I think it's more complicated than Good / Bad..

Some coins have no mining system, and so have no way of distributing the coins the way BTC does.

The reason you have an ICO is so that you set a price floor for the coin.

If you give it out for free, nice I admit, it's worthless, and any user who received coins will sell them for little / almost nothing and still be up.

If you spend 1 BTC on the ICO you won't sell your coins for less than 1 BTC. This is the important bit. That's why you have to pay.

The problem with ICO is that the coin devs can, if they want to, spend the money they collect buying at least 50% of the initial distribution.

So, I think that IBO, BURNING coins, is the way to go..

Then you set the price floor, as you have had to spend(burn) coins, and the devs can't do anything dodgy.

(ps I'm not saying the devs would, but there is trust required, which there shouldn't be..)

Well there are really coins dont just pump and dump there are still good coins to consider but most of them are behaving this way which they pump hard and then dump hard after thats why other traders on buyers do suffer lose with this kind of moves. ICO's are good to make decent profits as long you are alert enough to sell when it launches to exchangers.

I look at ICO like at start-ups. There not many ICO that have any business plan for future.
Mass adoption ? That was 1000x with any coin around trying...
ICO like any others belongs to you or you invest or not.
You can choose invest in project/company like /Etherum/Lisk/Jewels/ICONOMI with known devs or you can try look for
irrational goals like deCluds, Opair projects that from 1st look seems to be scams.

In ICOs are burning people like old days with premined coins i see no big difference here but here honest devs are securing funds to
run working ecosystem if that ecosystem has a good business plan it can be succeed.

PS: like with start-ups 1/100 will be winner rest will burn you. This is truth.

Good or not is just can defining from the result of the ico, at the pre ann about ico a lot of people will making a lot of prediction about the ico. but especially in this time too many the people is wanna creating their own coin for get a profit from them and that's show me the chance of risk in ico is increases. and that is be a risky today.

Ico sometimes being good and bad. Because some of new coins
are scam, ponzi scheme and others traders are being greedy.
Other traders also gain profit well, ico also good if dev have a plan
for the coins that will release in the market.
