-5000x-1000x.

But as you can see a 10,000x bankroll can be seen as very calm, but some make the mistake of taking X as the value of the bet in this case $ 10, which leads to a serious error, a bankroll of $ 100,000 but in reality it is the money with which you enter that table, which on average is 100 blinds (BB), that is, $ 1000, therefore the bankroll you should have to sleep peacefully is $ 1,000,000. Obviously these factors can be adjusted but the lower limit in my case would be 200x.

The above applies to any type of bet no matter amount ($1x-10x-1000x) or what type of game, I have put poker, but this applies to any type of bet in a casino.

Please understand me the losses are not there to be overcome with therapies, but with mathematics and very simple rules.

The OP's advice is very good but it does not only apply to losers, it is a way for any type of player to follow, we all need to follow those recommendations at some point.

Finally:
If you only play for fun, why play for real money! bet with play money.

Depending on how much money you have, $3000 can be a big or small amount to someone. Its hard to say whether a person regrets on losing $3000 or not
However, I do agree with all of your opinions. Gambling is not just about strategy, its also about money management, emotion control, and luck. Therefore, if you lose a certain amount of money which hurts your feelings, try to stop before you even lose a bigger amount of money. And trading, as you say, is the same as gambling at some points. If you can't control things, you will lose your money.

When you gamble only with the money, you are able to afford if lost, then what is the need to overcome? I mean the basic thumb rule of gambling is "gamble only what you can afford on the event of losses occurred". If you are not following that rule then no one could help you out to overcome your depression after losing big money. Being precautioned will save lots of later hassles. If we rush into gambling without remembering/following basic ethnics, then one day or other may not find ourselves eligible for gambling.

The chances for making losses in gambling is 99.99% so getting into gambling without preparing ourselves to face the losses will definitely lead to big depression. When you are ready to face losses (because it will be below your affordable limit) then there will be no need of overcoming it nor no room for depression as well.

Gamble with plans. Accept losses. Move on and take a break. Come back on another beautiful day when your bankroll is again within your affordable limit. Gambling with discipline will definitely help us to keep gambling for life long.

Rule Number 1: After a huge loss, take a break. There is always a temptation to try to recover the lost funds and the decisions one might make may be irrational because they are focused to recovering the money.

Gambling for fun rather than as a source of income also avoids any pressure or stress that may come up as a result of a huge loss. When one is gambling for fun. They are in most cases doing it with money they can afford to lose.

100% agree. Right now, I do gamble for fun (my bet size is really small) and every year I make a small profit.
But there have been times where I have lost quite a big amount of money and than I always wanted to win it back, even by betting on sports/competitions that I normally wouldn't bet on (like basketball from Kazachstan  Tongue)

I guess you just need to take a break after losing a big amount of money here in gambling as we know we cannot always win in the game so losing is part of the game.

A lot of gamblers are quitting after a big loss which is I think normal if we don't want to lose money anymore. But it just how gambling works sometimes your luck and win the game and sometimes lose.

Majority of gamblers are one point of time in their gambling experienced have lost a lot of money,it could be in their newbie days or on the days that they cannot stop or keep the urged to continue gambling, but a responsible gamblers knows what are the right thing to do, to continue living life while gambling, you cannot prevent losing money from gambling but learning how or when to stop is the way to prevent those losses.

I think when a person loses a big amount in gambling they often depressed and they want to get back what they've lost as soon as they got the money to spend on gambling again. this is how the majority of gamblers do. some of them just simply go away and never to return again because they have their fill of losing with gambling. The problem here is, If people don't stop playing after some huge loss, I think he will having a hard time letting go of the addiction in the future because he always thinks there will be a day when he wins big but there really wasn't until he loses it all.

Another thing is that they have another strategy that they think will work out.  So they are eager to come back again as soon as they got money to try their new strategy.  Being excited, the urge to get back what is lost often ended up in this kind of situation.  Then when things do not go as planned, they become irritated thus lost their composure and rationality leading them to more losses.  So a gambler needs to be calm at all times.

Exactly that is one of the most common mistakes that gamblers make. They rush into another game immediately after the loss thinking they will recover the funds because next will be their winning plan.
But that often leads to even bigger losses and could be also sign of addiction. Yes, gambler needs to cool the head and think twice. The best would be to pause gambling for a while and try to recover some mony from other sources.
Recovering loss is never easy and fast and reckless gambling isn't the way to cover losses.

I agree with most of the statements by the OP because most of the people today are having a struggle about gambling because they cannot handle their own emotions and decisions in life while they are playing. Gambling gives a really hard time. If you are winning your games you do not need to have a lot of problems because you are already earning and you become too confident but sometimes getting confident may bring you toward to make a mistake and getting greed. In the other hand when you are experiencing loses it gives a lot of depression and the emotional problem also we can include the mental statement this time you want to make your money back and of course all you need is to make a higher wage that is riskier towards to your loss in case you lose on your wage now you realize you don't have any coin or money at the end of the day there is a possibility you blame all the things you see including your self that is why you lose those huge amounts of money instead using this in a good way.

Even you lose or win a lot of money gambling gives you a lot of desires and excitement at the end of the decision you will still play gambling whether you lose or win.

First we need to clear some things, most of all what is a big loss? Losing 1000 dollars can be devastating for some people, while for some it's nothing! It would be fair to say that every gambler lost a big part of his bankroll (or entire bankroll) at some point, or more than once. And that happens in gambling often, it's why you can't gamble without steady income from other sides, or at least to save a big part of your winnings on separate wallet so you can fill your gambling bankroll when you have a need for that. It's how you overcome any big loss, you find a way to fill your bankroll and to try again, at least it's the best way to overcome big loss, and for sure it's better than to become desperate and to ruin your health!
