I think some altcoins have a really bright future ahead of them like ETHEREUM,ETHEREUM CLASSIC, MONERO & LITECOIN. All these altcoins are very progressive and you can expect great growth from them.

About 90% have no future for sure.

A few alts could go a long way tough, like ETH, Waves, Lisk, maybe even ZCash or Monero.
It depends on their developers to keep their coin up to date and keep improve the platform. Although the price of the coin is high, if the developer leaves it the coin will be forgotten as new coins come in and looks promising.
You have a point sir, hoping that developers keep improving their coins. Because I believe that some altcoins had a potential to survive their future in the market. But one thing bothering me and it is the BCC, because if BCC launch in the market the capacity of the bitcoin were lessen also all altcoins were gonna be affected.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.
Nothing is guaranteed but I can see ETH and LTC sticking around for a long time with Bitcoin.
When it comes to altcoins 90% of them will be gone in 5 years time but some will flourish very well and perhaps even better then the mainstream coins.

Just thought that when a $US (or money in general) emerged, many people didn't find it necessary and probably did not even realize why they need it. The situation with people's perception of altcoins might look similar, but that does not mean all altcoins will fail, neither that all or some altcoins will stay alive forever. We'll see.

Too many of altcoin makes the competition very tight, personally I'm not sure altcoin can last for a long time, I subscribe to newsletters from several trading sites and they tell me will remove the trading service for passive coins.

Does their project can boom as crypto getting popular.
if people could predict which project will do boom - everyone invested only in boom-capable projects

but we just can't =(
Choose altcoin like Ethereum, Litecoin, and Waves it is a popular coin today and has a very good platform.

Why do not you follow the advice of the people here?
It turns out litecoin is also worth choosing. I just found out litecoin have a future.

Where do you know information about Litecoin?

Yes, there are many predictions and many people are showing interest on Litecoin. After the hard fork, Litecoin price is increasing very rapidly and many people are holding the coin for future returns on Litecoin.

Your doubt has come true now.High transaction fee and slower confirmations have been almost solved since segwit is to be activated. So,no one would switch to altcoins leaving bitcoins for transaction issue here after. So,altcoins have to deliver features which are not found in bitcoin to get popular.

Yeah like few altcoins will surely survive and some will die soon so better have an eye in investing promising coins. Know what coins should be hold for long-term and short-term for us not to miss whats really be worth it.

Zcash gonna have NSA backdoors (if it doesn't already).. among other major potential flaws in the works..

are there any Lisk dapps yet?  you'd think that by using JavaScript for dapps they'd already have some stuff working..

theres a lot of other interesting altcoin projects: decentralized exchanges, debit cards, prediction markets, decentralized storage and computation, decentralized gaming, lots of cool stuff that i expect to go a long way.

What makes you think ZCash will have a NSA backdoor?

I think the altcoin from the big projects, especially the ICO has no real value and can not apply in life.

Not arguing at all, just willing to understand the point - if a project is big and successful, why its coins should have no real value? Just logically, a project grows, a coin gets value. Maybe the point is that the majority of projects are not too successful, but that's another matter, just a regular business situation.

Individual altcoins may and will die, over 90% of them will never amount to anything but a good speculation tool for trading. But I fully believe the best ones will emerge in time and find actual real life use cases. And they all serve an important purpose in testing new ideas and developing the tech, while making all of us more btc on the side
For me, only BTC, ETH, LTC have real value in life because these are the altcoin to bring about global revolution. I think the altcoin from the big projects, especially the ICO has no real value and can not apply in life.

I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.

I think that too, if bitcoins can do it so do altcoins. But I'm not talking about all altcoins, maybe some of them, those who have high potential and those who have a lots of holders. They won't let their coin to drop and do bankruptcy because they have a lots of holders, and they will complain if that drop in just a blink of an eye. Me myself I hold some altcoins in my wallet lile ethereum and waves, and I would like to sell it yet because I trust them that their value will also rise just like the trust I'm giving into bitcoins.

Few altcoins can make it, more will only be just for ashort span of time, it will only depend on the alt used ,it functionality and on what ICO they came from some alts were really useful but they are too many to have all.

This depends on some conditions

If the project is good,
İf the dev is working
İf there is a future expectation for short term and long term
İf the people or other new and old project use the coin
If it completes a defect belongs to cryptocurrencies ecosystem

Surely these altcoins will survive in the future.

Well, just the same situation as with startups: only a small portion really takes off. But that does not make the whole segment useless or having some really poor perspectives in either case. I agree that altcoins have and will have some role here.
