A man goes into an ocean-side restaurant and orders the albatross dish. He takes a single bite when the food arrives, puts down his fork, pulls out a gun, and shoots himself. Why does he do this?

If you lose two of me, you are blissfully unaware.

Stop me if you heard this one before.

Three well-to-do gentlemen walk into a jewelry store at the same time, each wanting to purchase engagement rings for their better halves. The first guy ask to see in a ring in size 5 1/2. The second ask for one in a 5 3/4. The other asks for one in a 7.

The jeweler brings out one ring only, then asks all three guys will this do, of which all three were elated and said yes.

Sans the obvious adjustable-size ring, what did the jeweler show the guys?

Here's one:

If Pinoccio said "My nose will grow now!". What would happen???
His nose will not grow. What Pinocchio states is a prediction, which can be neither true nor false at the time it is stated.

Oh, yes. The Ship of Theseus? I think it would be different, of course.

Well, it isn't exactly clear to everyone that it would be different, though I myself agree, up to a point. But at what point do you consider it would be a different ship? After the first patch of the ship, or when it was composed of completely different materials? Or at some other point?

Also, if a second ship was built using only the materials of the first ship, would this be the original ship?

I don't think anything can be the same of anything, even if it's made of the same materials. It's just not the same anything, because something has to be different about it. From it's owner to anything else. If it was built out of the same materials of the first ship, then it can't necessarily be the same ship. Based on it's width, design, height, weight, worth, and things like that. I don't think it's solely possible for the same anything to be the same material of anything.

I got a good one:

There is a 100 pound watermelon laying out in the sun. 99 percent of the watermelon's weight is water. After laying out for a few hours 98 percent of the watermelon's weight is water.

How much water evaporated?

Is it the sun? It doesn't exactly walk into your house, but if you have windows... plus, on a Sunday it would come in as usual and it would be a Sun + day.  Tongue
congrats Smiley

Alright my turn then: what is it that enters the water and doesn't get wet?

I'm sure there are many answers for that one, so don't take it too far...  Wink

In terms of paradoxes, have you guys heard of the "Ship of Theseus" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus)?

A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms.
The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years.
Which room is safest for him?

Obviously the dead lions.  Smiley

Haha, correct.

And this one?

You may always chase me but you are always about 3 miles away.

What am I?

Well, there's many things that you can never get close to. But I'm guessing this deals with the sky or something astronomical?

Well, it is close enough I suppose. It is the horizon. Smiley
