I do not know why tokens registered in MEW wallet do not have a price of $ and are not yet listed on the exchange. but why can this token be traded on several exchanges?
isn't the token that can be traded only a token that already has a price of $ and already has an exchange to trade it?
Some new tokens wont show $$ price in wallet and they are listed on exchanges already,if the token is only listed on one or two exchanges there is probability it wont show dollar value in wallet because its not even on coinmarketcap yet,use google to find exchange for such token

Most of these exchanges has not entered an exchange and so cannot be traded, but the token will surely be in the wallet because it was built on Ethereum smart contract and the only way to distribute it is that. When the token enters an exchange, it will automatically start having the dollar equivalent of it being calculated by the tool Ethereum uses in converting their token value to USD.

I have so many of them in my portfolio that I have even been holding for a very long time now, and I am beginning to wonder too if those tokens will ever enter an exchange. I believe that with time, some of these token will surely enter an exchange, I dint know what is delaying them though, but I want to believe that they are just waiting for the altcoins season for them to increase in value.

Um, maybe you should go back and take a look at what crypto is.
It's a little scary thinking you are in crypto trading and don't understand the most basic and fundamental thing about what you are trading.

Crypto is a peer to peer transaction network that is open to anyone and distributed across many nodes scattered across the globe.
What this means is, you can transact freely with anyone on that network.
Because of its cryptographic coding, you can freely trade without going through lengthy trust or middlemen.

So you can freely trade anything.
You don't need an exchange and the token or coin doesn't have to have a value.
For DEXs, basically it is just there to faciilate the p2p transaction regardless of "price."

that can happen, I mean if you have coins that are not worth $, you can sell them on the etherdelta / forkdelta exchange, because there can accept any coin, including coins that have no price development at all.

It seems to me that you do not need to blame myetherwallet in a bad functionality. Anyway, your coins still need to keep somewhere, but it does not mean that any other wallet will show information that is not in the mew. The problem can exist because of the coinmarketcap that does not display those coins that are still traded on the market, but not not in the CMC, not in Etherscan. But there are other services where you can track the real state of coins on the crypto-currency market.

I don't use MEW, have use it maybe 5 times, it's cumbersome to me because I need to always use my laptop. MEW is just a wallet, and can not track and display tokens not yet trading, if a token is not yet trading, then the price is worthless because it has not tasted the market.

The reason for that is, MEW only takes into account few exchanges thus showing the price, if the price is higher or lower in another exchange not support by MEW it will not show correlate with that token. Also, that's why you will see a token listed on an exchange but no price value showing in MEW, because MEW is yet to support it.

do you mean estimation? those who have $ in MEW are tokens that have been registered in coinmarketcap, many tokens that have not been registered in coinmarketcap but have been traded, this is not a problem registered in coinmarketcap or not

I think you are right that not all coins that do not have a price cannot be traded, of course they can be traded in several other exchanges and the OP must always actively communicate with the project channel they are following. because it's important to know the latest news about the coins obtained by the OP.

All toekns built on the ethereum blockchain are tradable via ethereum based decentralized exchanges using the tokens smart contract, tge tokens doesn't have rk be listed on the exchange before it can be traded. A popular exchange that this can be done on is ForkDelta. Also that the token don't have a price value on the wallets doesn't mean it's not tradable. Some tokens are newly listed or the exchange they're been traded on isn't support by the service providers you're using to view the token (mostly etherscan, since you're speaking of MEW).

Myetherwallet gets the price of the tokens through API from a limited number of exchanges. i.e. Myetherwallet does not look for prices in every available exchanges but a selected few. If the token in context isn't listed on the exchanges supported by the Myetherwallet, it's price won't be displayed. Even if the price is not shown in Myetherwallet, you may be able to trade them somewhere.

yes you are right, and sometimes there are tokens that don't have $ but can be traded. they usually use DEX like forkdelta. so don't be too fixated on the information on MEW because it's usually not appropriate.

It's because there might be people who wants to buy/sell token which isn't still listed but they think investing in this token would be profitable. Token built in ethereum blockchain can be traded at forkedelta.

Try to look at the Dex exchange like etherdelta or forkdelta. All new tokens do not have a $ value on myetherwallet but can be traded on a Dex exchange as long as it is ERC20. So, don't focus on $ only, but the true value.

do you mean that your token / altcoin in the MyetherWallet wallet doesn't have a price of $? Try writing your token on this site https://www.coingecko.com/en , maybe you will find the answer.

I don’t understand why you want your wallet to show the price in dollars. if the tokens are already trading then you can easily calculate how much it will be in dollars

I did not get what you mean. But maybe you are talking about decentralised trades? You can trade all your tokens on decentralised exchanges like Etherdelta and its price won't be shown on Etherscan, because there is not enough volume and no centralised exchange listing.

remember that not all the tokens make it to exchanges. many of them die in birth before even raising any funds, or some even after it since the owners run away or the project fails for many different reasons.

then people have to dump them in other ways like the small exchanges or decentralized exchanges that don't really have the process of listing as the centralized ones so you could practically dump any useless garbage there easily.

The answer is peer-to-peer. Those trades you see on those exchanges are most likely decentralized ones. So it's not like a normal centralised exchange where you need to list. Anyone can create any token and then just put an ask order on a dex, if someone wants to they are free to buy it. That's the beauty of these platforms;)

You can't trade tokens that are not listed on exchanges yet, you have to hold then till they are listed on exchange or you can use dex exchange

It's not the job of MEW to do the price checking for those tokens that has used their platform. I don't see this as a problem so if you already know that your token can be traded on exchanges and it's not appearing on MEW, so what? does MEW cares? no.
Everything can be traded as long as there's a taker for those tokens you have. There might be no exchange but you can send to other ETH address for those ERC20 tokens.

if the token in your wallet (MEW) does not look nominal or the price list of $ does not mean you cannot sell it. Usually tokens can be traded on other exchanges, or maybe for more information it would be better if you contact their channel contact, usually the team always updates information to trade the token on several exchanges that they have determined ...
