I have seen a large amount of distaste towards Muslims from members of this forum. It seems endemic in the USA and europe.

You can't hate people because of their religion, nationality, race etc.
You can hate or love someone because of his/her character, hearth etc, but to hate all group of people just because of their faith, this is completely wrong.

I would disagree though with both the Can't and Shouldn't. For example, we COULD hate the people of the 16th century Aztec empire because they killed maidens in the worship of their sun-god. It's hard to see anyone having a problem with that.
Now having said that, are all the religions of the world that generate righteous hate eradicated? That's an open question, isn't it?

I do but only in a way, as I have no dealings with muslims in my daily life; rather, it is the image that they are portrayed by the mainstream media that I hate.

The problem is not muslims the problem is religion, id eradicate both christians and muslims, but the muslims are the only ones that look like a danger because their extremism.
