In India btc is very new concept. Only few peoples are use cryptos and exchanges. They know BTC but don't familiar with the term of cryptocurrency and blockchains. So this is the time when Scammers play their tricks.
In middle of 2019 when I was new in this crypto platform I joined a whatsapp group where I got a message from a man who offers me a btc,eth any crypto doubler site, I fall that trap but in less time I got the scam and block him. Although many sites who offers some dollars and get our kyc documents which is I think is a scam.
Unfortunately, there are still gullible people. Especially those who crave easy money. In hope, people do stupid things, give up their data, security keys and scammers still thrive! As long as there are fools, there will be new schemes! Once my friend was offered to split the income from an Internet project in which 3 bitcoins were frozen. The person needed an Internet bank card for cashing out, He believed that they wanted to share with him!) As a result, the account data was changed and he lost access to his card forever! Be careful and do not believe in luck!) Nobody just gives anything!
People are gullible but the scammers are also pretty innovative. Finding bitcoin and Ethereum for the first time on the internet can led you to believe a lot of people. Greed is your worst enemy but so can be over enthusiasm. I got almost scammed when i believed a guy on OLX offering to sell GPU's at the same prices as that in the US, even though they were at a 50-70% premium on all normal Indian websites like primeabgb, mdcomputers etc. The guy was from Pune and he sent me elaborate receipts, pictures, videos of the cards etc.

@Spectr Max, I see that the BTC bullrun may have brought you to the forum. We are always looking for newbies who can engage in good discussion and think for themselves on the Indian sub. If you are from around these parts (and have no issue in declaring so), then you are welcome to post an intro post on this link. Don't give any personally identifiable information. Just some tidbits about your experience with crypto. People like giving away merit to good stories there.

Plenty. When i first heard about bitcoin, I also heard about this guy Amit Bhardwaj peddling a sort of token on his website. A lot of people i know were investing in it. Turned out that he just scooped up all that BTC and fled. He was pretty much a serial scammer and you can see the excellent posts by user tmfp that he posted on the Indian sub.

Then there were those who threw money into cloud mining scams. The perpetrators had Youtube channels in Hindi which took you to their purported mining facilities in China (which was actually just some data center).

The moderator of Indian sub Benson Samuel started a company called, Coinsecure, I believe. Seems like he wasn't secure from his own partners. One of his partners ran away with keys to their cold wallet and disappeared. People haven't heard from Benson on the forum since then. I wish he is well and somehow over that act of deceit.

A lot of. You will be certainly aware of ATC coin. Now there's still one coin in the market which has one video from Vivek Bindra.

There would be so many scams around which we might not be even aware of. Some of the exchanges ends up saying that they got hacked etc and investors lose money. So, this is also sort of scam only as you are not sure what happened, but you end up losing your money. Below is an example of one of them.

Thanks fort the link, very  informative.

As unsolicited advise, better to trade with the top coins listed on coinmarketcap. Those newly launch especially riding the popularity of Defi lately should be check and scrutinize extensively. Its just like the ICO craze of 2017 where scammers are riding the  the craze. Still DYOR is important.

So many scammers now a days than before. People are locked inside the home and posting so many scam airdrops, messaging privately claiming that he will make you double of your money like that. I recommend all to not fall for this scam. Block or report them directly if they message you.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
Scam are rampant everywhere not just India. Now if someone trust a unknown person about trading and believes that they can make a lot of money by sending money to that person then they are the one risk.

Too bad people are so greedy about making money in short time. Few people understand the importance of hard work and determination in making money but instead go for short term gains.

They are not difficult to avoid though. Use your logic, if someone has a method to make money easily, would they share it with others or use it to make a lot money themselves only?

In 2019 people were arrested in India for the scam project names as KBC coin and Jio coin was one of the popular term roam around the internet but nothing officially from the Jio company so someone trying to steal money with that name but not sure they launched that project or not.

Apart from the projects lot of scams related to cryptos were happening in India especially while buying bitcoin.

The scammers are all around us. They recently looted lots of money by hacking some of the celebrity twitter accounts. In our country did you ever find any scam is going on in the name of cryptocurrencies? I got some phone calls 2 years back, where some guy was telling me that he would assist me btc trading which will make me rich. That was a scam, surely.
