What are your thoughts about this? Personally, I usually try to buy with stablecoins if I have some, it just feels more natural for me. I don't want to touch my BTC while the market is still bad.

I do not mind paying in BTC.  Whether paying in cash, stablecoins or BTC, I feel it is all the same.  Since I only look at the current scenario where I need a fund to pay for the bills and other important things I need to buy.  After all, it does not make any difference since the amount in BTC to pay is the same amount in any form of currency.  If in case, we can replenish BTC with the money we have in hand.  So why regret paying in BTC when you can replenish if you have the money right away?

Hello everyone!
Recently I was thinking about BTC payments and I believe that the system is moving towards bitcoin adoption and paying with bitcoin. And it's great!

But the problem for me is that anytime I think about paying with BTC I feel somehow uncomfortable. I always remember the guy who spent 30+ bitcoins on pizza and now these bitcoins are worth a fortune. Like I don't want to be this guy and pay with an asset that WILL go up in price. It feels like you paying more for the product from a future perspective.

What are your thoughts about this? Personally, I usually try to buy with stablecoins if I have some, it just feels more natural for me. I don't want to touch my BTC while the market is still bad.
I think it would depend on what we paid for, because for me if it is something that we really needed at that time and we don't have any other option left then there is nothing to be sad or feel anything from it.
I paid with crypto so many times before for my internet connection or mobile data but I didn't regret it because I am using it to learn more and earn in crypto back then.

I would not pay with Bitcoin if I didn't have to, unless that was the only available fund I had to spend at that moment. But any time I spend Bitcoin, I don't feel bad about it. Laszlo Hanyecz, who spent 10,000 bitcoins on two pizzas, created a good historical event for Bitcoin that we will never forget. If I spend a significant amount of Bitcoin to purchase something in my home country and am remembered as the first person to do so, as Laszlo Hanyecz was, it would be a stroke of luck for me as well.

We feel bad because we have been influenced by our minds Bitcoin is an asset that soonest will give us more profit. We are worried that spending it today will cause regrets in the future just like buying a pizza with that huge amount of BTC. But if we disregard this thing and consider that we are just like spending fiat money, I don't think we still feel bad about doing it, not anymore. We should have to be adopted and educate ourselves that Bitcoin is not solely for investment purposes but also it was in a form of currency which is really what supposed to happen.

every payment is a decision when making it let alone using crypto, we have thought about everything, in the case of the guy who spent 30+ bitcoins on pizza that's his business. maybe he has received a lot of forgiveness from btc itself so he did so but behind that I don't know, basically do what you believe is right if you feel disadvantaged paying with btc , make payments with stablecoin

Is that like when we have sold our coins and then the price goes up? If so, as long as we don't lose we just have to be grateful. Because we have to bear the consequences of the choices we made. I have a story when my friend bought a laptop from another friend of mine with bitcoin, even worse, not only in a matter of months but in less than 1 week the price of bitcoin has doubled and he is still discussing it to this day.

If you do have that uneasy feeling on the time you do spent up your coins then better not to do it because we dont really know on what the future holds and we do know that it isnt really that something
that we could really be able to avoid if ever Bitcoin would rise up its value even more comparing on what we do have today.Yes, there are lots who had missed out the train and ending up on having that
huge regret basing up on what they had spent back in the past but somehow if we do really zoom out on why Bitcoin it was created then it would really be for the sake of p2p payments which is
irreversible and something which is anonymous or simply being decentralized which makes it special but spending it out would really be depending on someones choice.

Excually my payment is through Bitcoin and from that I have to pay my daily expenses as well as the investments I have to make. Although we should be happy with the spread of payments through Bitcoin, but there is still a pain inside when it comes to making payments or sales through it, The reason is the same like what Laszlo Hanyecz did.

That’s because most people in the bitcoin community see bitcoin as a store value and do not like to use bitcoin as a currency. Spending bitcoins on stuff like groceries and gadgets feels like a waste of investment to many bitcoiners, which is kind of strange to admit considering that we like to talk about how bitcoin is going to replace fiat. I believe the story you’re referring to is Laszlo pizza story. FYI that will forever be remembered in bitcoin history.

I think it comes with the territory, those first gen hodlers are the luckiest and the bold ones who believed in what Satoshi Nakomoto and friends saw in the money system, and getting to spend your bitcoin today shouldn't be something to make you feel bad because in you doing so you are being the ambassador of crypto and adoption is becoming the order of the day.

It feels like you paying more for the product from a future perspective.
I know the feeling but if you have other sources of income you can have a stash that you shouldn't touch just to make you feel happy.

What are your thoughts about this? Personally, I usually try to buy with stablecoins if I have some, it just feels more natural for me. I don't want to touch my BTC while the market is still bad.
Stablecoins are my go to coins if I don't want the inconvenience of a clogged network and besides they too speak for bitcoin in the crypto adoption game.

I think that Laszlo didn't have any information about bitcoin that how much expensive it is. But these days every person is familiar with bitcoin and the price and worth of bitcoin is well known to everyone.

I know that bitcoin holding will be lucky for you one day but you cannot hold it for prolong time, there will be a time when you have to sell your bitcoin as for the life you will need it one day.

Paying with bitcoin will decrease your profit and you will think in future that it would be better to not sell your bitcoin that time. So it will be better to put some money when it increase then take your profit and left the remaining amount in it so in this case you will be able to take benefit as well as to maintain your investemnt in bitcoin.

No not at all. I think I would feel quite happy doing so. In my country these days withdrawal of btc is quite difficult, so all the ways where you can spend bitcoin is actually good. Also i would say it's better for me because I have lost a lot of valueable money as well because of the markets going down eventually. So i feel it's better if I pay in bitcoin but obviously in rising markets it might feel like stupidity.

...

I have to admit that when I pay with Bitcoin, I get a little nervous too. Bitcoin is a means of payment, but for me it's more of a store of value. If we look at past price movements historically, we can see how great it has performed, and we can have some ideas of what it might do in the future. That's why I feel a little nervous when paying with Bitcoin, but when I think we are in a rally and there is a bubble in prices, I am more comfortable about it and do not hesitate to pay with Bitcoin.

It's a matter of preference actually. I have bought things with BTC too and I know that the price will go up in future but I don't really care.
The answer is that I have BTC which I want to HOLD for a long term and I use separate coins to buy things from BTC.
It's more like having 2 wallets where you use one for daily payments and one for holding for long term.
This way you hold BTC as a store of value as well as use it's primary capability as a payment method.

It is all about perspective.

The perspective can change with time. When that guy paid for his pizza in terms of bitcoin, it was his choice and the bitcoin was worth equal to that Pizza when that trade happened. In a similar way, if I am going to pay for a pizza in today's timeline then I will have to pay only a fraction of a bitcoin because of the increase valuation in terms of fiat. However, my bitcoin is still the bitcoin that was traded at that time.

Similarly, a reverse case scenario is also highly possible. In that one, the bitcoin price might drop such that, I may have to pay 10K bitcoin again in the future for a similar pizza and bitcoins would be worth it.

Should we hold? Yes definitely because bitcoin is actually growing in terms of fiat value and you could profit from the fiat. However, at any given time bitcoin equals bitcoin.

Paying with BTC is very bad now. Currently I am involved with this forum. I am managing my family life with what I earn from here. It's only bad when you have to sell it after receiving the weekly payment to pay for the family. Also I have some BTC invested. But I applied for a job there need some money now I have no choice but to sell this BTC. I am in a position where I cannot sell bitcoins. Can't afford to pay for that job again. But I know Bitcoin will be pumping a lot soon but I don't have time to wait that long. Maybe I'll be forced to sell my bitcoins and take that job.
I understand you are under a lot of pressure.  Because you don't want to sell the bitcoins and you need your job again. You are in big trouble now. I say you sell the bitcoins and take your job because you can hold on to bitcoins for the next time. If you can take the job then from the job.  You can support your family with the salary you get. Later you can invest the bitcoin income through this forum in bitcoins. So I think you have an easy way now that you can sell the bitcoins and get a job.  It will be very good for you and very good for your family.

If you feel bad, why would you use bitcoin to pay and then feel bad when you can use fiat? Although I don't like using bitcoin to pay my daily expenses because I consider bitcoin an investment rather than a currency. But in case of experience or use for urgent work, I will also use it because bitcoin is also money, and it is to serve my life. As long as Bitcoin gives me value and helps me, I never feel uncomfortable using it.

Spending bitcoin shouldn't be a problem because it is a currency, there is no way that you can keep accumulating forever, you must spend from it. After making profit in your investment, you are to use your profit to enjoy yourself or buy something valuable to you. If not then why are you investing when you can't enjoy from your investment. Life is short and sudden death can come up,what will happen to all your bitcoin ? Lost, there are some challenges you will face in life that these your coins will help you out or some achievement that you need, when bitcoin is in the bull run,if you sell, you can make your dreams come true. The most important thing is that don't sell all your investment so that you can top it up during the bearish market.

Then what form of contribution from this perspective to the ecosystem, suppose everyone thinks bitcoin is too valuable to spend now. I mean, how to know that bitcoin works as a means of payment? what is their experience using bitcoin?
Let's say now is the future of what you mean (where bitcoin is worth spending), are you no longer bound by previous assumptions?

When the price of bitcoin like today indeed we do not want to let go to buy something using bitcoin, because the value of bitcoin can always change and make a surprise that we cannot imagine, I am sure who bought pizza using bitcoin at that time he must have a very big regret and those of us who already know the movement of bitcoin certainly have to be vigilant so that it does not happen like him, For me, if I want to buy something using Bitcoin,I can do it but it depends on the goods,if the goods are not valuable,I prefer to use fiat currency.
