I know this is happening sooner or later, but I want you to be sooner. As there is also a lot of opportunities if you are sooner then later.

So please share this and we will get this to as many people possible.

The transition from Paypal to Bitcoin by merchants will definetly occur in the future, you just gotta be patient. You need to understand that Paypal simply works better and faster for the average user, and it's also way easier to use than having to figure out how to use a bitcoin wallet.

But as of now, this transition will not start as soon as you expect, paypal's features are user-friendly, and to the general public, that's what really matters. But once the lightning network goes full mainstream (hopefully in the next two years), and improvements are made, it'll take a while but you'll start seeing merchants adopting bitcoin as a payment option. And once people realized that with bitcoin you can be your own bank since you won't depend on a centralized system, you can expect the transition to go faster. But as of now, merchants will still opt to use paypal as it is the most popular online payment system, give it a few more years and bitcoin will be at the top.

Off course, the crypto currencies are good way of avoiding such stuff from happening if they are having proper protocol or some sort of mechanism which may be Abel to trace the transactions around here. Just imagine this is the case with you and you noticed it happening but what about those people who get victimised of such cases and they don't even realise they were scammed for this one. If blockchain is blended properly with the current infrastructure of the financial system and have the traceability to the full nodes then one can save such use cases from happening.

I believe thay going mainstream is not the urgent for cryptocurrency and blockchain

This is still a young market and can’t even take half long of stock trading so why need to rush.

There are lots of things to consider before mainstreaming takes place, for now let us help the community be popularized by positive feedbacks not negativity

I think it should go mainstream right away and its already too late for most stuff to not have a tech like blockchain.

Blockchain provides you with a trust system, a way to keep books and definitely a way to show other people the legitimacy of the transactions. From accounting to insurance, from medical to real estate there is unlimited amount of systems that needs to be put towards a blockchain and get bigger and better that way.

The more we wait on these kinds of stuff the longer it will take, eventually those sectors will realize it but at that time the time required already passed, so the quicker we get blockchain into those type of stuff, the better.

Damn that sucks. I agree that Paypal needs to take some serious steps to protect sellers. Chargebacks are a fucking pain. This is indeed a good reason for sellers to adopt Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technology in general.

Still, let's acknowledge that no method is perfect. It's true that this wouldn't have happened if the buyer had paid with Bitcoin instead, but buyers don't exactly have the best protection when using it. We can see this with everyone on this forum advocating the use of escrow services when transacting with people, and we know that even that method isn't bulletproof. Bitcoin is a good solution but it doesn't solve everything. Or it doesn't yet, at least.

However,I don't think that cryptocurrencies will be a solution, because 90% of all online buyers want a refund option. If you offer a refund option, some scammers will try to abuse it.

If refund option is an issue then just remove it. Like just advise the consumers that there's no refund option, though it's their right to refund but it should be on a case to case basis. Just remove the refund button and if there's a problem, customers can contact the seller directly.

I must say that crypto currency will be our last resort if this thing can't really resolve and I think people that are pissed off on credit card fraudulents will agreed on this, no informations will leak and safer payment method.

We are living in the world of technologies which some of them are great some of then are broken and need to be improved .

But long story short this will be a true story why we need to fix this and everyone needs to start using it. So whoever is watching Mining Hardware channel videos knows that we are running and Online shop for mining hardware.

So this started to happened from about start of august 2018 , we had business as usual trough mineshop.eu website. Orders coming in and we shipping out the products, but after few days I noticed something strange most of the orders are under similar names going to one city in Sweden and ordering weird items like Antminer D3 which currently isn’t in big demand. Ok I thought maybe someone has some new x11 coin or has some kind of project , I didn’t pay a lot of attention on this. Until I received an email from PayPal which was used to pay for the goods about unauthorized transaction on product which was not shipped yet.

Ok so I called up paypal and asked what its all about , they said don’t worry if you have tracking number that you have shipped item , you are under seller protections. Ok I said that I haven’t shipped the item out yet, what should I do then. He said the easiest would be refund payment to him, which is what we did.

After this I decided to do some more research on these orders and I found similarity on orders , that all of them are ordered by same surname just different names. Ok I though it is very suspicious and went to check DHL Tracking numbers. And what I saw was that these mining rigs was all of them refused delivery and then picked up. So I got in contact with our account manager in DHL and he said that in Sweden they have these parcel motels, when currier can leave parcel and customer can come and pickup his parcel without needing him to show his id or anything.

As expected unauthorized transactions started to come in one by one. So of course I got on to paypal again , and this time their answer was you are not seller protected on these transactions. I said WTF , sorry for my language. Someone just ordered items worth 25 000 euro with stolen credit cards and you want to tell me its my fault . You are the safe payment gateway as you are advertising and you cannot catch people with stolen creditcard details (of course I know it is not possible if its been used first time for scam) . Anyway I still haven’t got any explanation why im not seller protected.

Hope to get this escalated this as soon as possible, as they say they will investigate this for another 80 days or so.

So this is the reason why im out there making this post, I want to reach out to you guys as many as possible, so you do not experience this if you are a seller of you using creditcards be careful don’t trust anyone.

And this is the one of the biggest issues we face in these days for digital payment methods , im not talking about cash which also has a lot of fraud and fake. #But today its about digital payments That using blockchain technology we can make them much more secure ( sellers and buyers ) can be protected more. There wont be such thing as stolen creditcard data , you would actually need wallet private keys to stole people money. Which I think its very hard to do, a lot harder then picture data written on people credit cards…ha

So please please share this guys with your friends, that there is such problems in current world. If everyone of us was was using blockchain transactions between each other the world would be much better place.

I know this is happening sooner or later, but I want you to be sooner. As there is also a lot of opportunities if you are sooner then later.

This is one of the main reasons why I am using Crypto currencies these days. Gone are the days when you have to type in your Credit card details into a dodgy site that promises not to store your Credit card details, just to turn around and to steal your information and to use that to rack up a shit load of credit on your account.

I have been using Bitcoin on 3 local online markets for 2 years now, without having to risk any losses due to stolen information and that is one of the reasons why we should all be using Bitcoin for ecommerce.  Grin

This is the exact same reason, for which I'm afraid to use PayPal in my online business. Some scammer might order a bunch of expensive products and file a dispute for unauthorised transaction or item not received.
Paypal exists and makes money only because of the buyers. That's why Paypal is very buyer-friendly,but not seller-friendly at all. However,I don't think that cryptocurrencies will be a solution, because 90% of all online buyers want a refund option. If you offer a refund option, some scammers will try to abuse it.

Creditcards are currently using technology which is more than 5 decades old. It was not built keeping the internet in mind. Chargebacks and disputes are ways to protect buyers, but they can wreak havoc when you are a seller and you are a victim of fraud. Blockchain based payments can definitely help, but think of a buyer who has been defrauded - he will have almost no recourse.

HIRE ME FOR SMALL TASK
I also am advocating to make cryptocurrency as an alternative payment method as it is much more secure to the buyers and transparent to the sellers. And if this happens major growth is sure to come in the cryptoindustry. But until that sellers or establishments will still think over about making it a payment method as it is volatile which most of them does not like.

The best way to make sure the transaction is secure is to have a peer to peer transaction. Also the reason why more sellers online with a big company does not accept bitcoin as payment because of hacking even thou it is volatile it doesn't matter because they get the exact amount of the product when it is purchased online.

The volatility is not that big of a deal for the merchants as there are several payment processors that would let them convert their crypto to fiat.

The thing is we can't stop these scammers they also exist here in the crypto world. Bringing crypto to mainstream is not that easy we already saw what happened last year until the 1st quarter of 2018 a lot of bad news came up. Time and preparation is needed for cryptocurrencies to improve because if you rush everyone to use cryptocurrencies eventually these coins will experience some kind of problems until it becomes unusable.

I would rather suggest maybe some kind of decentralized review system , which cannot be manipulated.  That when you have built review trust as merchant, buyers wouldnt be scared to place an order.

It would take years for such system to be widely adopted. Who would maintain it? The biggest auction sites such as Amazon and eBay? How would we determine if the person who left a review had actually bought an item from that merchant? There are many difficulties and that's why it hasn't been developed yet.

Switching over completely to wire transfer is the only solution if you don't want to play around with PayPal again. However, this might discourage people from buying your products.

Cryptocurrencies are great for payments if we assume that both merchants and customers are fair. However, we all know that there are going to be disputes so a third party might be needed anyway. I would not trust PayPal anymore. They have been getting worse and worse over the past few years and their fees went up quite a lot recently.

Most people are still going to expose their private keys by keeping them on a computer which has a constant access to the Internet. Credits cards are dumb, you need only a few numbers to pay with them and they are still popular because of how people like convenience.
Yes eliminating Third party like paypal save a lot of money to consumers and merchants , i think it depends on country but here in Ireland we pay 3.4% paypal fee, which is crazy high.
But also think we cannot get rid of 3rd party , as a lot of consumers will want some kind of 3rd party escrow service to guarantee they would get the goods.
