Our Body demand only enough food for a day , but this is depending in what we are needing and wanting to our body , some wanted to gain much so they eat a lot , some wanted to maintain their fitness so they lessen their intake and others wanted to lose weight so they tend to eat even lesser .
what we need to understand is too much is bad and too less is also bad.

Of course I am not willing to compromise on food because food is a very favorite thing for everyone especially the variety of food is very interesting for us and the flowers give us great satisfaction so we must never compromise on this food.  I don't think it will so food is very necessary for us to maintain our body shape in our daily life

Nyah personally, i don't need that much of food during a day, i just need a little bit for my stomach, just to help it not to disturb me during the day or in work, yes it's good to each a lot and to have a good consummation program, and eat healthy food and, but it's nit danger if you eat just a little bit

I'm not really into food , I only eat twice a day and I hate sweet foods (aside from fruits of course)
so basically i only consume so little from what OP is asking maybe 2 pounds of meat and a little pasta and side dish?

and also determined by our budget? because even if we wanted to eat more but we are
not capable to buy more then we may end dieting  Grin

you eat 2lb of meat but cant afford vegetables..
try 1/4pound of meat 2x a day (half lb of meat a day) and use money saved to add more sustenance to the mix

meat and pasta doesnt give you full range of nutrients. add some vegetables or ingredients with varied flavouring

They have no option in space so yeah they must eat what is available but the problem is that in our houses we have lot of available food and its hard to resist.

Right?? Food for astronauts are different. They have limited storage when theyre in space so they carefully design astronaut diets to meet nutritional needs while considering factors like weight and preservation. They are not meant to stay there forever and eat like that forever.
Everyone just need enough food to live. Some are just privileged enough to have more and some are unfortunate tonhave less. The best we can do is to share and eat food as we live right?

of course with Vegetables or greens to be specific ot those leafy vegetables.
I think the amount of food we consume, is determined by our stomach. Humans have different modes of eating and this modes of eating ranges from the amount we have been consuming right from childhood, while some are based on the body system which Natural comsumes alot of food. While some are medical issues which need to be attended to. But In all, non should be compared to astronots who stays in space where there is no good food or enough food like Earth, which has somany things.

in Our country , you are lucky if you can manage to eat at least 1 pound of meat a day because we are a carbohydrates country .
meaning we only have small portion of meat and plenty of rice , while Cheese? we are lucky to have cheese for a week  time Grin..

but now that I am Diabetic ? i stopped eating rice and instead goes to veggies and meat now (of course added expenses )

Yeah, sugar is addictive and that's why when we're kids we like it and even as adults, it's still addicting. I am trying to pick and monitor my intakes especially with drinks because they're tasty, the sugary drinks aka sodas.

the amount of food we consume will also depend on how much we need or we’re going to burn off if you are an athlete your diet might differ from other people
I am not an athlete and usually sits a long time but I do some of the workouts that I need when I go out and make sure that I sweat a lot. That's why even if I eat sometimes too much, I can still manage.

I think that we should stay healthy and consume just as much as our body needs to function
i guess it's just a matter of being picky and whatnot

I don't think that we need a lot of food everyday. Look at the Japanese people, they only eat what they body needs and they don't get full every meal.

We only need what our body needs, not too much ,for too much of every thing is bad . Of our various ages  we eat our balance diet ,starting from a toddler to the aged .
 We have to consider our health issues,expiring date ,type  if it is for you or not, when eating any food ,the food must be quality enough to meet our body nutrients  In other to avoid malnutrition .we eat to live not live to eat ,too much of every thing is bad

calories are not even a substance or nutrient
calories are a mathematicians unit of a calculation of something else

your body needs a whole range of real nutrients.
sugars&fats, vitamins, proteins, minerals

of those 4 categories there are different individual nutrients
for instance
sugars&fats is the family of: dextrose, glucose, fructose, lactose, sucrose, maltose
and they all have different reaction, effect and need of the body


Yeah, technically calorie is unit that define the energy consumed by human but yeah, for someone needs to be considered healthy they need a balanced diet of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) as well as micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). And it really varies depending on our body needs It comes to the point, that you may need a lot of food or just a portion but only you get to decide that.

of those family of sugars and fats. although mathematicians count them equally as "calories"/energy.. they have a different glycaemic index of how much energy they release per hour but calories does not count them this way

having a soda with Y teaspoons of sugar. vs solid food of same Y teaspons of sugar suggest the same calories.. but in fluid form(soda) your bodies energy spikes more


anyways we are getting offtopic(in a off topic category)

OP's post imagining daily food delivery to the moon/space station is a fantasy due to the cost of delivery..
however when they start "space mining" and colonising the moon. they will be doing regular deliveries of equipment using re-usable rockets and those payloads wil have food supplies.. and seeds.. where eventually after time the moon will be growing their own produce

astronauts dont eat pills

they have 2 litres of water and 2kg of food (2litre=2kg so 4kg combined of water and food total a day)
technically its dehydrated food of 500g which they put 1.5lire into pouch to re hydrate

its much the same as things on earth
1cup dehydrated potato flake+3 cups water = instant mashed potato
1 cup dried rice+3 cup water= cooked soft rice
1cup lentils+3cups water=lentil soup
