I think both will have their places in the years t come.
Its foolish to think that one coin will rule the crypto world in the years to come.

lol. push that crap more. You get a share of those premined ripples? ... it is not even crypto in that sense ... it is a private company - why should i buy into that company? What can it do that could not be cloned in a non-profit-manner at any time?

If you consider Ripple the facebook of Bitcoin, you must consider NXT the twitter of Ripple.

Every advantage that Ripple has over Bitcoin, it is already in NXT but totally decentralized and open source.

ripple is too complicated to be the facebook to bitcoin's myspace, facebook dominated myspace because to was way simplier to create a page (well they gave you and everyone the same one), so average Joe could adopt.

After Bitcoin I would say some form of NXT is going to be the market leader.

Have you used Ripple?

Personally I found the IOU thing a royal pain in the ass. I don't understand it exactly, most don't but you don't really own anything but you trust others for stuff.

It might get built on to make it user friendly but now its fully in geek tech head territory...

xrp / rippels itself are no IOUs.
only other currencies (like btc or usd) are. but i also have more faith in pts/nxt/msc atm

ripple is - still - not opensource and is somewhat centralized.
i dont think ripple will succeed.

You seem to know what you're talking about...

And I could argue that Bitcoin is somewhat centralized (but I can't be bothered).

where is the ripple-server-source?

No hard feelings. Loads of people don't realize that it is open source.

ah the have released it.. i missed that. it started very closed but only with the promise to be oss. i'll check...

Other coin in principle is to clone Bitcoin, but they also have their own merits, personal views.

edit: one difference between ripple-centralization and bitcoin centralization is: with bitcoin i can (theoretically) build a new mining-farm and be part of the "centralization". with ripple i cannot
