I think it wont bee soon. But in future it might be used(bitcoins) instead of Dollars. In foreign countries Bitcoins are also used as currency for many purposes

I think it will never ever happen. Bitcoin will be always seen as a alternative to the all official currencies. You can use it only for buying online items.

Bitcoin will probably not replace the US dollar anytime soon. The Dollar is a inflationary currency printed by a bank that is partly owned by foreigners. Every dollar printed is literally debt borrowed from these bankers. Since bitcoin is decentralized, the Federal Reserve will do anything it can to ensure that the US Dollar is never superseded. They have to keep making their enormous profits.

I think when bitcoin price become stable and there are many shop that accept bitcoin, then people will prefer to use bitcoin instead of fiat. Although world governments wont recognize bitcoin as a official currency, people still could using that.

yeah, only mass adoption can trigger vendors and sllers to accept bitcoin, and bitcoin is already accepted by many governments, even promoted by a few but not at a large level. There are different laws because of democratic countries having different opinions, etc. Bitcoin is also treated as an official currency, but that's rare. If a lot of people support it, no govt can eradicate it, simple Wink

I don't think so. Based on the world as it is now, I'd say there is less than 1% chance that his predictions are realized. Of course nothing is truly impossible, projections made at any given point are always linear and in this case could never account for all breakthroughs possible within even the shortest period of time. But without speculating on miraculous breakthroughs/discoveries, 15 years is way, way, WAY too soon, there are just so many things to take into account here. Also there is absolutely no way the US would be the first country to replace its currency. That would be like skipping the mice and heading straight into clinical trials Cheesy
Here's one that's not even a major concern - what happens after all coins are mined more than 100 years from now is anybody's guess. Sure you have plenty of theories that claim the transition will be seamless but do you really think the US, one of the largest economies in world, would be willing to take that chance?

Move On !!!!!!
Soon not, one day maybe! Bitcoin is still far away from this. We still have huge problems inside, look at the attempt of the current fork. After current block size debate will finish, some other problems will arise that will need to be solved. Bitcoin is still young and it needs to grow.

But if we do all right, I don't see why we wouldn't be a threat one day to a mighty dollar, but not before year 2030 in my opinion.

not until it's block limit sis limtied so much that it isn't possible to beat even paypal, to replce somethign like dollar you need to sustain the biggest adoption you can ever get, and as long as the other issue are nto resolved you can't achieve that

and i'm with satoshi on this one, if satoshi will succed this will happen around 2030(20 from the creation) if not you will get something which will work for nerd only...

First we will have to make it counterfeitable, because if you can't print it at zero cost, you obviously can't replace a currency which can be issued ad infinitum at zero cost.

did you forget the /sarc tag?

Nope it's not going to happen most likely , not on the near future and not on the long term . We are struggling for the moment with this crapXT thing so we should bypass this then concentrate on other things like going to mainstream .
for the moment Bitcoin is used by a lot of people yes however that's not enough to beat the dollar, yen or euro

I think on way bitcoin will replace any other currency. Until now these bitcoins is not considered as official currency in any country. This will be a alternative for dollar to buy online.

Nope, 15 years jut likely too early. Maybe bitcoin will replaced within 100 years?

I don't see what all this fuss is about replacing fiat currency. As long as there are governments, there will be an entrenched place for fiat currency. Governments may default, currencies may collapse -- but that doesn't mean they are going away. Have they in the past? No....

Bitcoin will hopefully have a place in the future like gold. A decentralized store of value. Traded against fiat currencies and (hopefully) rising against them over time.
