Ok so it was a vulnerability on IOS app and that might have already been fixed. It's not that your private keys were going anywhere or the app developer using our funds. It just meant a loophole existed that could have been exploited to find your locally saved private key.
We always go through these bugs and vulnerabilities and as it advances with patches, it becomes more and more secure. I would have expected better security on trust wallet app but as we have moved forward, we know trust wallet is more secure than ever. I'd still trust the trust wallet as it's one of the best non-custodial wallet we have.
Pretty sure they fixed it already because as far as I know they are still one of the leading crypto wallets up until this date. I am only wondering on why it happened on iOS and not in Android, when I think iOS is more secure but I am also aware that there is no perfect system and some iOS apps are experiencing the same problem even before, so why not on Trustwallet this time?

Our private keys might still be in our possessions but if a hacker access it, they can also have a copy of it and they can now send everything on it to their desired wallet, therefore I won't say that " it's only just a loophole " because this is where an exploit can start.

Since using trustwallet when giving their TWT coins airdrop I don't get any problem yet with this wallet and keep secure when holding cryptocurrency assets, I don't know with some respond reason don't trust with trustwallet for saving their cryptocurrency assets because more than several years use this wallet platform I don't get losses my coins.
I think much problem face with drain wallet is not fault of trustwallet as place for saving your cryptocurrency assets but some dapp connection or approval make your assets loss, its not only happen with trustwallet but all platform wallet when connecting with scam site your cryptocurrency assets will loss and the hacker make bot with your wallet when receiving coins automatically sending to the hacker address.
I have also been using TrustWallet without any problems. As I mentioned, the problem only occurs with users who created accounts in 2018 and TrustWallet has also warned them to transfer their crypto assets to new accounts. This just makes me a little worried about the existence of some undetected bug in the app we are using.

i am an old user of trust wallet back in 2018 but i didn't see such warn for old users because i am still using trust wallet without having any problems.
i think i see still some bugs in trust wallet, i can not transfer bitcoin from trust wallet to another wallet, i don't know what wrong with only btc transactions.

  • Are you using TrustWallet? Will you continue to trust TrustWallet?
  • Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
  • Is a hardware wallet really necessary for your crypto investment?
Answer to your first question above is yes. Yes, I trust Trust Wallet to continue using it. I first used TW in 2021 and the ease of navigation on the app got me hooked on it. Ever since then, I kept a close tab on it. For those complaining of it being a close source or of hacks, they ought to know that the responsibility of protecting our tokens/coins lies with us. Apps are just apps, not humans. If we don't keep them safe and secured, they will get tampered with and their security breached. It doesn't matter how hack proof we think they're.

Yes, I do have other crypto wallets I use; ranging from Metamask to TokenpPocket, SafePal, just to mention but three.

To the last question, nope. I don't need a hardware wallet at the moment. Maybe when I gather something substantial I can think in that direction.

Trustwallet is no more a Trustwallet even from the beginning when I new it it was not a Trustwallet for me. The name name would have implies to the wallet but the wallet does different things wis the his name. The following are the things I don't like from a wallet. More than one Wallet address in the app. That is there is Dogecoin, Solana coin, Bome coin, Well to some extent Myetherwallet (MEW App) is better than Trustwallet for now and that what I just used today to start my investment. And also the transaction fee in Trustwallet is too high even when the transaction fee for all wallets are low but for the Trustwallet is still big.

So I am not interested to use Trustwallet again because of those factors.

I would like to know your views on crypto wallets:
  • Are you using TrustWallet? Will you continue to trust TrustWallet?
  • Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
  • Is a hardware wallet really necessary for your crypto investment?

1. I don't really believe in trust wallet, because it was developed by Binance and we can't even access the private key.  Maybe for small assets, there is still good to use it, but for large amounts it is not recommended.  Indeed, the documentation says that they don't have access to our account and don't store our wallet data, but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes.  Many people say they have access to our wallets, but I can't confirm it and that makes me doubt it.  As far as I can see, Trust Wallet is a good one with its multi wallet feature.  Just the issue that I mentioned above makes me a little wary.

2. Yes I do. In 2017, I use MEW web to create an ETH wallet.  But now WEW web no longer supports creating a new wallet there.  So now I have to try the MEW app, and I don't really like it because access to the private key is protected.  I also use ImToken around 2018, but I stopped using it after the hacked incident around 2018. Now I use Metamask and I feel comfortable there.

3. I don't think I need it now.  I think it would be very useful if I had a lot of assets.

Any online wallet can't be fully trusted. Although I use this wallet quite sometimes, I don't have the guts to keep my funds there for long nor have a huge amount stuck there. Trust wallet is just an alternative option when needed but I converted my funds and sent it to my main wallet (electrum). But I don't think it is wrong to use Trust Wallet provided that our computer or any device we use is not compromised already. No matter what kind of storage wallet is if we still using a compromised computer that leads to losing our entire funds.
Anyway, choose the wallet which you think is safe.

Firstly I don't recommend trust wallet for many reasons especially since I found out it was owned by a centralized exchange (Binance) and also a closed wallet, there is a high risk of them freezing your funds or reporting anonymousity to government bodies.

I do recommend software wallets like blue wallet and Electrum cause I've used it before and m3tamusk for anything concerning altcoins, but jts safe you stay away from trust wallet.

Individual with his/her own opinion. Well you made some points here but to me, this doesn't make me to avoid trust wallet nor lose my trust on it. Although just like you've said software wallets like blue wallet and Electrum are the best to hold your coin for long but one can still use trust wallet for it's simplicity.

I started using trust wallet from scratch when I joined this forum and started understanding about different crypto currency wallets.I continue to use Trust Wallet to this day.
I haven't been scammed using this wallet yet but don't know if others have.

Maybe there are many members connected to this forum who still have trust wallet as one of their preferred wallets. Many also hold their invested bitcoins or other coins in trust wallets for safety. However, the secure system of trust wallet is improving day by day.

  • Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
  • Is a hardware wallet really necessary for your crypto investment?

Let me start by saying I am a mobile user I work on bitcoin forums with my mobile complete bitcoin transactions and all the work I do with my mobile even though I have a laptop I don't do all my work with my laptop. Yes the wallet I definitely use to hold my bitcoins and other coins is trust wallet. I use trust wallet to hold my bitcoins along with other coins. I have tried unique wallets and am still using them but main focus is only trust wallets. Using a hardware wallet for Kipto investment is very important but it is not very expensive which is why I am using a software wallet. But I cautiously put my wallet credentials in the hope that I don't fall into any scams.

Initially trustwallet app was my best wallet I do store my funds but after some research made over here I came to understand that trustwallet is not an open source code wallet rather a close source, this is for those who knows about wallet more than me, but for my to pay a deft ears I have to follow instructions on what people who knows more than me is saying I then download Electrum wallet and then import my seed phrase to the wallet and now I am comfortable with my funds while storing inside it electrum wallet. But for the period of using trustwallet I have never encountered any error or problems since I started using it no too long as those who were using it far way back 2018 and of curse I still trust trustwallet app.

I rarely use Dapps except when I want to swap tokens on Pancake or 1inch. If a user is actively participating in DeFi, I think they should create an additional account to interact with the smart contract of the new project. The main account will only be responsible for storing the majority of crypto assets and will always be secure.
It is very important for us to always ensure that we keep updating our wallets because there might be noticable bugs in the previous edition that is why the team always make sure they keep adding more functionality and interface that will make it easier for users to use the wallet without any problem. If we keep using a wallet that is not always updated, hackers could find a bug and manipulation it to scam users of there funds. The Trust wallet is far better than many of the wallet available now.

I'm not sure with this. Because honestly, it's been a long time not using this wallet. Actually, I used to use this wallet for certain transactions only, but not really often. So, it is not really significantly influenced by what is happening at the moment or what is of concern at the moment.

There's nothing wrong with the use of trust wallet as long as you understand the components its made up of, this is a wallet that is close source wallet and aside this, every other thing concerning trust wallet is to be trusted because its a non custodial wallet, you can as well see that the wallet supported a varieties of cryptos, only that scammers often set some target in using this wallet to attack others who are not conscious on what is going on.
Many people share things like this. This means that so far, there is no problem with using TrustWallet. It's just that, we as individuals have to really understand the security of our assets. Don't let us be careless or commit carelessness that could jeopardize our assets in an online wallet like this. This will also depend on our asset management. Because sometimes, scammers and hackers don't need a reason to take assets from anywhere and from anyone, especially if they have a way to do it.

  • Are you using TrustWallet? Will you continue to trust TrustWallet?
To be honest, I still use trust wallet but not as a permanent wallet, I only use it for some stupid Altcoins that I don't want to really hold. and for test purposes.

But I don't trust Trust wallet is a closed source wallet, which means it certainly has a back door which is only known but the owners and develop. Trust wallet is never an option for storing any of your valued crypto assets. There are some good open source wallet for storing you crypto asset.

  • Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
Yes for sure I'm using a closed source wallet, electrum is fkr my Bitcoin assets but in an air gapped device while I use Blue wallet sometimes for temporary storage, for every other altcoin I use metamask.

  • Is a hardware wallet really necessary for your crypto investment?
Hardware wallets are important but it's optional, I mean you can decide not to use it for real but if you wish then you should try Trazor.

Actually most of the time I am using exchange wallet because I want to enjoy the best time for investment. But you should know that the best wallet will help your money last longer where you will be 100% safe. Meanwhile trust wallet is popular due to which many people are using it now. Almost all wallets will be best for you if you can keep your wallet information strictly confidential. But you should know that exchange wallet will not be best for long time holding.

Yes I am using trust wallet, and will continue to use it if only I need it. I m not in full trust to "TrustWallet" because of close source, so genius people can not contribute or watch their code to find a logical problems. So far I only use trustwallet for transactions.

Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
Yes, I use it to store some assets. I never store asset in same wallet address, I split into several accounts.

I also use trust wallet by installing it on my mobile phone, transactions are much easier. Much more helpful for small transactions and lower fees. If you are looking for a wallet other than Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets then Trust Wallet is considered a platform. Trust Wallet is designed in such a way that users can easily buy, sell and store cryptocurrencies for long periods of time, and its interface is not difficult to understand.
right, trust wallet is very handy wallet with comparing others mobile wallets, still i didn't find another one which is very mobile user friendly and very easy features to understand everyone, and in this wallet fees is very low and very easy to make transaction, for such reason it's quite popular mobile wallet. i have been using it for long time.
