Ever since the Internet has spread around the world, and Android phones have become available to people, people's interest in TV has decreased.  Earlier people used to eagerly wait to watch TV or watch entertainment programs on TV and even watch TV news.  At present Facebook, Tik Tok and YouTube can keep the news through them.  Moreover, news can be seen in chunks on these platforms.  People are more interested in these things because there is no hassle of TV ads.  Because people now prefer shortcuts.

I used to watch the news of TV channels and once people used to know the news of the country and abroad through an accurate news report, but now TV channels can't publish accurate reports, and especially the ruling government's biased news. People don't care much about news if they don't publish the right news. Again, the person enjoys various news programs through his smart phone, and in this way, people's addiction to watching TV has decreased.

My TV broke years ago, and it wasn't worth replacing. Looks like a lot of other people are waking up. Of course, cellphones have had a lot to do with it... and TikTok, etc.

REPORT: The Liberal Late Night Shows That No One Watches Are on Their Way Out

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/08/report-liberal-late-night-shows-that-no-one/
It has gotten to the point where almost the only guests on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert are Democrat politicians and hosts from CNN or MSNBC.

Millions of Americans have been turned off and have tuned out. As a result, many of these shows are going to be phased out eventually.

The New York Post reports:

The end is nigh for snoozefest late-night talk shows

In an interview this week, Jimmy Kimmel conceded that the end is nigh for late-night talk shows.

"I don't know if there will be any late-night television shows on network TV in 10 years," the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" host said.

"Maybe there'll be one but there won't be a lot of them."

Jimmy's right. The culling has already commenced.

After James Corden departed "The Late Late Show" in 2023, CBS didn't kick off a dramatic "Late Shift"-style talent search of yesteryear — the network brass replaced it with a comedy game show called "After Midnight."…

Late night is now squarely aimed at 50-and-up MSNBC viewers who don't mind skipping "The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle" and are content with Jimmy Fallon's struggles to make eye contact. Viewers are probably doing the dishes.

These shows have never in history been such a tedious afterthought.

These shows lost the plot and very few people will miss them.
...

Cool
I don't see any need of night news anymore because the cellphones have already gotten everything that we need, so it doesn't really matter anymore but their are some people they can't stay with listening to that late houre news. Why because it makes them know their next move for the next day but currently now it seems no need for it.

...not only late night news, people's attention has been drawn away from most TV programmes and they are still living comfortably and satisfied because the social media and the Internet in general makes available all they're looking for in TV shows. The interesting thing is that people no longer care about TV shows as long as  they can move about with their smart phones.

The world is evolving, and as it is evolving, a lot of things are becoming irrelevant by the day. It is best that these TV show promoters adapt to these changes too by joining the social media trend with good shows where people easily subscribe to,  watch and enjoy. Many will be be thrown out of business if they choose to only stick to just a show on the TV.

I don’t watch any mainstream news, it’s all a load of propaganda bull shit. They only screen what they want you to see, they try to shape our thinking. I’ve said it before but Twitter is the best place for real life, breaking news with unbiased reporting. Community Notes is genius, the only place where free speech is allowed.

Yes, it's a good idea. All the media should do this. Let people talk. Arrange it into categories. And state which of the categories are not officially endorsed by the media. But let it be posted, anyway, rather than censoring it.

My TV broke years ago, and it wasn't worth replacing. Looks like a lot of other people are waking up. Of course, cellphones have had a lot to do with it... and TikTok, etc.

Those days we were very sure that our father would come back home before six every evening. He had a full-time job that was able to take care of our needs. By seven every evening we would sit with him the the living room and watch some educative programmes and also the network news by nine. Now my children can't predict when I am leaving for work or when I will be back. The workplace has become complex and unpredictable. Parents now have to engage in different side hustles to cope with family responsibilities. I don't have much time for television programmes because I watch or listen to almost everything with my phone or computer. I am sure my children have also adapted to this new style because they prefer to use the internet rather than subscribe to cable channels.

Mainstream Media news channels are not worth watching. It’s a load of propaganda, conditioned nonsense for weak minds. They show you what they want to show you & how they want you to perceive it. Elon Musk’s X is the best place for real world, unbiased breaking news.

The mainstream media is gradually fading away from people's interest because of the advent of the mobile phones which have taken the news media to a different level where you don't have to undergo the stress of buying a TV cable to get a simple information that will benefit you. All thanks to the introduction of YouTube which was founded in February 2005 and later became a big video sharing platform that's doing the jobs of the mainstream TV media platforms with much more seamless approach of streaming online right on the comfort of your mobile phone.

The livestreaming feature which was introduced in 2008 and saw its gradual growth until 2001 has now become a major edge over the mainstream media and YouTube still remains at the top right now. Introducing YouTube monetization in August 2007 with the requirements of having over 1000 subscribers and over 4000 watch hours publicly have further moved the platform to a nearly unbeaten stride in the industry now.

Today, many TV stations have quickly adopted the use of YouTube on their programs because they also need to step up their game to get more audience, popularity and viewership and to also generate revenues online with the YouTube Partners Program.

I haven't had a TV since 2017, I'm living happily Smiley

Lol  Grin there's TV here but I can't remember the last time I sat down in front it. The last thing I think I would ever do is to watch news on television. I will rather watch some other programs or series of movies if I have that time but not news.

TV stations only report news that aligns with their beliefs, not based on public interests. Moreover, most of these news channels have also transformed their services to allow people to stream their news live online since they discovered that people don't longer have interest in watching television.

I do have a big Samsung (75 inches), I also have IPTV but mostly using it only for Netflix and other services. News are ON only daytime and when we have some friends invited, so it is like a ”distraction” just

Television has become boring with the advent of the Internet and various platforms where you can watch movies, cartoons and so on. It's either news or nonsense on TV. That's why I put it away a long time ago.

Honestly even those households with TV only use Smart TV these days. Who wants to sit down and wait for channels with allotted time when you can just rewatch any news or show you want anytime with the use of the internet.

Anything can be searched in just a few clicks these days. Television news is not the only platform anymore to get news from. There’s also social media no matter how credible and accurate they are, they still deliver news to the people.

Actually, this is an article which does not completely talks or addresses the lack of interest from people towards news on TV in general, this is an article rather focused on late night news shows, which were very popular back in the day when people day very long shifts and only had their night off to keep in touch with news and whatever was going on in their country, politically. As other have said, those show are pretty much destined to get reduced in numbers as time goes on, not so many people restrict themselves on watching their news late at night and now it is possible to keep us informed at any hour, following our preferred accounts on social media.
Though, we are also supposed to be careful and keep a minimum of critical thinking when comes on choosing what source to trust, when there is a wild west of information going on where anyone can say anything unquestioned (or with a lot of people unwilling to do their own research) it becomes chaotic and easy for people to fall for misinformation.

Internet and cellphone has changed that idea of watching TV, instead of watching it you listen to it with, remember back then when it was like a must for people to keep to time to watch the news and they hardly miss it. But these days I don't feel there's any need watching the news when all you get are bad news and we don't see any news that's good or exciting any more, to me is best not to watch the late night TV news, since some don't have TV anymore.

The powers that be understand that we understand that standard TV news is mostly foolishness. They know that we have gone to alternative media. That's why they do all the censoring of Facebook and Youtube, etc. We need to dig deeper to find the truth. And we need to use some discretion with whatever news we absorb.

So, you're asking about late night shows or late night news? About news, I barely watch it. Simply because I don't have time to watch reports about something that I saw on social media few hours ago.
Late night shows sometimes is fun to watch, but I can't stand all these commercial breaks. Sometimes it's so long that you can forget what you're watching.

Elon Musk’s X is the best place for real world, unbiased breaking news.
Unbiased? I would argue about it. It's also biased, just in opposite direction. It would be difficult to find news which is completely unbiased.

Since the inception of the internet most TV shows are not being watched like before, people now have more options to choose what they really want to watch not what is available to watch. There's YouTube, Facebook, tick-tock and many sites to click and get the specific information that you need. You can now watch movies of your choice on your phone, you no longer have to wish when a TV station will show it again. Late night shows have to become more innovative and give people interesting reasons to stay up late to watch their shows. Otherwise it's the beginning of the end of their era because there are more things to see online than anybody will care to watch and learn.

Yes! People still watch the late night shows and news updates, people like my dad. The old man believe that's where he can get all the news he need and hardly does he miss having a timeout.

Severally I told him those presenters are feeding you with filtered buzz. All their news are geared towards the interest of the state. As national stations they are regulated, gagged not to say otherwise to the public. But my old boy don't care what I say.

I don't blame him though, in his time there was no X (twitter), TikTok,. Instagram and many of the online platforms where we all now have access to clean information and news as they break with just a click on a phone button weren't available back then. And it's  no gainsaying to state that decades from now much of these late night shows/news channel would go extinct.

I don't really want to watch the news anymore because I have been away from all this entertainment for 17 years under a dictatorial government. However, peace has started to return to the country after the fall of the dictatorial government. But until now, during this dictatorial government, if I did not watch news, I used to watch various entertaining videos through mobile phones. But now I watch various entertaining videos on mobile including TV and watch the news of the country now I like it a lot because my country is completely independent now.
