Bitcoin will not replace banks or the dollar. Not sure why people still believe this is even possible. US government is too powerful to let a tiny dot as Bitcoin come close to their giant currency that happens to be the main currency of the world.

Yeah dollar is more powerful and popular in compare to bitcoin, and I don't see anything happening like that sooner or latter, dollar will always treated as a number one currency.

The sad thing is only dollar were recognize with its value, how about other countries where they also have their respective currency? I think bitcoins will give us the universal currency that would create equality among countries.

Yeah, dollar is being treated by people that it is the supreme currency of all currencies because USA is a powerful country.
If bitcoins become currency of all nations it will become a one world government.

That seems to be impossible as Government will only support their own currency and not any digital currency, they would choose the currency that they can control.

It is possible if the bitcoin will support by the government of that country even they have their own currency.
But it would be hard for people to start using bitcoin when the government implements it immediately.

Reference to the @OP.. I want to say it is highly possible that bitcoin can easily replace the dollar.. we should just see the growth of bitcoin. bitcoin got so much popularity and attention of peoples in such a small time. and now bitcoin getting attention of governments,.
Replacing dollar may take some years but bitcoin will cross dollar so soon.

There will be some who would doubt its investment potential, but I am reading news everyday about governments considering buying BTC as form of investment, not as something that would be used as their primary currency.

If that is done then it will surely help in economic growth of the country, but I think it will take time to implement in real life scenario.
