If Bitmain confirmed that we could use one existing S1 controller for 8 blades. Why don't they share the info to do it ?

tried hooking them together.... and no luck. it   couldn't get it to set a clock with or without clock settings.

There is another way.
You can consider each board as a loop.
Controler>RXD>chips>TXD>controler
So there should be a way to link 2 loops together this way:

Controler>RXD>chips on board 1>TXD>RXD>chips on board 2>TXD>controler

Not sure it would work, but it could another thing to try beside running them parallelled.

it should work, thats how all the chips are linked on one board. i could dig my boards back out and try it for a few mins because i dont have heat sinks on them.

edit:
if i could find some cheap or free boards i wont have an issue trying more stuff.

try those

Even the existing S1 controller can handle 4 blades (up to 8 blades according to bitmain).
The missing part of the jigsaw is the firmware for their controller (which is closed source) and the ability to handle more than 8 blades PLUS how to connect the extra blades. I was tempted to mod a dual plug for the flat cable .....

FYI:
The four blade in one controller is already released by bitmain named C1 as pre-order.
The control board is a striped down BeagleBone (http://beagleboard.org/)
https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020141016120002527iTkNypAG06C9
But it's still not opensource.

And watercooling on this hardware is useless for most of the users.
Either you have dozens of them and you don't really mind the noise, or you have 1 or 2, and you can live with the low noise they are making.
It's even slightly more expensive than 2 S3+.
I'm curious to see the sales percentage of each product they are selling, but the C1 won't be their best sale.

What miners are looking for:
1- Best profitability, $/GH/s/J
2- Easy setup and operation

Other parameters are more or less ignored

Corrected boards are in France since Friday.
Hopefully, I'll have them in hand by the end of next week (regular post and customs can take a while) and they will work as expected.

knock on wood :-p

hmm funny thing:

since i have 1 S3 board on rma,

ive put in an s1 board instead, and its hashing at aprox 40 GHs at 256.5 MHz

not terribly surprising, as the controller is basically the same i beleive, and you would expect about 100Gh from it if it ran at 400MHz.

40GH at 256.5 seems low based on that though, *should* be closer to 60Gh - is it undervolted?

at 225 its supposed to be running at 60 GH so i would assume 75 - 70 GHs, but it is in line with what j4bberwock got when he connected a board to an cp2102

Hey guys,

so do we have a 4 board or just 2 board controller now? And is it USB out ?? If so let me know so I can warp my head around this as well because I like to have 4-8 boards in one unit with one Controller at the end, I do have the Power Supply issue already solved with my Controller board which will be mass produced this month and the first 100 Controller will be than soldered.

we are still at the "test version" fase, waiting for the test version so that we can get cgminer up and running with it, and verify the boards themselves work, after that i think j4bber will create the bigger boards

OK perfect.

Let me know if I can pitch in here too. I got my 150 PCB boards from China too. But payed less than $1 per PCB board. So if possible let me know because I do have 4 boards right now laying around and I do also work with PicIT right now to figure out how they programmed the BItmaintech V1.2 board so we can expand it to up to 8 boards which do fit perfectly into a 4-5U Server rack. Once you do the chip mod I done to my boards you run at 1.55W per GH's which also keeps the Hardware much cooler. So I try to build an Server Version which can be put into any DataCenter into a regular 19" RACK of which I do have a few standing around here. I already build an new Board connector which I will start selling on lumanet.info quiet soon.

Lumanet Solar Energy LLC

my plan is to downmod it to aprox 1 - 1.19 watt and put in 20 hashing boards in a u4 enclosure

If you want to get down that far you won't archive it. I do have now 3 of 4 antminer soldered this way down to just have 0.85V but they still use around 200~220 Watt per miner. And I did it the way by really replacing the resistor. Thread about it is see at :

mine do run now 24/7 since weeks.

i think its a question of finding the right psu.

ask for 40 sample connectors, and 320 crimp pins, they will probably send them.

already ordered the stuff i need inclusive 7.5 meters of flatcabling :-p
