You can Hold only if you foresee that the price will increase at-least 2 months or beyond.

If you think that price will not increase then it is totally your decision that you hold or not.

But it is cryptocurrency market only burly Traders can survive.

If you don't have a well developed trading system, honestly, you should buy and hold -- for years if necessary. Amateurs who attempt to be active traders are great for the pros, because it makes easy profits for them. The sooner a noob gets burned the better, because then he/she understands that trading requires planning and precision. With the current rally, no doubt, many new traders have jumped-in -- usually too late -- and they will only learn hard and fast how quickly markets can turn.

A major correction is happening in cryptocurrency world and there is lot of uncertainty in the market because of one of the most important cryptocurrency Bitcoin is likely to be forked. Thus, prices are decreasing all over. Patience is better at this phase. I advise you to hold. But it largely depends upon what coins you invested in. You should make it clear. We could help you better. Some major Altcoins will increase in recent month as Bitcoin might depreciate and people might shift to altcoins. Trade wisely.

The reason to hold if prices are down is simple. The crypto market is expanding, so it´s normal for the prices to come back. So if you sell when the prices are down, someone will buy them and sell them latter when prices are up. some people have to loose for others to win... you have to choose who you want to be. The only problem with this "simple" strategy is that some coins eventually fadeaway and die. So i hope you chose good projects to put your money into. If so, just wait for the market to recover.

From I know that price cryptocurrency will not have adverse impact in some news about bitcoin. Because cryptocurrency have a level and also the advantages it was not located in the bitcoin, they just updating parent at the price of bitcoin. For now this bitcoin is widely used by most people, if indeed it happens same will surely cryptocurrency and don't have a lot of changes if it is located in the segwit period.

Proper moneymanagement will help you survive volatility in the currency market. You do not care if you have additional income, other than income from speculation. It's not forex. It's like a stock market where stocks will not fall to zero. Only if the issuer does not go scam... Smiley

You probably need to hold it down,  don't let your emotions drive you. Even if the price goes down, hold it even more. Just wait for the time that the price will goes up. It will go up surely because just like any other currencies they go up or down. You just need to wait and you should invet in a greater coins. Coins that have a potential like bitcoins.

I have recently took investing on poloniex serious. Ever since I've invested the alt coins have been down. Do the amount of coins I posses go up if I stay. Also, do I have to wait for the coins to go back to their original price that I bought fo in order to make a profit? What are the reasons to holding if prices are down? Thank-you.

The reason if the price gets comeback and you will be able to exit from your portfolio wihout any loses. That is the main reason why a lot of the people still hold their portfolio and not try to sell on the dip.
You will be understand about that

If this invested money in not required urgently for you then no meaning in selling at a loss instead if you got extra money then try to buy at a lower price now to average it out your purchase price. I don't know which altcoins your holding, but if you have purchased good altcoins then no need to worry much because this is not an end, so you will get a chance to sell at higher price.

What are the reasons to holding if prices are down? Thank-you.

I believe 1 of 2 things is happening, or a combination of both regardng the downward trend in prices.

1. Most alt traders on POLO are there to increase their BTC through trading. I believe with the BTC August segwit deadline approaching, that many alt traders are cashing in their alts for BTC in order to move their bitcoin in cold storage (offline) prior to this deadline. My advice here tends to lean towards holding to see what happens, as once all the hype/fud is over, once again massive amounts of fiat will be invested in alts greatly increasing the prices.

2. Crypto is experiencing a huge downward correction. Depending on when you invested, if it was recently then you came to invest when crypto was at a high which is now correcting downward. Some here are calling this a bubble bursting, but im not so sure. If this is the case then "hold/sell" is more tricky, however if you invested in crypto that has good fundamentals you in most cases should be able to hold for several months to see a break-even point or even profits.

Note that you will be more profitable if you SPEND your bitcoin rather than sell. Why sell when you actually have better money that works worldwide? Fiat dollars are crappy coupons in comparison.

The rules is very simple . Buy low , sell high . Also when you bought a coin for a price , and that coin is going down , you should wait until is going back at the original price and sell that coin Cheesy

The first mistake you have done is, investing in altcoins because there will be no guarantee that they will bounce back or not. If you have inveted with bitcoins then I will recommend to wait.  But altcoins are highly unstable to recover.
In my opinion you have gambled for your capital. Now you must depend on your luck to recover losses. The second mistake you might have entered without stoploss levels. If you have anything like that then better come out at those levels.

I agree with you, we all started to invest in altcoins in order to obtain the maximum profit. Most of us did not like bitcoin's profit and found it low. That resulted in huge losses in altcoin trading. So, for holders it's still okay. But for the people needing urgent cash, this will be nightmare.

It depends on your analysis. If you say seriously invested you should know the story, the updates and the charts of those coins. I think segwit and possible bitcoin split are the main issues right now. Then next month is the ghost month. On my own understanding when you say invest you should just buy and hodl those coins you trusted most. But if you want to trade then maybe you can buy the dip and sell high.

Nobody can tell you really, because no one know for sure what coins you are holding and how they will perform. There is a correction goig on as a lot of coins where pumped hard on the back of the bitcoin and eth price rise. Now the market is adjusting back to normal levels.

Some of the coins you hold will maintain their current levels, some may rise again and other will fall further. It is up to you to learn about the potential of each coin and make the right decisions for yourself. waiting too long for the price to go back up could be detrimental, especially for the new coins with little potential.

The moment you took investing on Poloniex seriously means you are aware of some investment risks in altcoin trading hence you know some basics to face the price if it's experiencing a red marks. And prior to that, you already learned some of ways to make an own trading analyzation.

What are your trading analysis with the current situation of your hold coins? In history, does it already experienced big pump with associated big pump on regular basis? How's the overall price stats? More increase than decrease or vice versa? You are the one who can make your trades succesful. Once you snap out of your patience, you will lose but in return you will minimize the loss. So decide, eye for profit on the long term or close your position at the current price.

Think about it. If you don't hold, If I don't hold, If he doesn't hold... How can we ever go to the moon? Somebody has to hold. Are we going down? Maybe. Personally I can afford to go down till it reaches sub 1000$. Why? Because I purchased most of my coins from that price!!

Actually I can even tolerate to sub 200$'s. And I still won't dump. See? People like me got high pain tolerance. Because only %7 (not that small Dollar wise)  of my wealth is in bitcoin. If It were %100, I would be eating my room's walls with every passing minute.  Grin
