Thanks for revamping such a helpful thread! And I think I can add something here, too... This is an interesting article about the online cricket betting evolution and some tips for fellow Indian gamblers: https://www.outlookindia.com/outlook-spotlight/the-online-cricket-betting-evolution-india-s-history-formats-and-tips-news-303086

Hello brother, I am from lucknow , Uttar pradesh. I joined this forum back in 2017 but never made use of this channel nor buying bitcoin at low prices.
I got into bad habit of gambling and always just gambled whatever amount i got and i got into some serious troubles in my family too 6 months ago because of it. Yes now i have stopped gambling, my family is helping me and 6 months i have not done any gambling.
Yes in this forum now i want to gain more and more knowledge about bitcoin, altcoins and trading and at the same time i also want to earn some through signature campaigns.
Also i write crypto currency related articles now whenever i get them.
I am trying to earn money slowly now on my own and stay away from gambling.
Good to know Shiva. Very good to know that you have kicked of the habit and are focussing on the more constructive areas of bitcoin and blockchain. There is always so much to learn and explore. If you keep learning, eventually the doors open for you to become part of something exciting.

If you write articles, then you are welcome to share them on the Indian sub as we are always looking for new people willing to engage the Indian sub. With the bull market, scammers always come onto the scene. We need more people to educate others about becoming financially responsible and Doing their own research. People tend to fall into greed by watching others and then a lot of people lose money and bitcoin gets a bad name. Everybody should try to fight against this at their own level as bitcoin is a beautiful technology with a great history.

The forum doesn't encourage sharing your location and other information but good to know. You can use the "Edit" button to remove such information. Good luck for your journey onwards. I'd look into your post history in a while and merit what I find useful. Good luck.

--snip-- I am kind of busy with my works especially in this covid so didn't have enough time to engage with the community but I will try to post more here when I have something to share with our community.
Yeah, COVID has been crazy. Everyone has limited time and it is totally a return versus investment calculation when it comes to allocating your time. The forum will always remain the best source of information on bitcoin and developments. So, IMO it is always good to work and establish a symbiotic relationship with the forum.

Hi my indian friends , well i am not a new member , but was not much active before , well we all have to live a real life as well so Cheesy but now i am back , its good to c how many indian friends are active here Smiley well when i was active before my account was hacked and hacker used it for some sig. champion so i got some -ve trust , but after that i got my account back , told them that my account was hacked plz removed ur -ve trust but they never listen , dam , anyways past is past now it is like a fresh start  Smiley
So, are you now the original owner? Because this account has been inactive for 4 years already. Once an account has been trust marked, it is not possible to get it over. Especially if its from Lauda, as he is retired from the forum now.

Also, I checked your posting history and it is quite clear that your account didn't get "hacked" but you just stopped using it. Both @Lauda and @Yahoo62278 were exemplary judges in such cases. Anyways, I have no idea if you've bought this account or just decided to login after 4 years. You were at the forum since 2014 so I am pretty sure you made bank. Hopefully, you have learned your lessons and leading a honest, happy online life now.

So what was your best experience back from 2014?

Well i am the original owner of this account from the beginning , and yes my account was hacked in previous , after getting those -ve trust i stopped using this forum for a quite long time , and any mod can make sure that i am the original owner anyways as i said past is past now i am back wanna have some fun and i have to learn a lot since i left for a long time.

I saw that H_H back with his raffles so let's see we are going to get the traffic again or not, personally I am kind of busy with my works especially in this covid so didn't have enough time to engage with the community but I will try to post more here when I have something to share with our community. And also thanks for Hhampuz for encouraging localboard users. Kiss

I am yet to be technically strong with bitcoin technology but with trading I have been successful now and now I am more trading on Wazirx which is giving best user experience than other exchanges in my opinion.

Thank you veterans for encouraging newbies!

Apart from that, this train has just been slowly chugging along. I keep bumping up my merit thread for newbies but they mostly get lost in the maze of global subs, hunting for bounties after a few posts of engagement. So, As you can tell, Noting's changed..Welcome back.. Hope life is treating you well..
There are lot of Indians are active in the bitcointalk but they forget to visit their sub board, probably due to lack of merit distribution just my opinion. And also most signature campaign doesn't count the local board post so they feel there is no incentive if they are active in their board.

Do you have any idea to bring the posters into this sub board?
Ideas. Well, last year a lot of us brainstormed quite a few and that is where the idea for a raffle came up which @Heisenberg_Uncertainty organizes. I think engagement begets engagement. We could start with users like yourself coming up and posting more.

When new people post more, it becomes an exciting opportunity for those of us who have been here for a while to have a chance at an engaging community. I agree about the fact that the signature campaigns not counting local posts can be a net negative. Yet, thanks to Roobet and @Hhampuz, I again have incentive to post in the local sub. I personally will be happy to engage with and merit young users for useful posts on the Indian sub.

When i started this thread, merit were limited but now that is not an issue. Hopefully, we can have more Indians sharing their legit experiences and knowledge out here.

To motivate the new joiners of the sub-forum I will restart the raffles again by this month. Apologize if someone had been eager to know the status of the raffles, I got struck with various works since the beginning of this year and finally getting back on track again. It seems like toxicity has settled down a bit in the Indian forum and there isn't much happening over altogether.

Did I miss anything interesting @amishmanish  Huh
Hello H_H..Good to have you back. I am sure you have been in touch with the general sense of crypto with "The B Word" meetup, incoming regulations in the US and all. In the forum itself, a lot of merit sources had their quota bumped up with a PM from @Theymos. Good to have occasional reminders that he is always around as "The silent guardian, The watchful protector".

I think quite a few people in the Indian forum are now merit sources with increased merit. Just that there aren't enough people to send them to.

If anybody sees posts and newbies worth meriting (with a posting history of course), you can recommend them on this thread for newbies.

That is awesome!

As you are one of the active members of this board and now a merit source, your efforts will really help genuine Indian members to get some merits and rank up.

Its surprising that this fellow replies to you even though his last post on the forum was in 2017. I would like to know the story behind it. What was this "online game" about? Have you tried any of the blockchain games?? Frankly though, even if its your Alt, there is no problem in letting us know. That guy had good posts but looks like he gave up after doing a few bounties. We have all done "bounties" at some point. Roll Eyes

Guys like you still in college (I guess) and bringing technical know-how and time to the forum and Indian sub are something we need more of. Looking forward to you growing in the forum and contributing.
That online game was a free to play strategy game (building an Empire). We were together in what are known as "Alliances" and we had WhatsApp groups. So I contacted him on WhatsApp and he let me know what was up. We still talk to this day and have played some multiplayer games together here and there Smiley

I am still surprised that all the people from my "Alliance" still maintain contact even though most of us haven't played the game in years.

Edit: Just found out, and you were talking about the transaction from "1BrXVqWCPghJr28nM6iQ6LBwxYexekcViK" that is linked with that account. That was from a friend (met him on an online game (GoodgameEmpire) and I had bought something which I wanted to be paid back for in BTC. He did tell me he had a BTCtalk account but didnt know which one, just asked him and he confirmed that that was his account!) Looking on the plus side, I learned to use Blocktrail today. Thanks!

Hey guys! I recently joined here, but I have known about bitcoin since around 2016-17. I had earned some bitcoin too, through some freelance work, and I am really interested in reading up and learning on Bitcoin, and the blockchain in general. I would like to understand trading as well. I am also learning Python programming and web development and interested in reading about that aspect of the Blockchain too.

Hey PhoenixZephyrus, glad you ended up here. But I don't think you are new to the forum Huh Are you an alt of TheBTCAlex  Huh

Python will be really helpful and it can help you in contributing to bitcoin as well. As you already know, Bitcoin is a currency by the people for the people and of the people and no one controls it and we (the users) are responsible for making this currency great. Currently we have far less developers who are contributing to Bitcoin Core from India and if you are willing to contribute something, join the weekly PR Review Club on Wednesday 10.30 PM - 11.30 PM in IRC and learn more about Bitcoin and its underlying technology. Here is the website for hosting and other information on joining : https://bitcoincore.reviews/

Meanwhile learn about Bitcoin python programming from Programming Bitcoin book by Jimmy Song. Here is an open-source version of the book hosted in github : https://github.com/jimmysong/programmingbitcoin

If you are willing to help the Bitcoin community by testing the latest 0.21rc1 version of software, you can check out the brief guide written by @jarolrod here : https://github.com/bitcoin-core/bitcoin-devwiki/wiki/0.21-Release-Candidate-Testing-Guide

No, but my ISP uses a static IP address. Is that the reason why the board might consider the IP same? I dont want to be considered an alt and banned from this forum really?!

On another note, thanks for the resources and that IRC link. Also, do you have an idea of how much expertise in python is required for development? I know quite a bit, but idk if that would be meaningful to Bitcoin Core community as a whole. I'll take a look at the books that you mentioned. Thanks.
