I think that such a large abundance of cryptocurrencies we just do not need, as we apply so far in practice no more than 5 coins. I think that many projects, even good ones, will remain in the shadows because of this or will simply die out.

Technically, if one of these ICO projects create a be-all-end-all decentralized platform where all products and services are bought and sold, I guess it isn't impossible to one day have just one.

In my opinion, it is very hard to tell. But for sure I believe that the number of cryptocurrencies in circulation will decrease dramatically over the next 2 years, because many projects of altcoin will probably fail or disappear from the market due to lack of interest ...
There's future in cryptocurrency but talking about how many is somehow. There are still many upcoming ICO's and thousands of coins in the market. No one knows which of them holds the anticipated future.
I think the number of cryptocurrencies on the market is not a problem if they are all providing solutions to real world problems but unfortunately most of them are just for investment purposes without any tangible use case.
In the future, the number of types of cryptocurrency will be in any case very much, because everyone has been allowed to the process of its creation and many people want to improve its functionality or simply abuse this right and issue duplicate coins or just a lot of useless ones. It will take a long time before some stability begins to appear in the cryptocurrency. However, in the period of active development of cryptocurrency the process of appearance and disappearance of various types of cryptocurrency will be continuous.
In the nature we have a lot of species of animals, plants, insects, mushrooms and others. So naturally I expect thousands of different species of crypto. At first sight it looks like there should be limited amount, it would be much easier to understand and work, but I guess it won't be so obvious.
I see that in the future, if nothing changes, then a very large number of large companies will have opportunities for them to token their capital and thus create corporations only through tokens and not through stocks.

in my opinion, each cryptocurrency deserve its existence if it provides an individual product that can be used in a certain sphere of human activity. in any case, if we are talking about the only possible Bitcoin cryptocurrency, it is already beginning its relevance.

Both of them we cant use only one crypto, without competition field not develop.

As we all can see today, there are so many crypto coins that available in the market. But in the future there is a chance it will be more and more coins popping up. But there will be nature selection applied, many coins that has low quality will surely gone int he future.
I do believe that there will bemore couns coming out in the future and I think many of them are of low quality because it only designed to enrich its developers. The tokenization of the existing product or business will continue in the next several year which can lead to a surge in the number coins in the market. In looking for a quality coins, you need to research them first to find the good coins.

so the biggest possibility is that Bitcoin will become the single digital currency in the world, because it is impossible for global trade to be done with a variety of digital currencies, if conventional currencies can be replaced with digital currencies then there must be a unifying currency to replace the dollar.
crypto in the future it will be even more, it will even reach millions and will be very varied. for example if there is one successful token after the launch period in the market, then there will be another team that will make it too, and that will continue to happen.
I think the market is oversaturated at the moment. People don't need these thousands of projects.
I agree that there are too many projects in the market but some people think that only bitcoin is going to remain and to me that is not correct we need several projects so even the bitcoin developers feel the pressure to improve bitcoin and they do it as fast as they can, because if only bitcoin remains the developers are not going to be in any kind of hurry to implement any improvement.Theres no need for it to be thousands just like on what we are seeing now. We might see many but majority are just copycats so it doesn't really need or necessary at all.
Due to easy money making with crypto this is why we are seeing these kind of numbers.

There would be not so much crypto currencies in the future, because it seems like we are moving to hard regulations. In my opinion, there should be only projects on the market they have already revealed their working product.
I think the question should be, Do we see a future with Cryptocurrency. I think the cryptocurrencies are struggling right now and this year 2019 is going to decide the fate of this industry. Either it will vanish and some other better option will be introduced or they will go bullish.
