You mentioned Hero and legendary so now that I am close to becoming a Hero I think I have the right to comment on this thread and to try answer your questions, as for if Hero legendary were once a newbie?

The answer is yes, at the point of registering here on this forum, your position will be newbies, and after you become active with discussions, and making posts to accumulate activities, you then move to Junior member and so on.

But that was before the introduction of merits as requirements for ranking ups, so now you need your activities and merits to rank up to Hero legendary.
Everyone started from being a newbie, and with hardwork and patience in participating in the discussion, got rank up until one reached hero or legendary in position. That proves that even if you are a newbie, you hold a big chance here in the forum and see your growth and development work in progress if you never stop but keep continue reading and acquiring knowledge, and join discussion through giving out your own opinions or ideas that are relevant in every topic or thread presented in the forum.

I haven't stayed long here but from my experience so far forum members here are good at answering questions they have helped me answer some Bitcoin question that I didn't understand.
I'm still trying my best to learn more technical things on the forum hopefully someday I'll be also answering questions for newbies on the forum.
Thanks for the positive affirmation because we have heard so much complaints from newbies lately about how other members make them feel threatened. The truth is that it gets tiring seeing newbies repeating the same topic and questions countless times instead of just checking the beginners & help board to see what others have posted before creating their topic. When such newbies are corrected, many of them feel offended. It is nice to see a newbie who confirm that forum members are nice, at least majority of the members because it cannot be all members else here becomes boring. I have received so much help from this forum of which I'm forever grateful to many great guys who have given me guidance and direction through their experience and knowledge.

I have seen that some members in the forum are in hero and legendary level and my question is;

those members in hero and legendary level were they newbies before?
Actually everyone you see here was once a newbie. One thing you should understand in life is that nothing becomes something without a beginning. So the answer is that everyone here was once a newbie like you.

How are they so knowledgeable about Bitcoin and everything that revolves around it?
Everyone here is not well knowledgeable about bitcoin as you think, but i guess you have come across more knowledgeable people. Everyone here has the aspect they are good at, but bitcoin is the main discussion here.

With my little knowledge about Bitcoin, do I stand a chance here? Because everyone seems to know so much about Bitcoin and I'm still a learner.
Don't underestimate yourself. Life doesn't work that way , don't be surprised you may Start today and be well knowledgeable about bitcoin than most old BTT forum members here.

those members in hero and legendary level were they newbies before? How are they so knowledgeable about Bitcoin and everything that revolves around it?

AFAIK on the old era newbie before there's no merit system and only post count and activity count and to those members who reach a designated amount of activity will recieved an airdrop merit so they actually came from the newbie ranks before but without the merit system. Now to those newly created account and have a merit requirements they start from totally newbie because of the contributions and knowledgeable they share here in community some of them ranks up and meet the merit requirements and waiting for their activity count. For sure you get overwhelmed if you might reach the rank of a Legendary or even first milestone the full member but as long as you keep learning with your journey you will reach these ranks too.

Nothing is premature, everyone who registers here always sets foot on the bottom step (Newbie), after that they start to absorb all the information spread on the forum to increase their insight and increase their account rank. The knowledge they have is inseparable from effort and process, they always try to learn everything related to Bitcoin and take the time to always be consistently active in the forum.
As long as you are willing to learn and invest some of your time to be active in the forum, everyone has the opportunity to grow here. You can also ask seniors about something you haven't mastered yet, seniors will help you answer all your questions and direct you to some of the topics you need.

Stay motivated and don't give up before you achieve your goals because that will make everything you've done so far in vain.

It’s obvious the forum works with ranks; keep active, learn, and relearn, and you will rank up like them. One day, everyone here started just like you. It’s a gradual process, so this question is kind of funny. You should know that it is about rank, and they are like this some years ago too. If you want to be like them, learn and relearn.

You will be the one to decide if you can continue staying in the forum or not. You are the person who knows whether the forum is hard or simple. If you see that you can learn the concept of bitcoin and grow up bigger, then definitely you will know, and if you cannot  do it, it is still simple, so you are the one who can make this decision for yourself.

It depends on each member who is now at the legendary level in understanding each field of knowledge. If members have registered since the implementation of the merit system, there may not be many members who are already in the legendary rank except those who have above average knowledge.
One way to reach the hero rank to legendary is to master qualified knowledge that can be used as knowledge for those who read.
We can always fight for ourselves to survive in the system, although it will be difficult. Knowledge is everything in bitcoin talk. With the appropriate tools, everything comes with ease efforts and merits doesn't seem to be challenging. We have members that's vast in numbers and everyone working in top momentum to accomplish their goals, which is not easy to meets. Standing in good position in the forum does seems to be running smoothly.

I find this question rather hilarious  Grin
Everyone in this forum were once newbies like you. The high ranked members you see here didn't earn that rank by being lazy In the forum,  it took them years of learning, unlearning and relearning to be able to give you and I the sound information you see here. They have earned merits to be able to rank up to that level. You too can get there if you become worthy of being merited,  only quality and useful posts from you can guarantee you merits. You do not need to be in a haste, you are still new here and you have all the time now to learn from this forum.

You stand a chance here if you give yourself the chance to learn. Aside from what you learn here, you can still do your personal researches to know more about topics you feel were not really discussed well. You are also free to join conversations and ask questions relevant to the topic being discussed with the sole aim to learn and not to dispute facts you know very little or nothing about.

Welcome once again to the forum. Keep to the forum rules and you will be fine.

do I stand a chance here?
Why not? People who you see here having high ranks and a lot of knowledge were newbies once like you, they stayed, gained knowledge, explored the industry, and eventually got enough knowledge to be able to reach those ranks and have that much knowledge. Nothing is impossible, as they say.

The aim should be to gain as much knowledge as possible. Don't get lost in chasing merits or trying to rank up quickly, your primary focus should be to be as knowledgeable as possible because when you are knowledgeable, you don't need to do anything, you will see yourself ranking up automatically.

So remember that you need to focus only on gaining knowledge, don't get distracted and you will make it as well.

greetings to you guys, I registered few days ago and I have took my time to go through boards that the names sounds familiar and easy to pronounce like economics, meta, Bitcoin discussion and beginners and help. Beginners and help especially meta has all the information I need as a newbie (I'm not lazy and I love exploring too) so I'm not here to stress anyone with numerous questions but as a newbie I still need words of encouragement. I have seen that some members in the forum are in hero and legendary level and my question is;

YOU MADE SOME TANGIBLE POINTS

1.....One of which in quote "with my little knowledge of bitcoin, do I stand a chance?"
This means that you stand a better chance compared to a lot or some who has no knowledge of BTC (except knowing btc as the highest crypto /currency) before starting off in this forum. To say, they actually started learning of BTC and having the quest to learn more about BTC in this forum.

2.....another point to paraphrase "if members with hero and legendary level (the super stars of these house) started as newbies?" definitely, everyone here started one day even there has been changes in features. To note btc as well started one day

3......i want to be knowledgeable about btc.
U are welcome. Well you are here now  so the quest powered and being open to learning is an important tool.

Your little knowledge about BTC and the zeal to learn I believe will take someone  far . It is also a green light.

There are so many posts that handles these matter witth
Details and excellence.

I can tell that you are overwhelmed by the forum after seeing the workload involved to grow in the forum. I guess you wish there is a shortcut. My dear, if you fix your mind on growing in ranks rather than enjoying the forum discussion and information, you will end up becoming frustrated. Check the various boards to see areas that interest you and channel your energy there and grow. And to make your growth faster, use youtube and some good posts in the technical board to learn more about bitcoin to widen your knowledge and understanding because your growth here depend largely on how much you about bitcoin and the blockchain technology.

It is not as if everyone of us here are too good when it comes about bitcoin, as we discuss about bitcoin we are learning from each other. Nobody knows it all, member of this forum learn everyday in this forum. You as well can also learn from the forum discussions and when you make a research to bring up a discussion here in the forum other members can also learn from you too. The people you think are very knowledgeable about Bitcoin  were once like you but with mindset and practice to learn they were able to get good knowledge about Bitcoin.
Just take learning as your first priority and be consistent with it and you will definitely get good knowledge about Bitcoin which you really want to see yourself to be. The essence of this forum is to make Bitcoin easy for newbies to understand, so I think you stand a chance to be here because it is all about learning.
Anyone that has good motivation and is very enthusiastic to learn new things particularly bitcoin and its crypto space will always stand a chance here. The forum is widely open for everyone, you just have to do your own diligence to learn through extensive research and studies most particularly for newbies in the forum.

IMHO, you are only seeing the rest of the members are knowledgeable except you it’s because you are still in the process of acquiring knowledge and skills which will make this learning effective and efficient. Later on, you will also be like those knowledgeable members in the forum. Patience and being goal oriented are the keys, otherwise you will never be good enough in the forum if you are weak and easily get bored, it’s because you lack the high motivation, courage and confidence while engaging yourself in the forum.

If you are not lazy and love exploring, you should be good. Only those who are extremely lazy and never like reading or exploring things themselves and need others to spoonfeed them everything won't stand a chance because that can't happen forever. If you are asking questions that have been answered right on the first page of the section you are making your thread, you are lazy, and we witness a lot of such newbies here.  Smiley

Keep learning, and you will see the growth over time. Don't stress yourself out, and take one step at a time, and you will make it, eventually.

Good luck.

It's easy for a newbie to be intimidated by hero and legendary ranks in the forum and you'll be wondering if you'll be able to reach that level. But the realization that they were newbies once will make you to know that the ranks are achievable and you can get the merit to achieve it. Your activeness in the forum, willingness to learn and ask questions in areas where you need help, making research and expressing yourself with quality posts will go a long way to determine whether you stand a chance. Some newbies joined the forum with crypto knowledge while some like me joined without any knowledge and today I've gained a lot so far. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and this forum is a good foundation to gain cryptocurrency knowledge in general.

You definitely have the chance to rank up similarly to others but it all depends on how you decide your journey to be.
As you have already mentioned that you love to explore, I would suggest you to keep exploring and in the process you will keep learning.
There are plenty of resources on this forum for you to grasp knowledge and with that you will have enough knowledge to help others with their issues.
There are many users on this forum who have started from scratch as a Newbie and are in Legendary rank today.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome, honestly I wasn't expecting that I will get this kind response from forum members because I know I was told by the person that introduced me to Bitcointalk that everyone is very busy and strict and wouldn't have time to give me the right informations and motivations I needed as a newbie. I won't take this for granted.

A little advice: if you are not native English speaker, you can find a good place to start your first conversations in your respective local board. I don't know if that's your case, but if it is It will be less difficult for you to express yourself in your native language, and, in addition, I think that members there have more patience with newbies generally speaking.
Yes I'm not a native English speaker but I'm sure I can express myself with the little I can speak/write and everyone will understand me perfectly. I honestly don't know what you meant by it will be less difficult for me to express myself in my native language. We learn everyday and I'm open to new things, English inclusive.

I mean that we have local boards here where you can talk in your mother tongue with other people from the same country and/or similar culture as yours, which also helps. For example, if you're Italian, there is an Italian local board where Italians can talk with other nationals in their beautiful mediterranean language.

It is not only easier for beginners to communicate in their native language, but these local boards are more newbie-friendly IMO. So, if you are not native English speaker, I would suggest you participate in your local board and know active users there as a good way to start your journey in the forum.

You can find them in the Home page of the forum, at the bottom.

In addition, not the most important, but still important: I think merits are more easily earned there Wink

Good luck, Anayochukwu.

The forum is an open space for everyone who wants to explore their individual knowledge and experience, we all here started from scratch, as a toddler till we learnt how to crawl, then walk before who could run to whichever rank we find ourselves now so every journey of life starts with a single step. No one jumps to B without starting from A, every beginning has a starting point but regardless of the challenges you may experience along the way you should remain focused and determined, one day you will look back from when you started and what you have been able to achieve with consistency and hardwork. The sky is open for everyone so the only thing you get to do is play by the rules and make sure you don't break any.

You don't need to have all the knowledge about Bitcoin before you can navigate through the forum, you can start with the little you know and spend more time learning from people who are very knowledgeable about Bitcoin, you can even start making posts in discussions that are not Bitcoin related in the forum then from time to time you take a move around those boards that discusses mainly Bitcoin then as time goes you will be able to familiarize yourself with Bitcoin discussions and you will be exposed on wider knowledge about Bitcoin.

Of course, everyone in the forum stands a chance of doing better and getting the necessary informations they came here for, whether concerning Bitcoin or not, you've done yourself more good by going through the boards that you feel would be much easier for you to navigate and so far you abide by the rules of the forum, with time you'll grow to a certain level.

When I registere, it seemed confusing and a little stressful based on my work schedule, but with time I mastered the art of reading important messages passed by high ranking members and also gave my opinion concerning certain threads and it helped me so far. Every member in this forum was once a newbie, and from my understanding some were already very knowledgeable about Bitcoin before they came here, why some took their time to study more about Bitcoin here and improved in their knowledge. One thing about the forum is that learning is constant and if those high ranking members can succeed by growing from newbie to that level, then anyone can too, so far you can read, write and understand what you've learnt.

I understand how you feel dear OP, and its actually normal as i was once like you when i made my first and i was wondering if i will ever be able to get to the point where i will be ranked at these levels and today I'm here now but then I'm  not at the legendary or hero member yet but i believe i will get to this points some day since i have been able to get the full member rank where i am now.

Just make sure to keep making good and relevant post, one very good thing about this forum is that you have got more than enough to learn from which you use as a reference point to getting the kind of knowledge that will be enough for you to be able to make good post enough to make you get to this the level of legend or hero member. you can also try getting knowledge out there and come here to share but make sure you are you are not plagiarizing then if its beneficial enough to most they will merit you.

Of course, if you follow the rules and regulations, you have a good possibility of becoming a high ranking member of this forum. How could you believe you didn't have a chance to learn here? Every hero and legendary you see began as a newbie like you, and with time, they studied the forums, contributing to this forum with the knowledge they had to be in the place they are today. Don't underestimate your knowledge, we're still learning, and every member of this forum will continue studying in and out of the forum.

In addition, don't be discouraged by anyone, no one is dumb, you may have more experience about Bitcoin than someone who has been on this forum for many years, don't be like other newbies who joined this forum and got discouraged because of their lack of knowledge, believing that they would never be able to reach senior members. You must believe in yourself and work harder. If you do not understand something, please ask because everyone is always willing to teach those who are interested in learning everything about Bitcoin.

I have seen that some members in the forum are in hero and legendary level and my question is;

those members in hero and legendary level were they newbies before? How are they so knowledgeable about Bitcoin and everything that revolves around it? With my little knowledge about Bitcoin, do I stand a chance here? Because everyone seems to know so much about Bitcoin and I'm still a learner. I want to be knowledgeable about Bitcoin and I'm open to every instructions and advice from you guys.

Thank you y'all.
Anayochukwu

We all started somewhere. In time, you too will come to understand how Bitcoin works and why it's so good. Just be sure to ask a lot of questions! The more, the better!

Yes, of course all members on this forum originally had a beginner rank. Then forum members who can contribute a lot to this forum, such as providing important information or knowledge to other members, will be given an award called merit by members who feel they have benefited from the information. So with this merit system, all members of this forum increase their ranking. So basically, you can also become a member with a high ranking like Heroor Legendary as long as you can contribute well to this forum. Apart from that, the members who join this forum are different when viewed from their backgrounds. There are those who have a background as blockchain developers, bitcoin miners, crypto/bitcoin traders or investors, and there are also those who are beginners who want to learn about the world of crypto. So basically this forum is an information center for everyone who wants to know something related to bitcoin or crypto. Therefore many people who have questions regarding this take it to this forum and discuss it. And regarding your question about how members on this forum can understand bitcoin or crypto well, the answer is that they discuss with each other on this forum, or read posts made by members who are great in the bitcoin/crypto field. Apart from that, as I said, there are quite a few people who join this forum who are experts in the field of development or truly experienced traders and investors. So that's why they can provide very good assumptions and information about bitcoin on this forum.

So, you got already a clear answer to your first question: we all started like "Brand New"s and grew little by little.

About your other question, more subjective, of course you have a chance, but ranking up to Hero/Legend will take a lot of effort and patience from you, as it has done for all of us. But with motivation and enthusiasm you will manage to do it and enjoy the journey.

A little advice: if you are not native English speaker, you can find a good place to start your first conversations in your respective local board. I don't know if that's your case, but if it is It will be less difficult for you to express yourself in your native language, and, in addition, I think that members there have more patience with newbies generally speaking.

If you read all these threads, you are already encouraged if you are ready to learn and want to stay here. If you are ready to learn, you will be discouraged by glancing at these threads because of overwhelming feeling.

those members in hero and legendary level were they newbies before? How are they so knowledgeable about Bitcoin and everything that revolves around it? With my little knowledge about Bitcoin, do I stand a chance here
You said you read a lot but by asking these questions, you shown us that you did not read anything, did not read any pinned thread in Beginners & Help, Meta boards.

If you still want to learn, go there

First of all you are welcome to this forum, secondly like they said learning is a continues process the more the day goes by that's how people are learning new things from either on Bitcoin or on there investment so nobody is a professional, however you should have it in mind that you are not in any competition with anybody in terms of being knowledgeable here because in everything there is always a process to undergo before getting or acquiring the kind of knowledge you desired, so you don't need to be discouraged because ones upon a time everybody here was like you but through there learning they became very experienced and knowledgeable, so there is no limits to how far you can go but what really matter is the ability to read and learn, however every board on this forum has a good information that would help you a lot, so you can go through them and read.

BTC can be invested using DCA strategy, I came to know about it from my friend. My friend advised me about bitcoin by saying that I expect it to be in great demand in the future and to be highly valued all over the world. Like you, I hope the seniors, heroes and legends here are very knowledgeable and have very sound opinions about Bitcoin, so that we newbies will give us a chance, because I am also very curious about Bitcoin and I want to be very knowledgeable about it.
Looking to invest a lot in the future gaining a lot of knowledge about BTC.

You’re here to learn, aren’t you? So do not apologize for it, learning is a continuous process. Even legendary accounts can learn from other. And yes the hero/legendary accounts you see were once newbie accounts. The forum is structured that way, the only way to increase your rank is by merits and activity. Instead of feeling intimidated by the high ranks, you can learn from them. Read their topics and learn from their experiences.

Welcome to the forum and its great you locate the right board to post your question regarding on each matter puzzled you. But don't focus on rankings since its more better for you to search for knowledge since it will help you in both aspects like ranking up and also get an idea on where you can earn from crypto.

Op, everyone here started from some where they didn't become hero and legendary members overnight rather they went through so many  processes, encountered so many challenges and took out time to read and make some researches which they are still doing at this level so they didn't get the rank without working. Your little knowledge on bitcoin gives you an advantage to understand things better here because you are not starting as a newbie to bitcoin so you will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge on bitcoin if you give yourself time to read and research about the things that are frequently discussed here.

You have a good chance to become like the people whom you think knows too much and you can beat them in knowledge if you become intentional to focus on building your knowledge, making ready a habit and research a must you can better in knowledge here because for knowledge on bitcoin I believe this is the best forum you can get a detailed information and explanation on bitcoin.

These members in Hero and Legendary ranks are here in the forum for some time now; they are members that has contributed a lot to the forum, their positive contributions lead them to their ranks because this forum ranks depends on merits and activity, and merits are reward to quality post and contributions a member gave to the forum, while activity is determine by how active a member is. For any member to have reach the rank of hero and legendary, they have been very active and have contributed to the forum in one way of the other.
They were all newbies before now, and they ranked up this high; you can equally do same as them if you are active and contribute to the forum in positive ways.

Everyone here started from a scratch, so if you are seeing higher rank members, they all have started as newbies, except for those who only buy an account which is already in hero or legendary position.

Now if asked if you still stand a chance here, of course we all have chances to improve ourselves here and eventually make a decent income. Patience and resilience are the keys. Don't rush to making profits, but take your time first in learning the forum well and also learn from the experiences of reputable members, especially those who have already achieved highly significant positions.

This forum can be seen as an educational institution where people come to learn about Bitcoin, altcoins, and other things in life. If you visit the politics section, you will learn how much this is about global politics, culture, religion, and other stuff that is not related to Bitcoin. Just like a conventional school, you need to show that you are qualified to be promoted to the next class before you are promoted. Here, you don't write any exams, but you should be able to contribute to the forum before you can climb the ranks. Your main focus should be to learn and understand Bitcoin and the forum. You need two things to keep climbing the ladder, which are merits and activities. Merits will come if you contribute positively to discussions and your activity will increase if you are a consistent poster. Welcome to the forum.

If you’re talking about forum ranks, everyone in this forum where once a newbie here and their rank were gradually increased as days pass by through their activeness in the forum, their activity factor and merits. And when you’re asking about knowledge base in the forum; most forum members in high ranks have learnt a lot about bitcoin either from this forum or off the forum, so for them to have gotten to that rank here, it means they’re knowledgeable about bitcoin and didn’t just earn the rank like that.

You could also come across some other ranks that are newbies and know very much about bitcoin, so you shouldn’t only see the members in higher ranks as the best of people that knows about bitcoin, even the lower ranks who are knowledgeable about it before now can be so good in it when interacting here. Since you’re a newbie, just keep learning, you’ll one day be in their shoes and also have something to say when newbies come into the forum and get confused just like you now.

There’s no secret to being a knowledgeable bitcoin person, you just have to be ready to learn again and again in order to perfect your knowledge about it. A lot of people have come far in seeking for knowledge about bitcoin and that’s why they’re so good in it today. It’s a journey you’ve to embark on to be like them and you also have a chance here. Many like you and also myself started off somewhere in this forum to have come far about bitcoin. So take your time and learn to understand what bitcoin is.

those members in hero and legendary level were they newbies before?
Short answer: Yes

Slightly longer answer is that there was a merit airdrop in 2018, users who joined before the merit system were giving merits commensurate to their rank at the time. Before merits you only need activity to reach any rank. There were still very knowledgeable members before the merit system and many of them have gone on to earn legenday rank (i.e 1000 merits) several times over.
Those who have not been able to earn more merits since the airdrop are probably not hanging around anymore.

Many of the knowledgeable members learnt most of what they know from this forum, bitcoinstackexchange, Reddit and other useful websites. You stand a big chance to gain knowledge if you put in the effort and understand that it takes time. Don't focus on earning merits but how to learn and apply more Bitcoin knowledge. You'll also pick up good financial advice from this forum.
Read, engage and read some more.

That's right, everyone started from your rank, and over time, they rose in rank thanks to their constructive contributions and gained the necessary experience. Whatever the member's rank is, it is not a definitive measure of his expertise and high knowledge. Everyone here tries to benefit others with what they know and also seeks to increase their knowledge and benefit from other members' discussions with their diverse experiences, ideas, and ranks.

Your little knowledge is not a problem; we all started learning and continue to learn. With your effort and constant attention to important topics to understand the basics, Glossary, various discussions, and reliable sources for books, courses, and academies to increase your knowledge in Bitcoin, your expertise and knowledge will grow over time.

You register a new forum account, you're a forum newbie. You can be a Bitcoin expert before you register an account or the opposite, doesn't matter, you're still a forum newbie. ("You" in a broader sense...)

Of course, as an "expert" with knowledge to share and helping others and being able to contribute merit worthy posts, posts that add value to the forum, those with knowledge and ability to write nicely will rank up likely faster.

I was of course once a forum newbie, too, and learned about Bitcoin around 2011 with way less knowledge about it back then. My current account is far younger, though, nothing wrong with reading silently for a long time.  Wink

My main focus in this forum was to read and share interesting things about Bitcoin, to learn and to share knowledge once learned. If you focus too much on ranks, you're gonna likely have a hard time and less fun here.

For a start to learn more about Bitcoin, hop to https://learnmeabitcoin.com and work through Beginners and later Technical sections. There is a lot to learn on that site if you want. I visit this site even after years regularly and to refresh memory and details.

Books like "Mastering Bitcoin", available on Github, are another source if you prefer that. I don't give you a link, try to find it yourself, it hones searching skills.

Also practice to search things in this forum either by Search or by using the marvelous external site https://ninjastic.space.

Take your time and enjoy reading interesting topics in this forum. There are a lot of them (sometimes a lot of garbage, too).
