General rules should imply, knowledge is the best tools so knowing technical analysis is very important as it will serve as a guide from each trades or investment that newbies or beginners will take, you should be more realistic and not to go right away without proper knowledge, there's already lots of failures coming from beginners who didn't bothered to take some course or education about technical analysis who just proceeds and take the investment.
