then you should remove web wallet as an option ,i dont think we really need web wallet if there are wallet already and dont have a 3rd party it is more secure than webwallet.
The only things why many people use that and risk to make a KYC is for the convertion to fiat currency.
However, we still need an exchange/web wallet when we intend to sell our bitcoin. And most of the exchange will ask you KYC to make an account at there.

So, just wondering do we have another way to avoid it? I'll agree if the best platform to hold bitcoin is an offline wallet. But if you concern with the other thing like KYC it seems like you won't ever be avoid it.
Basically Yes, we can avoid it but it's too risky, If you are really concerned about privacy and don't want to give any KYC details, you can sell your bitcoins directly without getting involved in the exchange, you can sell them to a "bitcoin guy" ( a person who offering service buying and selling bitcoin)  but make sure that bitcoin guy is trusted and has good reputation in your community and most importantly you know him in person (his details, where he lives, etc) or it's better if you can meet them offline, I personally did this and the reason why I did this because those bitcoin guys offering lowest fee than my exchange especially for bitcoin to cash. To be honest, I highly don't recommend this way since it's too risky they can run away with your coins, especially if you don't know them or not meet them in real life.

Most online wallets will ask you for KYC and other such requirements.
I never know that online(web?) wallet need KYC, even blockchain doesn't need to do KYC to use it, except for exchange.
If you mean 'exchange wallet', that thing is not good to hold coins for long time.

It will start changing soon.

Please forgive me if its a stupid question, I have been away from Crypto for a few years, I live In Canada and I have  not been active and now am getting back to crypto, I use to use Blockchain.com wallet , is that wallet still good? and Does it matter which country I am in for wallet.  I registered with coinsquare  as a platform to buy bitcoins, but I heard  that it can take up to 4 days to  move BTC from there after purchase, is that true, I remember on localbitcoins it used to be much quicker but the price was higher obviously, so is coinsquare the best way to buy bitcoins for Canadians.  what wallet would you recommend for mobile.

Thank you.

This is not a stupid question, it's a valid question for me, and yes regardless on what country you are in you can use popular wallets , desktop and online wallet, Blockchain.com is still good in fact I am using it from my trading, just don't lose the email associated with your blockchain.com account or you will lose all your coins, for the best mobile wallet do check out this article

I guess he is referring to Custodial wallet (for instance- Coinbase). Non custodial wallet doesn't require KYC for storing fund. But for Custodial, I guess KYC is needed for using it for beyond the limit. Coinbase has limitation on NON-KYC accounts. You can send certain amount of BTC without KYC and will have to go through a lenghty process while with KYC, you are free to send big amount as well.

Most online wallets will ask you for KYC and other such requirements. It is better to use desktop wallets or even hardware wallets if the bitcoin amount you hold is high.
If you want to buy bitcoins in canada, try this local bitcoins link. It will directly open the offers to buy from people in Canada.

Just stop using the online wallets and try to use only those wallet where you have private key in your control. I would recommend the below wallets which you can use and the your location or presence will not matter.

1Electrum Wallet.
2 Mycelium
3 Bread Wallet
4 Edge Wallet

No point for apology, we all need to clear our doubt at one point or the other beside this; your question is not stupid.

I recommend you to use hardware wallet named electrum, it is safe and it is a hardware wallet used by everyone. I prefer using hardware wallet, and it is available in the web just type electrum it does not matter where country are you in ,or you have other choices like use nano ledger or trezor it is highy recommended too. You may use exchange wallet too but be sure to put 2FA on it.

Electrum is NOT a hardware wallet, it is a desktop wallet!
Some hardware wallets (like trezor or ledger) can be used together with electrum, in this case electrum works as a watch-only wallet that simply creates new unsigned transactions, sends them to the hardware wallet for signing, receives the signed tx from the HW wallet for broadcasting. This setup is, in a lot of ways, similar to an airgapped setup but it certainly does not place electrum in the same league as hardware wallets.

Your question does not sound stupid at all considering the things we have come to know about service provision where you see some services being denied to you by virtue of the country you come from not because of you being a bad person or you violated some of their terms and conditions but just where you are located. But the good news about crypto and most importantly wallet providers is that there is no discrimination as to where or location you come from. You only need to have access to the internet and you are fine. Blockchain, we have read about some negative reviews from their end but its better you have a wallet that you absolute control the keys.

Call your grandparents and tell them you love them
is that wallet still good?
Good or bad is relative. I always advice people to keep their private coins private. That is use a desktop wallet to store coins and not a online service. I am sure you being a long timer would remember what happened to MtGox at one time.

Your country is irrelevant for wallet. But to use their other services like buying and selling crypto you would need to be located in one of their supported countries.

Alternative to LBC is now localcryptos previously started as localEthereum. However check your local residential friends who are also using bitcoin as to what exchange they commonly use. North America countries are supported by many exchanges so you should not have any trouble with this if you do some inquiry. I cant help you more on this.

Blockchain.com is also obeying certain international laws, especially those concerning the USA and their recommendations. There is a part in their TOS which is saying :

13.1 No Violation of Law. You represent and warrant to us that you: (a) are not located in, under the control of, or a resident of any Restricted Location or any country to which the United States has embargoed goods and services; (b) are not identified as a “Specially Designated National” by the United States Treasury Department; and (c) shall not use the Services if you are prohibited by any applicable law, regulation, or rule from doing so.

From this, it can be concluded that all the countries that are on the USA blacklist will not be able to use this site as an exchange since users need to do KYC, but maybe using of web wallet is not so strictly controlled.

When you will use web wallet like coinbase and coinpayment there is restrictions for some jurisdictions. Because you have to pass KYC.
It's important to differentiate between an exchange and a web wallet. Coinbase is an exchange, not a web wallet. Blockchain.com is a web wallet.

As far as I know even Blockchain dot com wallet ask for KYC (I think not mandatory but I might be wrong).
If you are only using their wallet service, then you don't have to kyc verify yourself. If you claim their 'free' shitecoin giveaways, or you plan to buy Bitcoin through their platform, then you have to kyc verify yourself. That's how the situation is right now. I wouldn't be surprised if even their basic wallet service will eventually require kyc verification.  Lips sealed

If you wondering to hold your fund for long time then I will suggest to buy hardware wallet like Ledger. New Ledger-X even could be use on smart phone. You may buy bitcoin from different sources but I will never encourage for store your crypto assets there. Just move your fund after bought. When you will use web wallet like coinbase and coinpayment there is restrictions for some jurisdictions. Because you have to pass KYC. But if you use wallet clients like Bitcoincore and electrum then you don't need to think about KYC. You may store there if amount isn't big. But still I will suggest to use Hardware wallet to avoid hack issues. As far as I know even Blockchain dot com wallet ask for KYC (I think not mandatory but I might be wrong).

Buy/Sell crypto at BestChange
Bitcoin is a decentralized currency so you will not be affected by the state to send/receive bitcoin from your wallet, but you may be affected if you decide to buy or sell because it may go through central platforms.
Localbitcoin is P2P service and acts as an escrow meaning you are buying from vendors and the platform provides a warranty

Does it matter which country I am in for wallet.

In accordance with FATF recommendations on cryptocurrencies published this year, it will. You may find out that if you visit Iran/North Korea/any other blacklist country and try to log in there, your e-wallet account may become suspended and a deep through verification of you will be obligatory. This may as well apply if you will make first cryptocurrency transfer being equivalent of at least $1000/if you are using VPN.

These changes are expected to be widely introduced next year. And FATF stands behind all these banking and card payment system KYC and AMLP procedures coming into being since 9/11
